I'm surprised this reporter didn't catch onto the attorney's careful wording. I picked up on that immediately and I'm no lawyer.

And how it's downplayed in this report by saying she was "napping", while her parents were "dining nearby". 1. She wasn't napping. The three children were down for the night. 2. The parents weren't nearby. The room couldn't even be seen from where they were. It was a 5 minute walk to the apartment.
44
She literally called 911 and told them exactly what she was going to do. Her husband wasn't even in the same city at the time.
35
She couldn't wipe the smile off her face. @ApohMay
26
I'm concerned about such commenters possibly being on a jury some day. 😳
25
I can't believe how gullible people are. She broke judge's orders to not get the daughter a separate cell phone. There is a very good reason for that. How do you think she lost custody? I guarantee there is much more to the story.
23
She couldn't wipe the smile off her face.
21
@carlf.9035 She called 911 and did not seem distraught in the least. She was found exactly where she said she would be. Why would she buy a gun and go to a remote area to kill herself only to be killed by someone else? His truck was on camera. Having bruises really doesn't mean anything at all. Sometimes an autopsy isn't necessary. We aren't privy to all of the information. That doesn't mean that something shady happened.
20
Including laughing about it.
19
@johnray3927 I don't know what happened in this particular case, but I've lost count of how many times girls around this age claim to have a stalker, when in fact, they just describe a guy who either struck up an innocent conversation or just happened to be at the same place at the same time and glanced their way. Putting aside this horrible case, I do feel for normal guys these days, as they're often accused of being "creepy", when most of the time, they're innocent.
18
@fridaymckenzie1003 Except she spoke in full sentences, including "uuummmm"s, and even laughed.
15
Considering she's an adult and he was charged with obstruction of justice, it seems likely that she was with him by choice. This is the first I've heard of this case, so I could be wrong, but there were no kidnapping charges, so that leads me to believe he did not force her. Whatever the case, what a relief for those parents. I can only imagine what they went through.
14
It's amazing that he could see how bad things could get.
13
The pain of parents who have lost their children has to be unbearable. Not having answers is salt in the wound. Devastating. 😢
12
That would be a whole lot of bad luck.
12
@vanessal2462 I've been following true crime for many years. One thing is very clear - most of the time, men are blamed even if they are the victim. Women are often excused even when their behavior is immoral or even violent. Not every time, but most of the time.
12
Their comeuppance is long overdue. I only hope this brings some closure to Kristin's family. I see the local billboard regularly and always think of them.
10
@DustyRoadz To be fair, the OP just said, "I find it hard to believe..."
10
Why is there a Black Law Enforcement Alliance??
9
@latoyiamackey4642 None of what you said is true. It's very sad and pathetic that you would insert such nonsense in an attempt to cloud this woman's story. Neither you nor Whoopsie seem to understand history. Check out Thomas Sowell for facts.
9
Oh my gosh! Finally a sane comment! I can't believe all of the ridiculous comments going around. I hope none of these people ever end up on a jury.
9
What an odd assumption. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine anyone with a conscience being capable of murdering four people in cold blood, nor can I imagine them turning themself in because they read a comment on YouTube.
9
I've seen ridiculous claims like this a million times. Body cam footage supports officers the vast majority of the time. There are SO many false claims. 🙄
9
@thriftytxmom Right? Reporters make it sound like they were just out on the patio or something. No, they were far away and couldn't see the door. If I remember correctly, they left the sliding door unlocked so it would be easier to come and go. Their behavior has always been very odd. I'm not sure if they had anything to do with her going missing, but they were negligent at the very least.
9
And the room WASN'T visible from where they were.
8
@mysterymaverick1982 Yeah, true. The fact that the twins, who are RARELY ever mentioned, slept through all of that chaos points toward sleeping pills. I do feel for them that she's gone, but they were incredibly negligent at best. If they know what happened to her, then no, I wouldn't feel bad for them. That's a disturbing thought, but some evidence points toward that.
8
Hopefully none of you will ever be on a jury because you all make assumptions before knowing the facts.
8
@sharonhoward884 After all of these years, I've never heard anything about her father. Very interesting.
7
Sick desires have nothing to do with income. 🤔
7
@NicoleA.C.-PhD. I totally agree! Very refreshing. I'm not sure I've ever heard a mistake acknowledged like that by media.
7
His dad said he kept going back to hang out with them even though he told his son not to.
7
@sassynfree884 It's very disheartening to see so many people who can't think critically. It's rather scary to think that they could end up on a jury one day.
7
For all of the conspiracy theorists - she called 911 and told the dispatcher exactly what she was going to do. She was seen buying the gun, parking her car at the park, getting out on her own, etc. There is no evidence that anyone else was around. Yes, John Paul is a sick man, but that doesn't mean he killed her. She had threatened suicide many times prior to this incident.
6
@timchamberlin9280 Very few will, but it's definitely a possibility. It's not unheard of. Pretty women aren't really at more of a risk for being kidnapped. Kidnappers generally choose victims according to opportunity, not looks.
6
@blightedgrounds There is no evidence to back that up. That's actually a huge slap in the face to all of the law enforcement who have worked so hard on this case. We have no idea the depth of the workload it takes to figure out who killed 4 people and gather enough evidence to convict them in a court of law. It's easy to point the finger behind a keyboard.
6
It didn't sound like that to me at all. It sounded like he's being professional, and not adding to nor detracting from what was said or what he thinks. I think he answered very well.
6
While I wish all killers would admit their guilt and tell where the bodies are, there is no way of forcing people to talk.
6
@Existence-zy4gb The devil is just a man made character. This is real life. People end up with twisted desires due to trauma. People who do things like this to minors had them done to them when they were younger.
6
@adoptada12 That's a strange takeaway from my comments. I was simply stating that she clearly took her own life. He was not directly involved in that. As far as John Paul, I think he's a toxic narcissist. He preyed upon the gullible churchgoers. He's a sick, self-centered predator who has nothing good to offer the world. That doesn't mean he killed her.
6
@charlottecoolik9872 How am I protecting him? I'm thinking critically rather than emotionally. JP is a toxic narcissist who preyed upon a vulnerable, impressionable girl. That doesn't mean he directly had anything to do with her suicide.
6
Why are you assuming this girl is telling the truth? Of course if there was evidence of sexual abuse, the doctor would be required to alert the authorities. There is A LOT more to this story.
6
What difference would that make anyway??
6
It's a hint as to how Carlee ended up acting the way she does. Mommy and Daddy cover for her.
5
It's interesting because I heard that somewhere, but then I heard something totally different on another video. That person said they were pretty quiet and would maybe play music out on the deck while they're grilling until maybe 10 to 11:00 p.m.
5
He handled the questions very professionally.
5
@MillennialMetal What would you do differently as a local if police said "a crazy person is on the loose"? We already know that and should be careful.
5
Wow. That does sound similar. 😳
4
@satlva2908 Those are well known facts in this case. Do you support leaving small children alone where you can't see them? It was a 5 minute walk to the apartment.
4
There has been no signs of murder.
4
@OfftoShambala Generally, missing persons are not described as "willingly" getting into a car when there's anything suspicious. I'm not saying it's not possible, as I don't know exactly what happened, but considering she was seen willingly getting into a vehicle, police might know more than what is being told to the public. Also, considering she called her sister, she likely left on her own accord.
