It was stomach-churning to hear his take on what Iraqis have to deal with, and doubly so a day after seeing Trump pardon war criminals I'm genuinely so sorry for what you have to bear Hakim, the way liberals handwave what happened without even performative compassion is completely shameful

@seekingabsolution1907 Radical just means "very different". Doesn't necessarily mean extreme. Going vegan is a radical change to your diet, but is that extreme? Not really, veganism is perfectly fine and sustainable and you don't risk death over it. Extremist is to pursue a goal regardless of the negative consequences. Forcing veganism on everybody else would be extreme. Ironically, liberals actually have more extremist beliefs, as their ideology is far more destructive.

I've spoken to people (from both the left and right) who honestly think Russia is still socialist in character And it just...boggles my mind
128
@juvedoo99 You are correct - this is a symptom of people who do all their activism online. The most important thing to them is clout, and pointless internet drama is what fuels it. That's why nobody changes their mind. By making that kind of content popular, we're also feeding into it. The solution is to organise IRL, leave the actors to their acting.
72
@Mark-zk3gu Vaush is simply not a socialist, tho
70
Always happy to hear from people who turned away from evil, good work comrade
70
@kenos911 Money is abstract and we literally decide how much of it should exist What the global south needs is socialism not capitalism-but-with-more-money
51
@Blueblackngold "Capitalism is freedom" Freedom from this mortal coil maybe
50
@PlatinumAltaria "things don't happen for any reason at all. They just happen randomly and it's useless to try and understand why!"
43
@Diskaria It's not infighting if we're talking about people who support NATO
27
This is still way less than capitalism, so you are not making the point you think you are making.
18
If I have a fruitbowl with 6 apples and I put an orange in there..the apple hasn't been replaced. Get this through your head.
17
Btw congrats on la bageutte getting promoted by UNESCO Well-deserved, definitely one of the top breads
17
@PlatinumAltaria 100% of those factors are material in nature. There are no supernatural influences at work. If that is true, then the future is necessarily predictable. If you acknowledge this, congratulations! You're a historical materialist. If not, you deny the concept of causality itself.
15
"if a border is contested, the country just stops existing! I am very smart"
14
A capitalist government run by capitalists - so yes, capitalism
14
@futurewarlord99 State enforced slavery is literally capitalism lmao That is what exists, in capitalism, today.
14
You can get rich by stealing, does that mean stealing is a sustainable way to live your life?
14
Eastern Europe, famous for growth and prosperity in the post-soviet period
14
@PlatinumAltaria Love is absolutely material, it exists entirely within your body, which is made up of...matter. By denying the predictability of the future, you necessarily declare causality to be false. So your belief is literally "things happen randomly, science is a joke". The weatherman got his prediction wrong this week too, doesn't mean that the weather is impossible to predict. It's just difficult to do.
13
@PlatinumAltaria So you deny causality itself, you don't believe in physics or chemistry or biology. That's all we need to establish, have fun with vibeology or whatever zoomers believe these days
13
@ExPwner " you don’t really understand economics if you think that an economy can be centrally planned. Nor history, apparently." Bro even corporations are centrally planning allocation of resources, its a fully automated thing by this point Your arguments are decades out of date jesus
13
"I will refer you to the Democracy Index of 2022" You realise this is completely and utterly discrediting to you, right?
13
We're in the third or fourth recession in my life so far, the fuck you mean it's not failing lol
12
"conspiracist rhetoric" oh yeah my man because youtube isn't one of the most heavy-handed social networks out there
12
says the "approves of democracy until the third-world tries it" squad lmao
12
Real quick Stevie who produces those machines that are used to replace labor Oh, workers? Word?
12
For the same reason comparable capitalist nations are poor I suppose? To put it another way, consider for a moment that the vast majority of wealth in the world is concentrated in North America and Europe. That these countries were the centres of global empires isn't a coincidence. Riches plundered from other nations was used to finance the industrialisation of these empires, which led to further riches. The rest of the world had to catch up, only they didn't have the option of funding their own progress with imperial gain. Much of the developing world is funded by loans from wealthier countries, which take a cut of all wealth produced. These loans or finance packages usually come with a catch - allow American or European companies to extract oil or minerals, again keeping the money flowing towards the richest countries. Burkina Faso was the poorest country when it was socialist, and it is still the poorest country 30 years after socialism was stamped out there, do you see what I mean? Poor countries HAVE to be poor, so that rich countries can stay rich.
