Vichy France are not even collaborating with Germany properly since all they did just doing infighting and more happy killing other French citizen and it went so bad that many of them flee the country and join SS when France liberated by allies.

  14. Tiger is shit because shitty German doctrine. German panzer division consist one heavy tank battalion (50 tanks) and two medium tank battalion (100 each) for total 250 tanks. Back then pz 4 fill the heavy tank spot while pz 3 fill the medium tank spot. But when Tiger came tiger fill heavy spot and pz 4 fill the medium spot. These tank are not equal in speed and cruise range and Tiger will slow down the whole division. Not to mention they are under performing for example Otto Carius 502 heavy tank battalion failed to destroy 31st heavy tank brigade which only armed with 20 kv-1 for 3 year of Leningrad siege. The soviet also use the same doctrine in 42 in which a tank corps consist 20 kv-1 2x20 t-34 and 2x20 t-70. They drop it in favor of 3x21 t-34 and move the kv-1 and t-70 elsewhere (kv-1 to independent tank brigade and t-70 to recon forces) after that they have many sucess that germans have in 1941. Moral of the story dont group slow tank with fast tank. It will slow the whole division down, giving the enemy time to react and smack you in the face with counter attack.

  15. HoboTango Actually the frontal armor of Tiger and Sherman and Kv 1 and t-34 are not that difrent because the latter 3 are sloped and 88mm gun are underpowerd for the tonage. Because the soviet can mount 85mm gun on their t-34 and 122mm gunon their is-2, while the American can put 90mm on their M26. German 88 are in the same class as soviet 85mm and American 90mm but both guns are on lighter chasis. Tiger somehow exeed Army requirement by a lot. German army want something 35ton medium and 45 tom heavy but they get 45 ton medium and 55 ton heavy instead.

  18.  @ravenkk4816  Nope! you get the number by crunching units deployed. 9k is actually 3x 3k while on tank division its 3x 600. Logistic per battalion are about 300 or 3x 100 . If you want to make your own number please make it believable. Germany still have 16k per division. the one got reduced is the armored division because oil shortage. for manpower they still have volunteer from everywhere, children, and elderly.

American squad MG fire burst not continuous shoot, so 20 is fine. Cal 30 is for platoon/company asset because its heavy. The same reason why the Russian put their Maxim as company asset not squad asset.

  25. Same goes with the soviet. Soviet tank forces varies from time to time. In 1941 the entire soviet tank forces are 8 mechanized corps, with 800 active tanks each. While in 1943 soviet tank forces are organized into tank army which consist 3x189 tanks and supporting elements like self propelled guns.

That's why statue of limitation exist. memoirs are the worst example of what happen in the past specially when it was written long after the event itself. That's why people use combat record or logistic record which was written on the same day to write history book. You can put memoirs next to historical fiction in terms of accuracy.

Because they falsify their own battle record. They are notorious to over estimate their own performance like kill count. Michel Whitman is one of the case, he reported he destroy 16 kampfwagen but in the battle record it was stated he destroy 16 panzerkampfwagen. Leaving the Germans having amazing kill ratio but still lose the battle/war. Yes, you should dismiss them if they are using memoirs not battle record.

Western front are secondary front just like soviet eastern front. And the soviet have their thin northern (One front to hold the entire Finnish border) and southern front (the Axis control entire black sea) that undermanned for entire time.

They can equip every platoon with MG the only reason they can hold for that long and Antibiotics that prevent mass casualty from simple wound or hygiene related issue. To put simply the Soviet are nothing more than medieval army. They don't have enough MG and antibiotics. Its miraculous that they managed to hold that long, not the other way around. Also USSR don't have limitless resources. They choose not to issue general conscription to save their regime and it bite them latter in 1944/1945 when they have to fight in smaller formation because they cant replace their casualty fast enough.

Those design will never get approved in US or UK or even Germany or even USSR. They just forget that those equipment need pilot/crew. I dont think highly trained pilots can mitigate stress caused by un ergonomic or faulty design. And only handful of captain are able to jettison their highly volatile oxygen torp before it blow up.

Their pilot are agressive because they have 10 years of experience fighting the Chinese. Those people will eventually die with such unsafe planes and they will be replaced by recruits. And those recruits are hardly aggressive when not doing suicidal attack.

Or else your own machine are more likely to kill your own men than the other side. Which is what happen to IJN. Their oxygen torp burn many of their own ships. Their plane easily turn into fireball and their poor ergonomic cause accidents in prolonged fight.

Then add various SSgroupen (French, Ukrainian and Estonian, you can form several divisions for each). The Finn have their own share invading Karelian. And finally add Italian the last because they also fight in Africa and their own homeland. Russia did not enact general conscription like Germany, only limit themselves to general reserve mobilization so they cant have all human resources they can have. Not to mention they have 6 months training time unlike Germany 3 months.
