More Peter Hitchens
19
19:19 - Uniting Noam Chomsky and Henry Kissinger Hitchens really nails it with style and intelligence ... and humor!
13
20:28 - Mearsheimer the truthteller.
11
18:13 - Peter Hitchens on a quick history of NATO expansion - remarks on how odd that George Kennan, Henry Kissinger and Noam Chomsky agree on something! Brilliant!

People are starting to see how much they have been lied to about Ukraine.

Israelis are not committing genocide - but with the never-ending utter hate from Palestinians - that has been there since the beginning - and even before - it would be hard to blame them since the Pals are dedicated to Israel genocide in their Constitution. I think the Israelis believe that the only way they can resolve this and live in peace is to push the Palestinians into Egypt, Jordan, and maybe Iraq - but the ideal place would be that panhandle of Jordan which is far removed from Israel. I don't blame them for thinking that way, if they do. I do think it would allow both groups to cool off and get along with their lives.

Hmmm, to me Martin sounded like a troll when he seriously tried to attach some meaning to comparing the heavier losses of Russia in Ukraine to the 20 year losses of the US in Afghanistan. There is really no comparison, and no use in making the comparison other than to try to frame Russia as losing, which they clearly are not.
6
1 - More weapons - Make the war longer so more people and more cities are destroyed. 2 - More sanctions - Further alienating a major country into desperation, leading to a broader and more destructive war. which by the way is ruining economies and people's lives all over the world so the US/NATO can pretend a victory to make up for Afghanistan, and ignore China. He talks morality - I am not sure that is not supposed to be humor or not? 3 - There was nothing stopping Ukraine from having a European future, except the fact that the West/NATO/US does not want Russia to have a European future, so the whole point of this BS drill is trying to peel away Ukraine - whether it is good for Ukraine or not. So far, Western attachments have not been good for Ukraine. Their main heavy industries are being dismantled so they do not come into competition with the West, and EU - leading to massive unemployment and an exodus from Ukraine or Ukrainians at the rate of about a million a year. They don't even get gas from Russia - Russia's gas goes through Ukraine to the West, where it is diverted and sent back to Ukraine and sold for a profit - costing Ukrainians more for energy in that cold country. This guy is typical of what we are hearing - banging the drum for war so we right to the last Ukrainian. This is going to be all about putting Ukraine in debt so the West can loan them money for reconstruction and gain control of the whole country to suck resources out. They don't want or care about Ukrainians.

From what we've seen in the last weeks, the one thing that seems a predictable trend is that the "West", meaning the USA, doesn't want to lose, and they will escalate as much as necessary to win, up to and including using nuclear weapons - but they are hoping to force Russia to use them first, as they force Russia to make the first military move - in that I solidly blame the West and NATO because this was so unnecessary. Something was said like this was the easiest war to avoid and the easier war to end ... but it hasn't been because it is being pushed on all global channels by the West. The USA/UK/NATO, etc needs to explain to people something more than Putin is a bad guy, and tell us why at this time is it so necessary to force him into a war and crush Russia - risking global destruction and also outside of the civilized way of change?

Great discussion. Thank you ... I've been looking and looking for an intelligent conversation and analysis of this Ukraine/Russia thing.
5
Mearsh is AWESOME. Love this guy! But I think he is wrong about Israel, they have no choice.
5
It's not like the US does not have hidden, covert ways to rating and assessing American citizens.
4
I love Peter Hitchens' cool headed informed perspective.

