  11. females are regularly MORE aggressive than males, especially when protecting young. Males tend to get aggressive only during breeding season. looks fair size if female. might either just not have tusks (happens, all african elephants usually have tusks, but rarely females don't) or the tusks may have been removed by a ranger to prevent poaching.

  40. snake backed off because its job was done. got two good bites in early on. all it had to do was sit there, avoid the chameleon, and wait for the poison to kill it. I see this with rattlesnakes all the time. they strike, then leave to avoid taking any damage themselves. then they just track down the dead animal by smell later.

  46.  @Crocutaalpha  One of my profs on my PhD committee used to raise hyenas at our wildlife research center up in Strawberry Canyon (a bit uphill from UC Berkeley). They acted like little puppies every time they saw him. It was very cute. Anywho, just so you know... you never know who is watching you post misinformation about hyenas.
