It requires active gov intervention to preserve and protect the free market. But instead the gov is bribed by the corporations to do the biding of the corporations, and you get corporatism, and socialism (when the gov thinks they can run the economy better than free people).

  7.  @waycoolscootaloo  exactly, I hate cloud based software (and I design supercomputers). I refuse to buy a phone that requires me to use cloud services. I will go back to a flip phone if I have to. I bought by first flip phone cellphone at 21, and had that for many years. Only bought my first smartphone 6yrs ago, a Samsung Galaxy S3, which I replaced 2yrs ago with a budget Samsung smartphone. I use it for text, talk, weather, GPS, camera. I can do those things without their stupid phones if I have to, just like I was doing previously only 6yrs ago.

  10.  @MattyEngland  fair. but make no mistake, I do not owe content creators ANYTHING. They post their content out there relying on DONATIONS from people, and ad revenue via YouTube. Youtube steals a lot for ad revenue from creators, far more than is lost due to adblockers. And even when adblockers are not in play, the ad revenue alone for most youtubers is not enough to live on. It's not my job to rescue people from bad choices in their lives. If they are struggling being a youtuber, then they need to find a better career. Much of what is on Youtube can be found elsewhere for free in books, articles, other free sites, etc. I can find all this stuff on my own, and often times do a far better job communicating, understanding, or analyzing the data for topics I'm interested in than a typical Youtuber does. Why would I pay for that? I wouldn't. I use youtube out of convenience. when it ceases being convenient, I will stop using it.

  11. I work in the tech industry as a Mechanical Engineer and refuse to connect anything to wifi other than having the ability to surf the internet on my computers. House, kitchen, car, etc. will never be connected. I will rip that crap out and replace it with physical switches if I have to, or design/build my own stuff.

Do you know how many Americans these days don't have a driver's license? "Or traffic signals?" I see tons of people like you running red lights, ignoring stop signs, not obeying right of way, speeding, all day every day, driving the wrong way, etc, so yes apparently. But vaccines and viruses are about acts of nature. People cannot be held accountable for tornadoes, or viruses, or hurricanes, or flash floods, or the actions of others. Those who fear COVID have tons of options. They can get vaccinated if they want, they can wear a mask if they want. they can stay home if they want. The only ones at risk are eth ones not doing these things. If 100 people are on an airline flight, and 10 aren't vaccinated, what are the vaccinated ones so afraid of? they are protected, the unvaccinated are the ones who should be worried, since the vaccinated could be infected still. But those still unvaccinated are NOT worried about a virus with such a low death rate, particularly among the younger age groups, and that has multiple known effective treatments available.

Louis is not a contractor nor employee of Apple and is under no obligation nor has any need to sign one. I work in the computer industry and we use NDA's as well, to protect R&D proprietary properly, but nothing more. We don't use it to go after youtubers.

  20.  @skylinefever  valid points, but not every industry is like the car industry either, and there are other ways to make sales than building things that break (even if lasting just long enough to not piss off customers, they are still designed to break).

  21.  @ChristopherCricketWallace  exaclty. i worked for a company that got bought by a large corporation. we built better stuff that our customers loved and kept buying and built a reputation, and the corporation came along and started focusing on cost cutting. Our stuff cost More to make, has constant issues, losing the reputation and customer loyalty, etc. they claim to care about cost, but our engineer driven model was far cheaper, far faster, more innovative, and could sell more product each year becasue it worked. our products only have3-10yr life cycles and sales cycles too, due to constant advancement in technology, not because our machines can't last decades (and they have lasted that long in the past). They use quarterly budgeting now, and it is totally incompatible with what we do. They give you a budget and expect you to spend it or lose it, but the budegt never coincides with development cycles of when we neeed to purchase prototypes etc,a nd so we keep losing or budget just by default for no reason. can't build stuff without a budget.

  22. just stop relying on warranties in the first place. we knew they were a marketing scam all along anyways. people offer useless warranties to get you to buy their crap, make you think you're getting a good deal. warranties never used to be a thing. Buy stuff with the intention of making it last and fixing it yourself. I buy stuff regardless of warranties, and never intend to use a warranty, so I have no concerns over violating a useless warranty and I just fix my stuff and take care of it and move on. As a result of my life choices, my stuff lasts longer, is a better deal overall, I spend less than everyone around me for the same stuff, corporations can't control me, etc.

  23. We had this stuff happen in Iraq back in 2007. Civilian contractors were supposed to repair all of our specialty vehicles for us. One week we were getting hit by IEDs a fair amount and were running out of operational vehicles. Civilians said it would take 2 weeks to fix one of the trucks so that we'd have enough vehicles to run the next day's mission. We argued with them and they refused to work any faster. Us and our mechanics offered to help, they refused, citing the contract. Eventually after many back and forth arguments over many hours, we just broke into their shipping containers full of parts and took the axles, tires, etc we needed, hauled them and our truck down to Our motor pool and fixed the truck in less than 5hrs, and took it on mission the next day. We, the individuals, didn't sign a contract with them, and we had a combat mission to complete. They weren't going to stop us. Had they actually tried to stop us, I think that would qualify as treason.

Socialism is where all business is owned or controlled by the gov. Redistribution of wealth is the stepping stone to communism and de-incentivizes people to work, leading to economic collapse. Sweden tried socialism decades ago, their economy stagnated and was on teh verge of failing, so they switched back to capitalism and their economy flourished once again. Look at Zimbabwe, or Cuba, or Russia, or other socialist countries to see how well it works (not).

Amazon is trying to control the price products are sold at on non-Amazon websites and venues. They have no legal right to do this. Amazon doesn't get to set the prices of other businesses and their products.

  33.  @ModelLights  but Amazon charges a fee, hence the price hike on Amazon, and companies are 100% within their rights to do this. It's also a standard marketing strategy of business to direct customers back to their main website, just like how companies offer deals for buying their stuff in different times and venues because it saves everyone money if the customer buys it that way or at that time. If it costs more to sell on Amazon, companies have the right to increase the price on Amazon to cover the additional fee.

  50. my idea has always been that property taxes on commercial properties needs to go up dramatically every single month it sit empty, to the point the owner can't afford to keep it. The moment it gets rented out or sold, the taxes drop again. This forces companies and owners to use it, or free it up for others to use it, and forces them to rent it out at more fair prices (otherwise everyone can just wait and force them to sell or drop their rent prices to avoid the gov taxes).
