@JvSalinger Please explain how a Taliban leader speaking about negotiations a of peace with the US in an op-ed is worse then a call for US military to police action in US cities over overblown accusations and narrative driven false claims of violence and destruction.
17
Why should they need to resign for publishing that op-ed?
5
Can we add video game expenses to the next stimulus package?
4
@ASimoneau There is more to the resignation then just this one op-ed.
4
@DepressinglyOptimistic Bingo, there is an article in Forbes about this guy and adds that context.
3
They need to have probable cause and reasonable suspicion to detain you. They have a right to ask the question and a citizen has the right to refuse to answer. The purpose of detaining or going to a secondary check point is to look for a probable clause, but this requires reasonable suspicion that they are required to tell you. Not answering the question is not responsible suspicion.
3
Lets thank informed people who said three years ago that Trumps stimulus spending was going to increase inflation.

@NotThisGuy12 The guy asking the question was completely full of shit. there is a Forbes article that has the context and details of his business. When he was interviewed he explained the regulations and tax increases. They were from the state and not Obama. He paid more taxes because he had a new source of income increasing his revenue. He lost customers due to a recession. As far as Obama raising taxes on small business owners I'd like to see some evidence of that. Obama's 2009 ARRA had several tax cuts and credits for small businesses and the middle class. 54 billion for tax deductions, credits and loan guarantees. By increasing deductions for equipment, cutting capital gains, tax credits for hiring veterans. "In the Fiscal Year 2011 budget, an additional $64 billion in stimulus money was allocated to extend many of the ARRA programs. It added tax credits for any new hires, and increase the Small Business Administration loan limits from $3 million to $5 million."

Miller is so full of shit.

@pongohuston8666 some of it comes from raising interest rates. Increased demand for US debt and buying treasuries. And borrowing from countries like China.
2
They will never back away from their fake news as long as it fits the narrative.
2
@Mr.zou123 According to this business owner he was effected by state and local regulations and not federal. His taxes increased due to an increase of revenue by another source of income and his customer base decreased due to the recession. And no I don't feel any remorse for those who feel Dodd Frank is slowing growth after losing all my income and savings during the last recession.

Title 42 suspends all title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right is using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border. That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. That is your open border policy created by Republicans.
2
There was a full article on this if you google the guys name. He was wrong to accuse Obama, as it was state laws that were effecting him. Also he paid more in taxes due to earning more income from a second source and had fewer customers due to the recession. I see this every time a small business owner complains about Obama policies, the context and details tell a difference story.
2
No the problem here is that it violates the rights of law abiding citizens. Have you heard that line before?
2
Southern border crossing were cut in half since 2008. We saw a 17 year decline. Obama's last fiscal year end was the lowest since 1970 or 71. After Trump they climbed back to 1990 levels of southern border crossings. Look at the data and policy and not the rhetoric.
2
Yet Trump did use them to bring him a diet coke With a push of a button, and I don't remember any complaints.
2
According to an interview he gave the regulation a were state and local. He didn't give specific answers to how they effected him, but how they effected other business owners he knew. One was a state minimum wage increase.
2
The misinformation that the right had built into their false narratives is incredible. I have not seen one in this comment section or any other in the past week that have a clue.

Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers. This report also leaves out the fact that in 2019 Trumps numbers were at a 20 year high after his policies, but Chris like most on the Right only show 2020 when covid was keeping numbers low.

Yep Dems actual did well this time holding out.

