That’s Marxism for you

Bradford? Quelle surprise.
6
With that attitude it definitely won’t be!
6
I'm reading 'her' book at the moment and it's hilarious
6
I think it's too easy to get married and too hard to get divorced. It should be mandatory to sign a prenuptial and accept minimum default terns of a divorce in advance. For example 5050 custody should be the default and you have to prove why you should get more, not woman gets 100 and man has to fight for every bit in court.
6
What we are going through will either herald a renaissance of British identity and self confidence or the final destruction of the uk and it's descent into Islamic hell and left wing self loathing. Unfortunately I think the latter is more likely.
6
I’m an atheist and I acknowledge the Christian foundations of this country. It is a part of what has made Britain the greatest country on earth
5
They’d turn round and say you’re racist for saying ‘your people’
5
Um Boris is regularly attacked for his speech (letterboxes anyone?) which is regularly taken out of context by the woke mob, and so far he has continued to express himself in his inimitable fashion. He resists. I think he genuinely does support free speech - he is a journalist ffs.

50+ years of the Nanny state has turned us all into morons in a state of perpetual infantilism.

I voted Remain (somewhat reluctantly) and when Leave won I was pretty shell-shocked. But once I got over the shock I realise what a momentous result it really was. We'd been told that leaving was racist, fascist, a little Englander mentality going against the Brave New World of globalised capitalism and open borders, it was going to crush us economically, that it would be apocalyptic. The people voted out anyway. Freedom and self determination is always worth it. But I said then "they won't let it happen". Because to Remain is the choice of the elites, the bankers, the oligarchs and the metropolitan chattering classes, they are so self righteous in their 'wokeness' they can't conceive that ordinary people just want to be British and go their own way. They will not let it happen. Just like they didn't let it happen in France, Holland and Ireland. How dare we mess with their plans for one European government with massive power concentrated in even fewer hands!
5
Depends what you mean by skilled. I don’t want loads of skilled people either - we have more than enough ‘diversity’. Period.
5
No the Taliban and the Iranian revolution happened
5
Reversal!!
5
Because they’re scared they’ll be the next Sir David Amess or Lee Rigby
5
@harveyneedleman817 That bothers me in itself. Why should religion be given special protections of any kind? It’s as nonsensical as giving special protections to views on capitalism or Greek philosophy or conservatism.
5
Disgraceful. At my company someone with ‘gender critical beliefs’ (aka normal beliefs) was told they must use preferred pronouns or face disciplinary action. His beliefs are obviously less important than pandering to fantasists.
5
Phil The Messer The culture that has been built over many generations and is recognisably distinct as 'British' as opposed to 'French' or 'Turkish' or 'Japanese'. The culture that produced Shakespeare and Darwin and John Lennon and The Sex Pistols. If you can ask the question 'what culture?' with a straight face you're probably part of the problem not the solution.
5
@tomsnak1 Not quite. I voted to Remain as I was happy with the status quo. However a vote to Remain could also have been interpreted by the govt and EU as a mandate for more Europe and more federalisation which I definitely DIDN'T want.. I wanted a soft Remain not a hard Remain. If the choice had been between Remain to join the Euro and Schengen and become part of the United States of Europe or Leave on WTO terms I would have voted Leave. Now though, after 3 years, I've realised what an idiot I was and would vote LEAVE. The harder the better. The EU is what it is and can't be reformed. We have to get out now while we still can.
5
A couple of my friends at work often say to me that they're glad I do pipe up about certain topics because they're too scared to on their own. We self censor all the time out of fear. It didn't used to be as bad as that. Dissenting views (Voting Leave, voting Tory, being anti open borders, not hating Trump, not loving Corbyn etc) makes you a social pariah and persona non grata.
5
Black people complaining about the odd racist comment don't seem to rationalise that the racist was maybe 1 of the hundreds of people they interacted with that day who weren't racist - but they focus on that one. I've been to Asia and treated like a pink poodle for being blonde and blue eyed, and been abused for being a 'Britisher' who 'stole our diamond', among other things. Unpleasant, yes, but I remember that a. I'm the stranger in their country b. They did not represent all the people who were kind and curious.
5
We have to stop apologising and be proud of our civilisation, our culture and our history.
5
New Labour got a taste of how it feels to have wealth and power and they liked it
5
More like marry 3 women and get them claiming 3 lots of benefits
5
Show the complete contempt the establishment has for working class natives
5
You're not alone

