  4. Also look up the NATO-Russia Founding Act of 1997. In none of those treaties was there any promise whatsoever to refuse to allow former USSR satellite nations to join NATO if they wanted. And wow have they wanted to. Guess no one misses the heavy, crude Russian boot on their necks.

  8. Not for nothing. It's clear from street interviews of ordinary Russians that too many of them feel Ukraine is "theirs". Not a single one of Putin's opposition candidates, even the late Alexy Navalny, repudiated Russian imperialism. It's going to take them awhile to get it through their heads that they're not in a position to empire anymore.

Sort of like when those folks lofted a balloon to spy on us, and instead we scoped out a great deal of information as to their capabilities and methods and the state of their technology.
