You're also leaving out crucial information btw, namely the fact that Israel stole its land from Palestine and killed everybody who spoke out about it. It killed the people who protested, and it killed people who tried to offer humanitarian aid. And it kills people who report on any of this, too. What you described isn't Israel offering "a chance for peace" as you put it, Israel effectively told Palestine "let's not turn this mugging into a murder"

We did this during the Spanish flu last century, we did this during covid-19, and some people still do this during flu season to prevent infecting others. It's also common for people to wear masks during protests, as the police routinely harass dissidents.