Once I was stopped for a traffic stop by the police. They did not give me a ticket, but they did mention that every time an American has an encounter with the police notes are entered into a record, and they are never deleted and you cannot request access to them. The Chinese system sounds fairer and more public than this. I don't like the idea of the intrusion and the ability to make false assumptions or class differences between people, but there are a lot of jerks in the world who like cut you off in traffic and then insult you by flipping you off, or people who lie about you at work, or your neighbors gossiping, or people who are just rude in a way that there is no legal remember to. It is not a bad idea to know and track these people, but who wants to be known by their worst day of the dumbest thing they've ever done permanently and for the rest of their life?
3
WTF is UK doing with an Indian Prime Minister?
3
@davidclarke9783 Lennon was a hypocrite, and the way he treated his first son Julian and did not provide for him in his will is downright shameful ... and he was a hero of mine.
3
@monsieurgrigny I am sure you're a bot.
3
And by the way, "F" Tucker Carlson for having a "Roosevelt Dead" picture in view of the camera - totally shows his whole point of living ... not to deliver news or even opinion, just to agitate and promote Right-wing insurrectionist noise and nonsense.
3
@Chris Viking You are sorry ... as in nothing to say and no point to make.
3
Like what, please give me an example ... I've never listened to the guy and all I hear is negativity ... so, why is he smart?
2
Have no idea who that is, but what is a deluded EU fanboy, and what is wrong with that?
2
Funny, Mike Martin comparing the Russian losses in Ukraine to the US losses in Afghanistan - like it means something - like it makes the US Afghanistan debacle somehow valid or sensible???? A typical blathering propagandist. Sorry, but Mike Martin is just another cheerleader for the West and we are gobbling it up and being manipulated by it.

24:00 - Pine panelling is better and the same expense as drywall? That's absurd. If you want natural wood you better be very rich, which I guess Tucker Carlson is ... still though, let's cut down the Amazon rainforest so we can all not have to be exposed to drywall? Now that is idiotic.
2
29:00 - Seems to me that on the matter of Ukraine, the US President is just the mouthpiece for the Military Industrial Intelligence Media complex. DeSantis is just going do whatever they say ... just like Trump.
2
The real solution to this conflict is that the US regains its sanity and backs off and apologizes and draws down our military and closes bases - slowly and carefully, while changing things at home to put Americans themselves back as the priority for our government and industry. Will that happen? Probably not.
2
This is odd, as the right-wing fascists are taking over everything this bozo is telling us it's the progressives that are the problem. This channel seems to be part of the problem.
2
@scaleyback217 Ah, I would liken the inventive for my argument, or viewpoint as a kind of diplomatic immunity, because otherwise the system falls apart from all the corruption, mischief and games that result from psychopathic humans who are the ones at the tops of our political hierarchies.
2
@psyskeptic9979 Primal Scream Therapy - Arthur Janov
2
@bramblebop1904 He nailed Ukraine 8 years before the war. Get lost skrewball
2
Meritocracy is merely who merits the favor of the plutocrats by kissing their asses the best. This whole discussion is way out of line - but I do enjoy hearing Peter Hitchens' opinions about some things - for instance Ukraine. Not so much here, he is a defender of the status quo.
2
Mearsheimer is the most courageous guy to stand up for what he knows about Russia and Ukraine - but his initial video about the problems of Ukraine being fomented by the West was years ago - long before the actual war. It's amazing.
2
NATO has already been re-purposed years ago ... that is what Afghanistan, Kosovo, Syria, etc were.
2
@James Warden Jr. Great idea ... and what do we do when China invades Taiwan genius?
1
I see what you mean, but how about allowing the US/NATO to arm, train and overthrow democratic governments in order to circle Russia is OK though? And once this situation has started - arming any Ukranian with a machine gun and allowing them to die and their country to be wreck - and that is just in Ukraine - the millions, tens or hundreds of millions of people who this war will economically hurt terribly for a very long time, after a long Covid lockdown that has also hurt a lot of people, with big inflation ... But, no, it's the principle of that matter, even though when you apply those principles to NATO and the US they don't cut in the way we would like? All I can see is the best solution is to end the violence ASAP, not for the US to try to convince them world again to make us the Policeman. Isn't there a better way.
1
It's hard to forgive these days because we all know it is almost impossible for people to change, so why forgive when they will go back to doing whatever it was that got them in trouble? There is ZERo social support in the bad western countries because the greedy, immoral, unChristian ( for Peter ) billionaires who run the country just want lab rats to experiment with. And then import so many dangerous immigrants that even the regular people do not want to pay taxes for social services becuase they don't want the terrorists and criminals to get social services.
1
On the Ukraine war, another TWO voices that have some out against it are Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who speaks eloquently and most informed on the subject, and he just made a podcast with of all people David Stockman, economist from the Reagan Administration who really nails it about how Ukraine was never a real country ... in that Ukraine is a country that is far, far more extremely divided than the US red-blue divide in that the Eastern half of the country is primarily Russian, and the Western half of the country is primarily Ukrainian - and you can see this reflected in every single poll or election. He also made the point about how the UN and the US/UK have partitioned other countries in such cases, but somehow are using Ukraine to leverage war against Russia ... which makes a totally perfectly valid point. Anyway, that podcast is very interesting to listen to.

