@nessnness I am afraid that it is women who are afraid of men, not vice versa and I do not mean that women are being afraid of being hit by men. I mean that they are afraid of standing up to men.

@zhangshiyucao Every child, whether from a progressive society or not, should be a wanted and loved child. Children are not fashion accessories that people take that they have a right to have just to show that they, the people, are normal and are "doing their bit" for society. There are too many children in this world whose parents wanted them at one time, then found that they could not cope with them and abandoned them. That is no better.

@tubester4567 All communities either die out or merge into another. How many history books have we read about ancient tribes, which seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth,whether they had children or otherwise? It is just like the town in which you are now living. Five thousand years ago, it was probably a wilderness. In five thousand years' time, another town will be in its place and there will be no sign of your current town. Things change with the times. You cannot stop that, whether you have children or not.

I think, Name Less, that it is not only a desire to control female security, but - dare I say it - a desire to stop women getting assimilated. This can also apply to men, though.

@redfirebelle It is the desire not to move forward with the times that is the problem. A lot of the problems do not stem from the scriptures themselves but from the social attitude of the time. In no scripture does it say that women must dress modestly or bear twenty children - that is a social attitude of the time. It is, as someone else on this board writes, life expectancy was short and people died young. The sad thing about this is that some people are still in this time warp, even though they were not born at the time and force it on their children and grandchildren.

@voyance4elle I am afraid that there is still prejudice in the world. Read the chstrooms of do e newspapers. Many people object to women being in the army, for instance.

@zhangshiyucao You should not have children just for the sake of it. Every child needs to be wanted and loved. Having children just because it is considered to be the main preserve of women is not doing the children any favours and the children will not be happy to be told that their mothers had them only "in order to preserve the community."

@mrcannonfodder23 If men cannot control themselves, they need help. Look at the recent murder of Sarah Everard. It was a man who raped and killed her. Do not tell me that she brought it on on herself, just because she is a woman. No respectable person,male or female, would condone what he did.

@redfirebelle You are so right. However, there are still people who torment women about bring unmarried and believe that a woman is nothing without a man and who think that a woman should not divulge her real age if she is unmarried, not even to kith and kin. Most people who think that an unmarried woman should not divulge her really age may mean well, but, usually, if you have to hide your age, it means that you have a problem with it. It is like being unable to go out without wearing a mask or disguise. Being mocked for being single can be annoying if you hear it on a regular basis.
