Parity, every budget agreement has required an equal amount of money spent between military and social programs.  Republicans want to spend 180 billion more on military.  So 180 billion must be spent on the needs of the middle class.  What Bernie doesn't say is that the military budget goes to interests that support Republicans ... some might call this corruption. When you think about this, it is not enough and eventually not going to work.  When we spend money for government programs deliberately sabotaged by Republicans it is not the same outcome and giving defense contractors and the military money and having that money go to an elite 0.01% who then funnel it back to right-wing think tanks and campaign contributions to destroy social programs.  If this happens things get worse every year until they eventually collapse. For a better undestanding of these dynamics read the Thomas Frank book "The Wrecking Crew" and understand what Americans are up against.

Bernie and people - you have to remember that the motto of the extremist libertarian Republicans that now own and control this country - it is "all taxation is theft", and they refuse to do anything for people just because they are people. Read Thomas Franks the Wrecking Crew to really understand the genocidal intent of these people and their special psychotic hatred for us and government. As Noam Chomsky has often claimed from them "all for ourselves, nothing for anyone else", they mean to have it all, and they pretty much do now, and they do not care if they have to use violence, lie, cheat or steal, that is they way they think the world should work and it is a waste of time trying to help or save the weak.

  5. I see where you want to go with that, but the American people are not smart enough to deal with the complexity of that. Can you imagine the confusion of older people or people who do not understand math or English? The only other thing I could think might help the country is a national website where people can be polled on the issues. Assuming we could verify that these people were real people and real Americans. I think the voting for people beauty contest doesn't work, particulary since the people we get vote the issues according to how much money they get. There is a good talk on this in the new NetFlix documentary "Saving Capitalism" by Robert Reich. Some really good information in that.

Trump is not a populist, he is a demagogue fascist, and I would not be a bit surprised if almost all of his support is manufactured, like his first announcement for President when he paid people $50 to show up and fill out the crowd. Republicans are desperate to seem more than they are, and they will do anything to maintain their power ... we must be ready to counter them any way that is necessary.

  8. The point is that companies in American as they are today could not exist if people were not kicked down and stomped on to be intimidated and extorted into working for virtual slave wages. Even if that was the way it has to be for some kind of economic reasons, which I do not believe, then there should be a cap on rich people's income and power. America is going down based on this corruption and the inhuman people who run the government and nod to each other about what is fair and set reality in AM radio shows. At least a few times Americans need to make the effort to be heard and vote. Why don't they vote? OR, do they vote and we just get a fake story about that vote? I honestly wonder?

That's not a bad idea and and effective maximum wage could be implemented by a steep progressive tax where the rates at the top end are up around 70-90% when someone is making levels of income, any income, earnings or capital gains, in the 10s or millions and billions ... that is too much because it corrupts the political process.

Because most of the money in the economy is going up to the top 0.01% there is less money out circulating in the economy, and the measurement of the velocity of money is decreasing to its lowest point since the Depression and the economy is not growing - precisely due to the fact that workers have no money to buy things.  If you raise the minimum wage it is like a stimulus to the economy and spurs hiring and production.  The Republican guy has his lines down, but he doesn't really understand that he is talking about.

Big difference today, the information age means that those with money and power can basically program the society in the way they want.  The regular people are not used to looking for these cheats to them, and they also do not think or have the feeling this is anything they can do anything or should do anything about, because previously life was not like this. Today, human beings, citizens are put on a conveyor like little chicks that have just been born and if they don't like something you did you'll never see it or understand it but you get grabbed and thrown away, culled out, and as long as this is in view of the political elite they all now what to say to make it stick. People need be educated in what is going on in tech, and a lot of possible abuse must be understood and changed so that it does not work against the citizens.

  31. If the vote for open for everyone who wanted to vote, then Bernie would have won. He is what we need, and yes, the establishment is going to fight that any and every way they can. I would not be a bit surprised to hear that most of the pro-Trump comments on YT are fake. I do think Hillary has a lot of support because she has been around for such a long time, but she has also been the victim of right-wing propaganda for decades. Maybe Bernie in 4 years ...   32. Coding ... Given that almost all of the races were very close, I do think that Bernie would have won the popular vote. The thing is that people who wanted to vote for Bernie were often not registered, or registered in the wrong party, or did not know the rules so their votes ( like in NY and CA ) could not be cast or counted. If everyone who wanted to vote for Bernie could have, and there were no super-delegates I think he would have won, I don't claim or know if it would have been a landslide, but the middle class of this country is on the ropes, and people who think Trump are going to do something about that are delusional. Bernie was the only one, and he had good solid ideas. Also ... I think Bernie was the healthiest of all the candidates.

Trump is the mascot of the Russki-Publican racist, nationlistic GLOBALIST agenda to break up government, destroy safety nets, destroy unions, destroy social programs, the public sector and replace it with oligarchic tryanny .... this is total freedom - ONLY FOR BILLIONAIRES and their cronies. The reality always turns out to be greater than what we see. They said Russia did not interfere in our 2016 election - that was wrong. They said that Russia did not affect the outcome of the election, but that was probably wrong too. They say there was no collusions, and that is almost certainly wrong because so many of Trump's close advisors have had connections to the Russians - if Trump's contacts were limited, that is why, he did it through handlers like his porn payouts. This old world order doesn't care about efficiency or morality, just money, power and leveraging technology they can buy to oppress and enslave the working and middle classes and pick who they want to survive and who want to work to death or just exclude. Does anyone trust Trump's morality with that kind of power?

A military weapon is an automatic weapon with destructive bullets. Second, I don't hunt, and it doesn't matter, the point I am making is that there is no difference, or not much difference as I wrote in my comment which maybe you did not bother to read or have bad reading comprehension. A basic AR-15 is virtually no different from a hunting rifle. I don't own a gun, but I plan to move out to the country soon and I want a gun in case I have to defend myself. I would get a pistol, a shotgun and a gun like an AR-15 because they are generic, relatively inexpensive and a tried and true design. They are also small and maneuverable in a defensive situation. They are not assault rifles really, there is a lot of bad press on them. I am not getting a bump stock or converting it to automatic. You need to learn some things, and number one is politeness.

  47. Inflation is so high these days by the time they get to putting a living wage in place, it won't be a living wage. They say there is not much inflation but every time I go to the store it is about $50 for half a sack of groceries now when it used to be about $25 not to long ago.