@DarkAngel2512 The definition of 'liberal' seems to have become entwined with 'progressive' or 'leftist' in recent years. This is why I no longer recognise myself as a 'liberal'. Maybe a 'classical liberal' but mostly I just think of myself as a reasonable person who looks at things on a case by case basis and don't follow any tribe dogmatically. I am not easily offended and I am capable of listening to, and empathising with, views different from my own - and changing my mind.
5
KTM She is not a victim. The people whose heads she liked looking at in baskets are the real victims.
5
Thing is the law was always there to protect them - if you get beaten up it shouldn’t matter what colour etc is involved it’s a crime that should be punished. I don’t see how being beaten up because you’re black is any different or worse than being beaten up because you’re rich, ginger, ugly or just looked at someone funny. What they’ve been given is additional rights. And they are being abused. What annoys me is that the only group I think genuinely needs extra protection, the disabled, are almost entirely missing from these conversations. It proves to me that the Left is not really about protecting the vulnerable it’s about power, division and dominance of the public and private sphere.
4
They’re not ‘conserving’ British identity and culture that’s for sure…
4
@masotactics Yes. It does.
4
If Liz Truss interacted with Indian YouTube commenters as much as me she definitely would not want more immigration from the subcontinent. Many openly despise us and want Britain to be ‘taken over and looted’ presumably in ‘revenge’ for an empire they never experienced and atrocities that they didn’t experience or that never happened except in the fevered imaginations of brainwashed Hindu nationalists
4
If Tice can deliver on immigration and deportation I won’t sweat the small stuff
4
No one lectured India - but India knows for sure the dangers of mass Muslim immigration.
4
Nothing wrong with being secular instead of a theocracy.
4
I have to agree.
4
That’s why it time for a new party to be given a chance. Macron took power with an unknown party, other ‘fringe’ parties are taking seats across Europe- why not us?
4
He’s worked out the next level of scam

@northernlights8126 The myth that immigrants built Britain or came here out of the kindness of their hearts for us makes me FURIOUS. 1. The Windrush generation numbers were TINY compared to the wider population, the idea that they ‘built Britain’ is nonsense 2. They come here for THEMSELVES not us. They came, benefitted from our country and did very well thanks. They didn’t have to come.
4
Not forgive even, ACCEPT. You can’t change other people. Bad things happen and there’s nothing you can do about it. Giving up the possibility of any real peace and happiness in your life because you’re obsessed with rehashing the past or getting revenge is a waste of life.
4
You agree with this draconian legislation then?
4
‘Make Discrimination and Deportation Great Again’
4
I couldn't agree more. The capitulation to Islam is the most sickening thing I've ever witnessed and truly makes me fearful of the future. Everywhere Islam has power is a hell hole. It gains power through demographics, then intimidation, then out and out violence. There has been a pattern of this visible in many once Christian countries like Lebanon and Syria. If we think it couldn't happen to us we're delusional.
4
@crustyoldfart Much respect to you, I'm 48 and think you're absolutely right. I went to uni in the early 90s and did Media and Film Studies and became a bit of a militant Marxist Feminist so it was going on even back then. I am now, fortunately, cured, but I wish I could go back and study something useful like engineering or medicine.

The intergenerational bonds are being broken and it’s deliberate.

What is the 'The essence of Englishness'? Hmmm interesting question.... Some thoughts that come to mind are: - Fair play - Innovation - Pride - Science / thought - Countryside - Unique history - Island mentality - Language and literature - Music - Manners and etiquette - Self deprecation - Humour - Class - Keep calm and carry on - Individual excellence - Duty, honour, sacrifice - Quirkiness - Accents - The Royal Family (and a strange mix of deference to it and rejection of it) - Rebelliousness - The Sea - Intellectual and physical curiosity - Pragmatism - Principles / truth over feelings - Politeness - Talking about the weather - Animal lovers It is not that I think no other culture has any of these things. I just think the mix that we have of them is unique. Go anywhere in the world and other cultures recognise Englishness immediately, even if we don't. I also extend much of this to Britishness not just Englishness.
4
You don’t have to tell us that, we know it. Our leaders apparently either do not know it, so they’re ignorant, or they do know it and they are malevolent. If diversity and multiculturalism were so great why aren’t we like Wakanda? Crime has gone up. Terrorism is a constant threat. Productivity is down. Backward cultural practices have become normalised. I hate it.
4
Banbury??? Last time I went to Banbury it was a nice little Oxfordshire town.
4
There are people who really believe in this stuff (the zealots), those who hate it (the resistance) but the biggest problem are the ones who maybe aren’t comfortable with it but go along with it out of fear - or adopt it to benefit themselves (collaborators).
4
@hannannah1uk Nigel gets a particularly large dose of vitriol from the chattering classes because he's the only one brave enough to tell it like it is and he understands normal people and their concerns. I am glad he's still fighting the good fight.
