Forget about DC and Marvel. This gentleman was a true super hero!

Chuck Norris wants to be him when he grows up.

Awesome bio! Why hasn't a movie been made about The White Mouse? In her younger days, Meryl Streep could've played that role on the Silver Screen.
383
Not just a martyr, but also a helpless pawn, a mother who just wanted to take care of her daughter.
265
Bertha Benz: Mother Of The First Road Trip. And The First Joy Ride.
220
I'd like to see Disney try to make this story kid-friendly.
211
Ford did have an aircraft carrier named after him, so I suppose he wasn't that bad.
187
Suggestion: American author James Baldwin.
179
Rader's testimony is quite chilling. He sounds very much detached from what he did.
155
Funny, his statues look nothing like Kirk Douglas. đ

A true comedy legend. There's one film that features three generations of stand up comedy. Harlem Nights, starring Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. One can only imagine the jokes and stories those three swapped in between takes. Two comedians, Pryor and Murphy got to work with their childhood heroes.

H.G. Wells was definitely a man before his time. A true visionary. His body of work is still relevant today. Dozens of films based on his work can still be made.

My Mom faced racism when she decided to enroll in the nursing program at San Diego State College (now University) in the early 1970's. Once she was admitted, she faced racism from professors who failed her because of her race. Fast forward six years later, and Mom helped bring public health to our side of town, Southeast San Diego. She worked along side of the leading Black phyiscians in San Diego. More years later Mom taught nusrsing classes in various facilities in San Diego county. She also was a nurse for Head Start Childcare. Mom did all of this while raising four children on her own, with very little financial help from our fathers ( there were two of them). My Mom is my hero!

You handled the subject well, and respectfully.

True spy stories can be way more intriguing than anything made by Hollywood. I liked the Snafu and Spy vs Spy inserts.
62
My Mom was an RN. In the 1970's she helped to break down racial and gender barriers in the nursing program at San Diego State University. Mom also was a pioneer of public health in Southeast San Diego, which is still a predominantly minority part of San Diego, California. Like Ms. Nightingale Mom was a very humble woman. As far as I know, SDSU has never acknowledged my Mom's struggle to get into its nursing program.

Sometimes, it takes a Brit to teach American history.
47
I had no idea that Tom Thumb was his cousin.

Sidney Poitier. A true legend. A trailblazer. Opener of doors of opportunities for those who came after him. An inspiration for many generations of young hopeful actors and future directors. Portier, along with Ozzie Davis, Ruby Dee and Harry Belafonte, made Hollywood a better, more equitable place for everyone in the film and television industries.đŊī¸đŦđđē

Will this case be a future CasCrim episode?đĩī¸ Stories about murderous nurses hold a special fascination for me because my Mom was a nurse for over thirty years. Mom was caring, compassionate and kind when she performed her nursing duties. Poor patient care was her pet peeve.đ§ââī¸

Something I didn't learn about in my history class.
40
I liked the format, showing two perspectives of an historical event. Lincoln and Booth would be very interesting.
39
Along the lines of journalism, may I please suggest a video about television newsman Walter Cronkite, aka "Uncle Walter". During his time on the air he was known as "the most trusted man in America."
36
Your reaction to Ada Lovelace being Byron's daughter was, well, adorable! In the film The Bride Of Frankenstein, which starts with that stormy night of telling ghost stories, one of the characters is named after Byron's physician. Dr. Polidori coaxes Victor Frankenstein into creating a mate for his creation. Your writers are top notch!
33
J.Edgar was also obsessed with Robert F. Kennedy. The film Blood Feud depicts that obsession in great detail.
32
Simon: My hair's not coming back. His beard: Am I a joke to you, mate?
30
I've learned more about Santa Anna from this video than I ever did in my history classes in junior and high school.
29
Great video. Kudos for showing a photo of the "correct" James Bond.
29
Oh, that Pringle reference! Your writers are brilliant. That deserves a BAH-DAH-BOOM-BOOM-TISSSSSSSSS!!!
25
The Spirit Of St. Louis would make an interesting Megaprojects! I live in San Diego, where it was built. The plane itself is displayed in the Air And Space Museum here in Balboa Park.
23
I actually suggested this after I watch Simon's video about The Bounty last week. My comment: "William Bligh definitely deserves the Biographics treatment!" Dang his Blazement elves are fast!
22
A little history of my hometown.
21
Here in America we have Red Baron Pizza.đđŠī¸ Also, in the 1960's a band called The Royal Guardsmen recorded three hit songs about Snoopy's adventures with The Red Baron.
20
It's fitting that Alexander Hamilton comes up in a video about banking.
19
Epic moustache meets epic beard. đ§đ§đ§đ§đ§đ§đ§đ§đ§
18
Freddie Mercury. The best voice in Rock. The best Rock showman. He lived his life his own way, on his own terms.
17
Jack Johnson was definitely a trailblazer. đĨđĨđ
17
Kudos for honoring those seven heroes together. I was a sailor in Winter Harbor, Maine watching the Challenger launch on TV. I was shocked to see what unfolded after the first explosion of the craft.
16
Biographics. A history class you get to take without having to actually enroll in college ( or, as the Brits say, university).
15
I remember this story from the Casual Criminalist. I think it's cool when you take a subject from one of your channels and put it on another channel, put a brand new spin on it, demonstrating just how clever and talented your Blazement writers are.
14
Years ago I heard that the TV show The Fugitive was indeed based on the Sam Shepard criminal case.
14
No worries Simon. I have a feeling that DC wouldn't mind. DC admired Stan Lee. Marvel keeps DC on their toes. MCU consistently out performs DC at the box office.
13
How can Disney, Inc. sleep at night, knowing they helped to perpetuate a big lie?
13
Ryan White ended up being a hero. His funeral was attended by Princess Diana and Sir Elton John.
13
Thank you Simon & Co.! Awhile back I suggested Biographics videos about African American explorers. Biographics videos about other explorers of color would be interesting. Also, female explorers. đ¤đ¤đ¤đ¤
12
It nice to know that Simon and his team of legends do pay attention to the suggestions of their viewers. đ
12
How about a bio on Motown Records founder Berry Gorgy? Also bios on Paul, George and Ringo, and the man who took a chance on them, Brian Epstein?
12
As I stated watching this, somehow it crossed my mind that "Where The Buffalo Roam" was about Thompson. Uncle Duke is one of my favorite "Doonsebury" characters.
12
Well done. Interesting perspectives without rehashing well known fact about Hitler.
11
Awesome video. Please, more bios like this one.
