If they can define what is/isn't essential, we're already basically succumbing to communist central gov control of the economy.   10.  @depthcharge6215  clearly not. DIY means do it yourself. you didn't do it yourself. You don't hire people to DIY stuff. You DIY. If you're going to hire someone, find reputable people. Just because someone is certified, has a degree, etc. does NOT mean they are competent. You still have to learn which people do good work and which don't. you're bad decisions and/or experiences in no way detracts from DIY. If you don't like DIY, then don't do it and hire people. But the rest of us will continue to DIY and you can mind your own business and not tell everyone else what is or is not acceptable to them.

You hired a person to fix your AC who was incompetent, and you blame DIY. Maybe if you'd fixed it yourself or hired a reputable mechanic you wouldn't be in this mess. You made choices in teh free market, and now you're mad you have to deal with them. but just because You had a bad experience and mad bad choices, doesn't mean the rest of us needs to care or want to be helpless and depend upon dealers and corporations to fix things. If a person such as myself wishes to void the warranty of the product I purchased, that is my right to do so.

  20. a little fun helps creativity and destressing. if they are above average in productivity when getting things done, they can still have some fun while getting more done than an average person, and be better overall employee. That being said, employees need to be smart enough to know that when people are watching, shenanigans need to be put aside until people leave. Perception is important, even if having a little fun helps productivity and worker satisfaction.

  28.  @Huskie  you don't need a monthly subscription to own/use a cellphone nor a computer. Computers don't require the internet to work, and cellphones work over wireless as well. Years ago when I was deployed to Afghanistan, a guy was using his touch screen iPod to call home over the internet. He used it to get online and access and internet phone service, and the iPod had a microphone in it. People owned computers for decades before the internet became a normal thing, I lived in those days and learned on and used computers before internet was available to everyone (and still do). I use my cellphone solely on wifi daily as I dont have cell reception where I work. Also, free wifi is everywhere these days. You buy the device, free and clear, and use it as you see fit. if you choose to buy internet or cell service, you're free to do so, or not, at your own discretion. When I buy a car, I own the car and everything in it and physically connected to it (like heated seats).

  34.  @alex15095  yes, that is living in fear. you can't stop this virus from entering the country, in fact, it's already there. It's too late to have any hope of eradicating it now. The death rate is low, doctors know how to treat it now (multiple ways), there is a vaccine, the majority of people dying from it are old and have complicating factors (it's normal for old people to die of things like pneumonia and such), the deaths are being overcounted in many places like the US resulting in the low death rate being stated to be higher than it actually is, etc.

How to solve problems you haven't even encountered yet by taking what you do know, and figuring out how to apply it to what you need to figure out. But now, modern colleges are just engaging in training. They tell you what to think, and focus instead on how to do specific tasks. They teach you to do a particular job, rather than teaching you how to problem solve things which have no instructions, which you've never been explicitly been taught how to do before.
