@meatabolichealingUK Of course not. Unfortunately we can't decide what our personal tax is spent on. The fault is in our undemocratic system. I'm more concerned about the richest avoiding tax and paying proportionately less in tax on investments

@johnchristopher3544 Part to vulture capitalism; part to fund mass slaughter? Hard to know with these charlatans.
1
@tez6693 "flawless" and Farage in the same sentence? Not "de-banked" but offered an alternative account. His ego drives a campaign of misdirection.
1
"Flawless?" Really!!! He was not "de-banked" but was offered an alternative account. How does that force him out of the country? His ego is driving a campaign of misdirection. I know that's unusual for old Nige. Lol
1
The real travesty is the amount of publicity and frenzied activity when Foghorn Farage makes a scene. I'm less concerned about his vanity and more for the simple fact that most homeless people are denied a basic bank account. Foghorn was offered an alternative account.
1
So the car is self-driving but if you trust it to do its job you could end up in the do-do. Lol.
1
Selfish and disgusting behaviour. I'm also appallled by it.
1
Trial by government is a step too far. Johnson and his cabal aspire to fascism.
1
Pedestrian crossings offer a sensible solution to a problem that is exacerbated by the stupidity of the new HC rules. Drivers were always expected to give priority to pedestrians in the process of crossing but this new rule and the inept implementation of it cause chaos.
1
This is Britain. Why would we expect a suitable infrastructure for electric vehicle charging before encouraging people to buy them? Let's charge people for overstaying because we can't organise a p1ss-up in a brewery.
1
@Jams848484 as one of "you people" my hatred starts and ends with the promotion of fascism and division by an incompetent minority-elected government. In other words, I don't hate the people they want me to. I Just hate the behaviour of the cabal of crooks and charlatans in power.
1
@Jack-fs2im That's such a narrow view. What choice did they have when council houses were sold off at preferential prices? Some bought by private landlords. Now the collective consists of private landlords. Society is about far more than housing.
1
@Jack-fs2im and look at the long term effects of the reduction in social housing, instigated by Thatcher, continued by Blair, followed by Neoliberal governments. Housing is only one aspect.
1
@Jack-fs2im It took far more than changes in housing to influence our attitudes, as we are fundamentally social animals. Yet society exists when people work together to save lives, when people band together in charitable support. In spite of the promotion of greed and consumerism, there is altruism and society. Thatcher declared a goal demanded by Neoliberalism, instigated at a meeting of the Mont Pelerin Society in 1947. If available choices are reduced, it's harder to blame people for the choice they make. Sadly if opportunity is reduced and society fractures, crime increases.

Farage knows how to appeal to racists, within legal boundaries. He effectively said that muslims do not share British values, but some and not all muslims. Firstly, what are the mythical British values? If they include respect and tolerance then Farage himself fails that test. We have close muslim friends, whose children are British born and well integrated. Perhaps someone will ask him what British values he is talking about. He was made to look like a vacuous schoolboy in the brexit dabates by Nicola Sturgeon, who told him that the foreigners are not to blame for everything. To my knowledge, xenophobia, bigotry and hatred are not illegal, so farage fuels them for his own gain. The unellected self-styled man of the people (a privately educated ex financial trader) gets airtime to spout his bile at the drop of a hat.
1
@tnexus13 sounds plausible. Is that taking back control?
1
@imconfused1237 I haven't researched 5g, which means I have not come to a conclusion about it. I've been told by someone serving in Army signals that there is a valid reason to check potential side effects, which makes me cynical about both extreme positions: abject dismissal and scaremongering. My main concern is about our shoddy planning laws and their abuse - having researched the flawed process and experienced related abuse and incompetence.
1
@evaahh9584 we should be able to watch other channels live without a licanse

Yet telling lies to a serial grifter has a dubious irony.
1
Nigel demands ATTENTION! Any motive beyond that is questionable.
1
Of course there is no defence and limited chances of mitigation but the application of speed limits and use of cameras for speed, instead of concentrating on the more dangerous matter of tailgating is frustrating. In our area the hard shoulder of the westbound motorway has been coned off with a 50mph limited applied and never any workers present. The same coning applies to the eastbound carriageway yet no speed limit is imposed. I urge more complaints to the Highways Agency when such idiotic restrictions are imposed. The more hassle, the greater the chance of better management.
1
Great clarification, thanks.
1
@Tim_Small carry that argument to its logical conclusion and driving a car is selfish.
1
@Tim_Small as you say "most" may be selfish, but not all - provided there is sufficient room for a pram or wheelchair to pass
1
Dirtiest! Wait for the investigation into COVID contracts before you make such a judgement. On a different scale and involved PUBLIC MONEY rather than personal donations.
1
How to create the perfect Mexican standoff. Designed by people at a desk, intent on confusion and mayhem.
1
Ah! Serco! Another outsourcing giant with dodgy connections to our corrupt government. Another day; another nose in the Tory trough.
1
Stop it all for every politician then watch them scream: Tories and Reform especially. All this media hype while the covid enquiry goes virtually unreported.
1
We have a cabinet of sociopaths in a broken society. Some would view selling off state assets as an act of treason. I view it as part of the Neoliberal con (featuring the lie of trickle down.) Privatisation has not offered effective competition, other than possibly in telecoms. Energy, water and rail should be publicly owned.
1
And I was told that all prats drove BMWs LOL
1
So a new excuse? Too busy chasing fraudulent claims to process new ones? On the other hand the government uses their creaking systems as an excuse to deal with the cost of living crisis. How much of this alleged fraud is conducted online because of these creaking vulnerable systems? Another populist announcement from our operationally incompetent and inhumane government
1
Capturing people engaged in what was considered legal protest concerns me, along with the change in such legislation by our fascist government.
1
More disorganised chaos and government mismanagement. In may areas this is impractical. Why not legislate to stop cars fully blocking the pavement, ensuring sufficient access for prams and wheelchairs? Also ensure adequate parking in any new development areas. Britain continually fails to invest in its infrastructure and penalises the target of least resistance: in this case the motorist.
1
@ansc6472 Yes. Generally harder on the left? Where is your evidence? Poor misunderstood Tommy didums...
1
@BruvaBob of course there is a two tier policing system but not necessarily in the weighting of the tiers you mention. I won't comment without factual evidence and I've only seen part of the story, which was clear and obvious.
1
@MrDwright550 And when did that happen and where is your evidence? I'm not the one who broke through the police barriers.
1
As was Johnson with Russian money. Sunak with his family interests. Our latest crop of politicians are self-serving sociopaths.
