  8. freedom requires an educated population. In the US this meant everyone needed the opportunity to get an education. Unfortunately the politicians always misunderstand things like simple English and instead understood that to mean the Government had to provide that education. Instead of ensuring everyone had Access to an education, they forced gov run education upon everyone.

  23.  @hotdogg268  not at all. Often times burning more gas is the right answer. I am a CFI and one lesson I always taught to new Commercial Pilots was that of money. I'd ask them if it made more sense to fly a paying customer economically to save fuel, or to just pour it on and fly as fast as practical. They always answered to save gas and save the customer money. But them I'd ask them how much money they'd save by flying economically on a 2hr flight in a given airplane, vs going fast. They calculate the amount. And then I'd point out to them than the airplane costs more per hour to operate than the fuel it burns. And that time is money, and the customer will both save more money by burning the gas and flying faster, as well as be happy the flight took less of their time as well. If I'm saving energy, it has nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with spending less money on certain things, so I have more I can spend on things I actually care about. I avoid beachfront properties as they are overpriced and lack all the features that makes a property valuable to me. I don't eat bugs, but you're free to do so if you like. There is quite literally nothing I hate more than hypocrites. Something else I despise are morons like yourself that like to go after people for no reason. The kind of person who can't generate a coherent valid logical argument to save their lives. You obviously can't read. As your response is a direct contradiction to my first comment in this thread, in the context of the original post.

  28. i slept in math class. i'd get it the first time, and then have to sit for an hour waiting for everyone get it explained to them for the 15th time. my teacher started handing out assignments as we entered the class, just so I had something to do. I'd get my homework done before the class was over while he explained it to everyone else. I'm grateful that he did that for me.

  33. They think you are voting against your own interests. But that is because they cannot accept that the ideas they are proposing simply do not work. They fail to account for nature, fail to understand human nature. they truly believe they can bring about utopia. but for their ideas to work, absolutely every single person must participate and behave perfectly all the time. This simply isn't how reality works. Worth looking at is the Hawks and Doves studies. They prove that crime can never be eliminated, only minimized. accidents cannot be eliminated, only minimized. inequality cannot be eliminated, only minimized. Nature (physics? call it what you like) simply does not allow imbalance to exist. They try to build systems that fight nature, rather than work with nature.

  35.  @f-86zoomer37  How about public platform laws be enforced. Censorship and "fact Checking" is editorializing. They are "publishing" select content, while rejecting others. You cannot do this on a platform. When free to the public platforms are used as a primary means for political representatives to communicate with their constituents, you no longer have the right to censor them. Ona public platform you are free to ignore content you don't like or agree with. But when private entities control the means of communication for a nation, they become more powerful than the gov itself. This is unacceptable. This is where regulation to ensure a free and fair market exists are necessary. Yes, many of us want a smaller gov, but a gov that still performs its primary functions, such as border security, and in enforcing free market capitalism by preventing monopolies and monopolistic behavior, by preventing lobbyists from overriding the will of the people, by passing laws favoring small businesses and startups over larger businesses, that lets businesses succeed or fail on their own merits and not allowing bailouts, and not allowing businesses to grow so large that they require bailouts to avoid a larger economic collapse, and they can under the idea of monopolistic behavior. "Too big to fail" is an effective monopoly.

And periodically we need to retest our assumptions, theories, and "facts" as new information and ideas emerge in order to ensure they still hold up. A selfish individual realizes they can accomplish more, and are safer overall from the hazards of life, when they find others who they can work with peacefully without fear of harm. These larger groups of cooperating individuals can better defend against and defeat smaller hostile groups and hostile individuals, and they can delegate responsibilities and pool their resources to be more efficient. Self interest, selfishness drives this. People are better off overall through mutual cooperation than alone, so selfishness drives participation.
