  4. Why do people still talk like Russia has ANY chance of winning at this point. Russia's best units (airborne, Spetznaz, Chechnyans, etc) were defeated Months ago, and they are so desperate now they are sending untrained civilians to fight with no equipment. if that's the best they can do after mobilization, the Russian military is already eviscerated and on it's last leg. There is nothing left of any consequence in Russia for them to send to Ukraine that would make a difference at this point. They have lost more men in 7months than the US lost in Vietnam. Want to compare this to past Russian conflicts? Russia lost 15k troops in 9yrs in Afghanistan, 451 aircraft (75% of that was helicopters), only 150 tanks, 1300 misc vehicles, and 400 artillery, and 11k trucks. Over 10yrs. Russia has lost WAY more than that in only 7months in Ukraine. Contrast this to 7months in Ukraine with now well over 50k dead, countless more wounded and POWs. Hundreds of aircraft lost, including well over 100 fixed wing (about 8 more lost in just the last week or so?), over 1000 tanks lost or captured, thousands of trucks, artillery, air defenses, thousands of APC and other armored vehicles lost or captured. And tons of other weapons, ammo, etc. Russia can't even make more equipment to replace its losses and is buying artillery ammo from North Korea. And Russia is running out of missiles of all types, and those they fired had about a 60% failure rate. Russia is taking WW2-level casualties. The US didn't even lose people at this rate in WW2.

  10. NVIDIA GPUs could cost $5k each for years now, fi you want teh top tier GPUs. $2k is nothing. And these prices are rounding errors compared to what data center GPUs cost. I design computers that spend north of $20k per GPU. You're not getting one of these GPUs to install in your gaming computer, unless years from now you buy an old server to use.

But in teh modern age, we've taken small suicide speed boats seriously starting with USS Cole, and have many procedures and defensive measures in place as a result. We could probably improve them some more, but we've already been considering this specific threat for decades. Everyone else is way behind the curve.

  25. 2:40 this is not true. The GPUs were doing graphics and other things before the gamers got access to them. Go study up on Cray, SGI (NVIDIA is an off shoot from SGI), and others. I've worked with guys who were involved in inventing what you now know today s the GPU, and they weren't invented for gaming.

  27.  @bilic8094  and very easy to strike again, in multiple places, all at once, and then you have to ship rail parts, not by rail, to fix. and rail hubs, loading/unloading, etc. are vulnerable too. there is a reason railroads have not played a major role in warfare since WW1. Look how easily the US cut german railroad supply lines in WW2.

Lets face it, Russia's navy consists of many derelict ships, ships that can't sail like it's carrier, and it lacks the industrial capacity and economy to build more in any appreciable numbers. Russia is a shadow of it's former self (and even that wasn't great) and is desperate to cling to the false ideas about its own military might.

  41. consider that Russia has already lost 50k dead (according to official russian docs), and wounded is typically at least 2-3x as many as dead. Not to mention the many thousands captured since Feb 2022. Russia has easily lost over 200k soldiers in Ukraine already when you add it all up (dead, captured, wounded, etc. basically combat ineffective). 300K is only going to replace losses.

  45. playing video games does NOT translate into IT skills. modern young programmers are actually terrible. just look how bad computer software has gotten over the past 20yrs. Young engineers never grew up tinkering and taking stuff apart and have no mechanical intuition.

"Building, tinkering, designing better solutions, is something I do on a daily basis, but not on computers... " and it's something the younger generations largely do not do at all. "I just wanted to play the games, not tinker... Playing games was the entire motivation to switch on a computer - 100% of it and motivation matters..." yet, you did anyways, because you had to in order to play the games. younger generations don't have to anymore, as games are readily accessible in many ways.
