2:11 - "If every scientist said I'm not going to believe what anybody else says until I do it myself, scientists would be at least a century behind ... "
That's a ridiculously hyperbolic comment. A lot of science in the social sciences has been questioned and cannot be recreated. There is a lot of reason to question science. Scientists ... the human factor, the ego, the money, the fame, etc.
This video should be called "The Big Whine".
So, when Trump ( not a scientist ) says he will create a better health care system than Obama, it will be better, and cheaper, and cover everyone ... tentatively accept that ... excepting that we have to take action and vote, we cannot accept what people, even scientists say, especially on things that are political ... and thanks to Republicans - everything is political and weaponized these days. I'm being a little sarcastic, but
the point being that these are economic and political questions, and questions of power.
If I am a Koch Brother, I don't want anyone encroaching on my corporation telling me what I have to do ... which is curious that the Koch Brothers funded Muller by the way.
Also ... when there is a doubt, there must be validation of the data and process ... what this guy is claiming is that Muller somehow was in error to collect other famous scientists and look at the data when there is a dispute and review it ... that he should have accepted other scientists work without question.
Needless to say, I think this guy, Powell, is totally wrong about science.

Uh, I think this is just a cognitive thing.
The issue of the mentally ill, covering all mental illness is too broad and complicated.
So, many people just pivot and perceive the problem as, if someone does something, or looks dangerous they are mentally ill, by definition. Other people who are normal or at least don't stand out so much are ignored.
This is a little like racism, there is dangerous racism, like people bombing churches and the like, and there is just racial behavior, a race joke, or off-color remark or even an insult that may bother and hurt people's feelings but are not really racism in the way it was historically defined in America - slavery, KK, discrimination, segregation, etc.
The bottom line is that the people who have to pay for this all, the rich and the corporations do not want their money taken to do anything about it because it does not affect them, so nothing happens and the waters are muddied.

1:25 - WE could learn from the cast study Muller ... that he should have TRUSTED the other scientists
Wow, I think you really have it wrong. Today, the alimighty dollar rules, and most people, even scientists, and for good reason, do not trust a lot of what is presented to us as science.
And then we have to remember two other things. One is that before there was global warming there was a big thing about global cooling about a decade before. The other is that the ... I forget the acronym IPCC or something, but their report and some emails raised some suspicions with people that they were "cherry-picking" data because they left some whole data sets out, did not mention it in their report. They had reasons for doing this, but that is not what you are supposed to do in China.
So, the whole issue has become so politicized at the same time that people who don't know anything about the issue, and sometimes less about science all feel free to make whatever comments they like.
I think Muller did a great service here, and in terms of objectivity and integrity he has my provisional trust and vote for getting it right. The connection of the Earths temperature to the CO2 signal cannot be ignored.
The reason for this comment is that I think you got it wrong when you suggested that anyone should trust the scientists, or even trust in science. The history of science is full of failings of human beings. Like following the law, following the so-called rules of science are not something you can trust people with ... sadly.
Also, science doesn't work if people are going to choose to be offended or get emotional on these issues. You have your reasons for thinking what you are thinking, but science works on people being able to interpret or add something to other people's work and data. Getting offended is something you might as well do at the whole of humanity, don't just blame Muller.

@nedisawegoyogya
Thanks, you made my point for me. You also proved your ignorance on the GMO food issue ...
8 Although the causal link between Showa Denko’s LT and the epidemic has been questioned by some researchers (e.g., Shapiro, S., “Epidemiologic studies of the association of L-tryptophan with the eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome: a critique,” J Rheumatol Suppl [Oct. 1996]: 44-59), the link has been rmly established by published research conducted not only at the Center for Disease Control (CDC), but at the Mayo clinic and other respected institutions. e strength of the connection is attested by CDC scientists who have written: “ ese studies constitute overwhelming evidence that the cause of the EMS epidemic was ingestion of L-tryptophan produced by Showa Denko,” (emphasis added), e Lancet 343 (April 23, 1994): 1037.