12
"Oh, you're mad I burnt down your home? Grow up! That was last year!"
12
@WrenchedAdvice Millions of people died but ok
12
Hey real quick who is slaughtering Christians right now? Oh, Israel is? And you're blaming Muslims?
12
I don't mean to be rude but capitalism has yet to go 20 years without failing
12
The last empire? Uhhhhh
12
"Interesting, since liberal countries have the highest life expectancy in the world" "Me?? A serial killer?? Interesting, because I'm actually not even dead 😏" You people short-circuit so bad lmao
12
@dryeik5899 Based on what? Inbreeding?
11
@antlila5300 And what do you think happens after that? Do you think the apples live happily ever after? Look at history, what happens when the racists get their way? Are they happy? Never.
11
Capitalism isn't "when people sell things". That is false.
11
@PheonixKnght Ask yourself where the word "capitalism" comes from. Who made it a popular word? That's right! Our boy Karl Marx. I'm literally using his definition for it.
11
Not lower profit, but a lower rate of profit. Basically put it this way: A capitalist has to pay money to get their product made. They need to pay for materials, tools, and they need to pay a worker to work for them. Let's add the cost all the stuff needed to make a product together (call it C) and keep it seperate from the cost of paying the worker (call it V). The capitalist might think 'If I replace some workers with machines, I save money! I spend less V!' And typically that's correct. But the capitalist has to increase C to reduce V. (Look at 2.45 in the video to see what I mean) The robots aren't free, right? Profit rates fall because C can never create new value. You can transfer the value of the fancy new machine into the product, but that requires more investment, more money coming in. There's only one way to get new value and that's to get a worker to produce it, while paying the worker less than the value of whatever they made is.
11
I mean, you cannot be a revolutionary without being authoritarian on some level. To bring about revolution requires authoritarianism, to force the existing ruling class out means forcing your authority onto theirs. This isn't really an especially egregious example of authoritarianism, the protests were not brutally shut down which is a lot more than we can say for the USA
11
@ExPwner "Because we actually studied economics" This would be a lot more impressive if economists could run an economy for more than 20 years without it burning down lmao Like, imagine a civil engineer demanding to be taken seriously if every bridge collapsed after a generation ahahaha
11
" The problem with America isn’t capitalism it’s society." Society is produced by capitalism, so any failure of American society is a failure of capitalism. "Meanwhile jobs that require manual labor are laughed at" Because they pay like shit "Even though they pay very well." Wrong "The American Dream is dead because nobody is willing to work for it." Oh yeah for sure my man, everybody just decided to lay down and die instead of working
11
"Socialists are absolutists who have no tolerance for people with different viewpoints." Real quick which country spent the 20th century invading every country who voted for the 'wrong' party
11
'federalism and free association' How's that working out, historically
11
@horayshyt Spam all you want, you're the one siding with genocide
11
It absolutely is
11
Technically Scotland was never a colony I don't like to be pedantic but as a Scot I want it to be clear that we profited from all the slavery and imperialism far more than we were victimised by it
10
That awkward moment when you realise that even Lenin wrote how to guides on revolution and this is the only way you can assert any kind of intellectual superiority
10
@markcollins2704 'head commie' Not sure what's more sad, the fact this is what you resorted to or the fact you're also liking your own posts
10
Success and failure predate capitalism though, so I don't understand what you think you're saying? "It's the only 'ism' that allows morons to freely speak their minds" People were opinionating before capitalism, too. "How about the demonstrations in 1989 Tiananmen Square that resulted in brutal massacres? How about the 'freedom' of the protests in Hong Kong that were brutally repressed? How about the terrible state of poverty in North Korea" All of the above happened in capitalist countries too, except worse. "You speak with reckless resolve and represent brainwashing of a media out to serve it's master." That would be a privately owned media, then? So capitalism is to blame?