@bigguy9375 lol

Good
1
Because the Right thinks our legal asylum process is an open border policy created by Biden and not a law created 40 years ago. what an open border policy truly looks like is Republicans forcing title 42 to remain in place and it removes our legal deterrent and penalties for non asylum seekers.
1
Trump has marines bring him a diet coke with a push of a button.
1
Sure would like to see specifics on what regulations and taxes were hurting his small business. Sounds more like a poor business plan. I recall a business owner on Hannity complaining about having to offer his employees healthcare and it was killing his business. Turned out he was below the 50 employee threshold and wasn't actually required to offer healthcare.
1
No the answer is do you have probable cause to stop me. No then have a nice day goodbye.
1
The Right are becoming more bat shit crazier by the day. Trump is their new God.
1
It didn't it took less then a week to come to an agreement on a 2 trillion dollar stimulus.
1
The stimulus was not about healthcare it was an economic stimulus. She had already passed House health bills prior to last week. The stimulus was held up to make sure money went to workers first and not used for stock buybacks and executive bonuses, the Treasury secretary meaning the Presidents administration was against including it until Dems refused to vote on the Senate bill to have it included. Trump dismissed that restriction when signing the bill. The hold out also increased money for Americans out of work. Working with the President doesn't mean giving into every Republican demand, it mean a bipartisan negotiation to build legislation that everyone gets something and everyone gets something they hate about it.
1
@johnnyhall6953 What you call extras for their agenda I call funding for employers and the people they employ.
1
Wrong your timing and talking points don't work.
1
@joshgates5764 It will be some time before we see some relief from the Trump virus.
1
Hey I just got back from a trip to the future. It was 2022 and Republicans were blaming Biden for the 3 trillion dollar deficit they created.
1
Please continue to teach Americans about what their future has in store.

@charlesbarajas1075 I'm not deflecting, I'm adding context of our laws and the process that your media leaves out when they are manipulating their low informed base who know nothing of our immigration laws or the process. I know that without our enforcement laws we have no way of securing the border. those laws were working before your clueless base supported trumps polices that dismantled our process. Answer due to the fact Republicans are fighting court to keep title 42 in place that suspends all title 8 enforcement. Your feeble attempt to understand what is actually going on, is the problem.

Trump supporters are low informed and hypocritical.
1
Then apply for unemployment.
1
@trentpetersen3072 you can earn money doing that.
1
@trentpetersen3072 Well no shit, but since most can't work right now they need to make some income and if they were laid off a job they can do that by claiming benefits in unemployment on top of the 1200 stimulus check.
1
He understands just fine and he's correct Homan is twisting the truth.
1
@sethsonny1165 Wrong, I love the way the Right wing talks out it's ass as if any of you know what you're talking about. US code 1325 makes it a CIVIL offense to cross the border illegally. The first offense is a penalty of deportation OR imprisonment for no longer then 6 months. As Blitzer said, this leaves border patrol the authority to choose depending on circumstances. As Blitzer said previous administrations had used the penalty of deportation with family units (assuming no other laws were being broken), in an effort to avoid separations. Under Trumps zero tolerance policy they are charging anyone that is violating 1325 with imprisonment to separate families as a deterrent and has caused a large number of displaced children to satisfy the assholes that support him. The bigger issue as discussed is that the zero tolerance policy was used to also separate and imprison legal asylum seekers. Under US code 1158 asylum seekers are allowed to cross the border between check points and request asylum. Trumps policy was in violation of this law and Homan continues to ignore this law and claims asylum seekers have to come to the port of entry. Federal courts have stopped this illegal policy. Wolf just wants to know what is to be gained by changing the policy that they know will cause more suffering for people that have suffered enough.
1
@JuniorWA He was twisting the truth by claiming that violating US code 1325 was a crime and it's a civil offense. He twisted the truth by claiming asylum seekers are in violation of that law if they do not come to a port of entry, this ignores US code 1158 that allows asylum seekers to come between ports of entry and request asylum yet still be legal. He claims that those people were still being charged with a crime and separated. Yes our immigration laws are clear and clearly through the courts, they have shown the policies by trump do not reflect the law put in place by congress.
1
@JuniorWA I didn't know that the American immigrating Council was in charge of writing and judiciary over our laws. I do know that Congress does write laws and the courts adjudicates. 1325 covers illegal entry, entry into marriage for the purpose of avoiding immigration laws, and commercial enterprises to avoid immigration. For the first part of that law illegal immigration it's a civil offense for the first act.
1
@JuniorWA for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under Title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under Title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both. (b) Improper time or place; civil penalties Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of-- (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or (2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection. Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.
1
Ok I'll bit. She has no idea what she is talking about. Sanctuary status does not violate Congressional immigration law. Trump on the other had has violate Congressional immigration law, through policy changes he attempted through Home Land Security. Trump supporters have long claimed to support legal immigration, yet they continue to support Trumps increased restriction and reductions of legal immigration policies.
