I remember Fidel castro gave orders to open the cuban border to the US to encourage cubans sail across the open sea to the US. This was done as a result of the extreme sanctions that the US imposed on Cuba at the time. The same thing is happening all over again.

What Kurt did not say about china (maybe he didn't know) is that, if you as a foreigner can speak the chinese language fluently you will be treated fairly and respectfully in any bad situation you find yourself with a chinese man or, woman. Also, if a foreigner marries a chinese person either a man or woman, you're not by marriage a citizen of China but your children are.

It would have taken decades for Ghaddafy to convince african leaders and the rest of the world at that time, to agree to implement his ideas. Not every international trade or, transactions can be done in gold anyway. The international financial markets for trade and balance of paymenst, is a very complicated one and it is not easy to include gold to be part of it as a payment system.

  47.  thedalillama  The reason why the govt gives back the money with rates below market rates is because, this funds need to be available when seniors need them. Therefore it MUST not be invested in volatile, unpredictable market equity funds. They have to be invested into sound, fixed secured funds, that gives back constant returns no matter how unpredictable the market is. It is dangerous to play "poker" with social security funds.
