It’s been three years and Ukraine is still free and independent. You’re not paying attention. I spent my entire military career planning combat against the Soviet Union. What I’m seeing in the last 3 years is shockingly bad and not an indicator that russia powerful.

They’re doing so poorly that they’re having to import North Koreans to help them out. They’re putting tanks from the 1960’s into combat. It’s almost three years later and Ukraine is still free and functioning. Most of the vatniks trolling here are quite stupid and have never heard of strategic retreat. By giving ground Ukraine preserves its troops and equipment while giving new troops time to be trained and new aid packages to arrive in Ukraine and be deployed. It also costs russia enormous amounts of men, money and equipment to take any of these mostly insignificant locations.

Therefore a war of attrition means both sides are attempting to gradually wear down the other as opposed to maneuver warfare which uses initiative, originality and surprise to avoid an opponent’s strengths while exploiting their weaknesses and attacking their critical vulnerabilities.
