all these renters need to be Forced to repay every penny, with interest. They can work it off. People need to learn a lesson, the hard way if necessary. No mercy here from me because as a responsible taxpayer I keep having to foot the bill for all this crap!

Socialism, where individuals cannot own businesses. And then you get Communism because owning private property enables farming and other things considered businesses.

The Cultural values of the Left are inferior to the cultural values of the Libertarians and Conservatives.

My immune system is strong due to exposure to nature.

Their punishment needs to be forced work parties to fix the city to the tune of the damage they caused, plus some.
6
They even tried for Days to claim it was the Republicans who had defunded the police.

less taxes from business, as well as lost wages and jobs. leads to fewer citizens of CA, leads to all the supporting businesses closing and the loss of tax and wage revenue there as well................
5
This why there needs to be no mercy in making these irresponsible renters pay back everything they owe. So tired of the rest of us having to pay for their mistakes, either through price hikes or through taxpayer funded bailouts. Teach these people a hard lesson they'll never forget, and set an example for other people going forward.

and those 42000 were most likely lower income, natives, etc.
5
being held accountable for not paying rent? you better be afraid. Failing to fulfill a legal contract, and "theft" is a crime.
4
@wvanyar1801 For most it wasn't even poor planning. They simply refused to pay, despite their gov checks, and were hoping the gov would forgive their debt from not paying rent.
4
@raykirkham5357 those forced out of their homes fall under item #1, and he wasn't dismissing them. He's absolving himself of responsibility for other peoples' self inflicted problems. And in a free country, he's free to ignore problems not of his own making. You are free to assume responsibility for those who refuse to take care of themselves (#2), but you don't get to force others to accept that responsibility against their own free will.
4
.........not even considering their high speed rail project.
4
this is why more people need brush guards.
3
@Anon1mous Some people in Congress don't even live in the states they represent.
3
they will, they do....
3
blocking a road is a crime, even before considering the heat.
3
How else will they get their daily dose of propaganda?
3
Portland: trying to compete with Chicago and NYC for title of "Gotham City".
3
don't you dare vote democrat if you leave CA. stop bringing your problems to our states.
3
3. Capital Punishment for certain crimes 4. Enforce the laws 5. incentivize citizens to defend themselves and their communities against criminals.
2
when was "open air" drug use legal?
2
we need to limit voting to net contributors to society. if you receive more money from the gov than you pay in taxes, you should not be allowed to vote. Social Security retirees is not the same as people paid into it to receive it back. Veterans on disability is not the same as they sacrificed for the nation. so there are a few exceptions. But only contributing members of society should be allowed to vote.
2
and then everyone else gets priced out of home ownership by inflation pricing, and the corresponding property tax bill hikes.
2
forced overtime is illegal
2
@shwngbr nope, still illegal. Those people can quit any time they like.
2
@secrets2youth I'm with you. I've seen this sort of behavior far too often in other aspects of society as well. We definitely need more people with your attitude in our "modern" society.

@iworkout6912 Yes, many live in DC, but more so that that. One of the reps of CA lives in MA mostly when not in DC, for example.

@armoredghost6180 barely still standing, they are deeply in debt, things are failing, can't manage their resources, etc. Russia still exist, North Korea still exists, etc. doesn't mean it isn't a failed state.
2
You mean the guy who took part in these riots is now going to hold them responsible? is he going to arrest himself?
2
if a rental owner sells his property to a new owner who is not in teh business of renting, making the building no longer a rental property, how can they enforce this?
2
socializing rent payments? forcing taxpayers to pay the rent of others?
2
why don't these protestors got to the WEF and protest the people who flew in on private jets?
2

2
Show me the statistics that their jobs are hazardous...
2
since when did the government dictate private contracts?
2
blocking the road is a crime
2
given the number of jobs available, these laws are outright senseless
1
"don't feed the animals", that's why spending more money on homeless people doesn't work.
1
knew this would happen. Reduced productivity. I never left the workplace, I can't get as much done. I like to keep work and home separate.
1
police chiefs have no power over where individuals choose to live
1
you told the truth, Ministry of Truth can't allow that.
1
it's Not gun violence. It's what happens when you tell criminals that they wont be punished for their crimes. Guess what, they carry out more crimes. if you don't enforce the rule of law, the rule of law has no power. The plan is more cops, more convictions, more severe punishments that are focused on what actually deincentivizes future crime of the same type, and rehabilitation measures for certain criminals.
1
imagine that, enforcement of the rule of law is necessary to a civilized society. who could have warned them that was the case? why didn't we know such things sooner?
1
look at all that rent free housing for the homeless.....way to go Portland....
