  9. I think this war could have been avoided. Ukraine and Russia were both complicit in starting the war - and the US was to blame as well. But whatever it was then, dropping Ukraine now, and especially treating this country as Trump did is the wrong way for the US to behave, and is a total embarassment and humilation to our country. I don't think "the people" gave Republicans this power - I think they took it by voter suppression schemes, cheating on the election end, and then also by media and social media as the second leg of the coup triad, and finally they either bribed or threatened enough Democrats to sit there and whine and complain, but ultimately to do nothing. Republicans have all their bases covered, and they would not be behaving this way if they thought there was any chance of them being overturned in an actual free and fair election in 2026 or 2028. The bottom line here I see is that Republicans have always advocated for a criminal society, or a society that accepts criminal behavior, and to the extent that we tip Republican, like after Ronald Reagan we have the whole media change to admiring the criminal violent man. It is almost impossible to break out of the violent society because the norms required for a higher level of society are easy to smash from the inside. Once it is lost it is much harder to reform, and possibly impossible for hundreds of years if history is any influence.

What people are irate about with the Democrats is that sure, after many years, decades, you are finally coming out popularly and doing something - but they have not apologized or said a word about what the problem was for all those years or proved that they can define and fix it. So, sure they can do something when they lives are on the lines, but how are they going to "guide the American project" in the future to balance all the different interests at different levels? That's where Dems need to go.

Democrats need to stop making this all about Trump - one or two zingers in a speech to remind people who they are opposing is fine - but Dems need to convey a vision because they've not done much for the American people in the last 20 maybe even 30 years, and people are steamed. Biden has done good, but he is just barely keeping up. Look at the wealth spike of the super-rich in the last decades and deflation of average worker's wages? That is the problem and Democrats keep saying they are capitalists - apparently thinking that capitalism means the rich and powerful can do anything and the poor are just going to get stomped on worse every year. Dems need to embrace FDR's 2nd Bill Of Right - and make promises that if we elect them they will get that done. Otherwise people are going to dump Dems for good and this country will become like Russia and China and we will lose.