@annatanneberger1 You sound like you are interested in understanding BS and propaganda. Check this out that covers it from both sides by a US professor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-RlNxjtcxA watch?v=9-RlNxjtcxA
1
@annatanneberger1 Honestly, if you do not think a disease that has killed a million Americans is a dreadful disease - I don't know what to say. Why the nasty comeback when I asked you a question?
1
@annatanneberger1 OK. What I see happen on YouTube lately is that cut-and-paste is dodgy. Also, in some cases you can edit a comment, and in others the edited comment looks like it took but it gets cancelled and deleted. They seem to be trying to make it difficult for people to communicate here, not easier. I think they just like it when all the comments are like airheads saying how great every video is.
1
@annatanneberger1 I don't need to know that. It's not a valid metric to judge by. It's like saying the war in Afghanistan was nothing because America only lost a few thousand soldiers.
1
@annatanneberger1 You edited a medical journal? - That proves nothing, but I doubt that very much. Maybe you might have proof-read, but I even doubt that. That give you no credibility anyway, there are doctors who supported Ivermectin and the President supported shining UV light up your butt and drinking bleach. It was a million people dead, and that was with vaccines, and social distancing, etc. The hospitals were so overloaded they could not accept patients and they died. There were so many dead people they have to bury people in mass graves. Maybe people had their own motives, but the most responsible people had the motives of saving lives and holding the system together. Honestly, you are sick person and I don't want to hear any more of your disgusting BS.
1
Carlson is an intelligent person underneath the layers of BS. His problem is that he used it to lie and mislead. He cares only for money and the people who pay him so well want lies and misinformation, tinged with a little intelligence and a dusting of some half-truths.
1
@annatanneberger1 Maybe most, certainly not every. You are the kind of person who lives by exaggeration because you cannot compute nuance. You're funny. You could call it courage if it actually cost him something. It's not courage, it's ratings and demographics, sadly.
1
@annatanneberger1 > However, being limited to one-line responses, you are not in a position to judge my depth of character or ability to understand nuance. I'd agree, and intended no such judgement. Funny as in views that are curious to me, that's all. I can see Tucker Carlson is a smart guy, and surprisingly I find him quite personable and thoughtful on these questions. I guess the time to say something about it might have been a long while back, but I don't recall every hearing him communicating this. Perhaps because it would not have gone over well with his far-right audience. The nuance comment was judgemental and to the extent that it closed off my ability to understand what the heck you see in Carlson I apologize. "The Spectator" is a great source of information and interviews and appeals across political divide. Peter Hitchens is a favorite of mine.
1
I hate these pointless aristocratic discussions about undefinably vague meaningless terms. Peter Hitchens has a great brain, and it seldom gets put to real positive use. The latest exception to that would be his discussions on Ukraine and Russia.
1
@@elks_in_town Why ask why? Do you ever get an answer to stupid questions like that? Do you like wasting time?
1
WTF is a Scotch Egg?
1
All these guys who can only express their ideas through constantly talking about and dismissing and insulting Liberals really just make me so bored. The biggest thing in their life is hating Liberals and thus hating and fighting against democracy.
1
@merlingeikie Do you waste all of your time like this, or are you set up to be fully automated like the other sock puppets?

Always fun to listen to English with an Asian accent.
