Well that's hopeful, thank you. The thought that the Torys might be out of our hair for a generation has really cheered me up.

8:27 which is not an antisemitic trope! If nothing else because Israel is a country not a religion, an ethnicity or (to accurately fit the definition) a language.
24
The only thing I find shocking is that there are people in this country who don't understand every single word of this at a fundamental level.
21
8:47 Luke Akehurst, NEC member parachuted 250 miles, has article after article against him – try one in The National (respected Scottish newspaper) titled "Luke Akehurst: Labour pick 'extremist' Israel lobbyist for safe seat"...
18
That "oil find in Israel" is just off the coast of Gaza, Israel has no legal claim to it though they're extracting the gas.
16
I believe he has the right to sack or appoint Ministers of his choosing? That's an avenue which could get very interesting very quickly, the Press spend years manoeuvering their choices into place.
16
12:44 does he have to stop summoning ministers? Why? I certainly hope he forces them to explain themselves though I would prefer it done in public.
15
4:17 they didn't do ANY impact assessment, that's a big part of the problem! If they had done impact assessments they would have discovered that the existing system was the cheapest option, cheaper even than withdrawing it completely because of the knock-on expenses in the NHS etc. The proposed means testing is probably the MOST expensive option & will swallow any 'savings' many times over even before the NHS bill comes through. 😮
13
"govern"?? They're appointed to represent us!
11
5:00 the Labour Party is & has been since its foundation a left-wing party, it is not Starmer's place to drag the Party to the right of Thatcher!
11
because Israel says it is & we cannot contradict Israel ever about anything!

I'm not convinced that selective editing without commentary is particularly useful. PMQs this week, as ever, was a disgrace but your role as journalists is to provide commentary debunking the lies, misrepresentations, propaganda & disinformation and, most importantly, providing corrections. Democracy is absolutely reliant on journalism, without it Democracy falls because the electorate cannot make rational choices at the Polls & cannot make reasoned representations to their representatives.

🤣😂

Those pigs look a bit young...
6
Millions will be voting Green this time, both Labour & Tory voters.
6
both need coverage
5
I object to 'donations' setting the direction of parties! Especially as they're much more difficult to find on the Electoral Commission website than personal ones on Parliament's website.
5
I'll be voting Green & so will millions of others
5
I'm shocked but not surprised
5
It's a foregone conclusion the Torys are out so it no longer matters what Sunak says but the propaganda would have us believe Starmer will be Prime Minister for the next 5 or 10 years, it very much matters what he says. I'm personally hoping for Carla Denyer as the next PM & the comments I'm reading suggest it's possible.
5
@jimboakimbo54 he also compares with Johnson on the lying 😢
4
@stevedavidson666 forecast 4,000 pensioners dead. Presumably your Gran is already dead?
4
That's why so many millions will be voting Green.
4
@Dingbat-tb5wz step outside your bubble, there's a whole world out here
4
@bobblue_west University College London (UCL) Constitution Unit seems to share my opinion. Do you want to carry on showing yourself up by being abusive whilst having no foundation to your argument?
4
@albertbrammer9263 Mandelson was also Blair's mafia, I was very surprised when they dragged him back out of the swamp.
4
11:06 I forget the detail & it's probably difficult to look up but Royal Assent has been refused at least once since the Bill of Rights in 1688. [edit] "The last bill that was refused assent by the Sovereign was the Scottish Militia Bill during Queen Anne's reign in 1708" - Wikipedia - Royal assent. I get a strong impression Victoria could be pretty forthright too.

@Eltener123 that remaining candidate being, in his day job, the CEO of a private healthcare company
3
How's his fishing fleet doing now?

6:10 you could go back to the source where she's trying to clarify the terminology (in the sort of cack-handed way you would expect in a "1st draft") between "racism" & other forms of "prejudice". Copied verbatim from the Observer Letters page: Tomiwa Owolade claims that Irish, Jewish and Traveller people all suffer from “racism” (“Racism in Britain is not a black and white issue. It’s far more complicated”, Comment). They undoubtedly experience prejudice. This is similar to racism and the two words are often used as if they are interchangeable. It is true that many types of white people with points of difference, such as redheads, can experience this prejudice. But they are not all their lives subject to racism. In pre-civil rights America, Irish people, Jewish people and Travellers were not required to sit at the back of the bus. In apartheid South Africa, these groups were allowed to vote. And at the height of slavery, there were no white-seeming people manacled on the slave ships. Diane Abbott

@fbenbow2197 for about a century now Labour have been called in to clear up Tory messes & they've succeeded every time, I don't see why this time would be different?
3
Jailed more like!
3
@jameshall6061 🤣😂 16 million voted for Brexit 50 million didn't, how's that for "democracy"? "Bellend"
3
let's hope it's too late for this one.
3
@piccalillipit9211 1745? buildings of that sort of age are all built the same (in each area) apart from houses had chimneys, the stone-built ones all work on thermal inertia, you light the fire about this time of year & don't let it go out till late May or June. They're usually toasty if you can keep the draughts out but if you let them get cold they'll stay cold till late summer. Lime plaster is likely all that will stay on the walls but it 'breathes' better than modern plaster. If she does replace it mixing in hair & bristle makes it less prone to cracking but a plasterer that knows lime will know that.
3
@verzeda now imagine applying it...
3
@gracchi132 WOW, you can count all the way up to three when counting parties! Did you bother looking at your voting slip? There were more than 3 parties on there!
3
4:35 there is already "State funding of political parties", it's called Short Money! 😮
3
that part of our Constitution is very much written, it's the Bill of Rights 1688, a document the Supreme Court has visited recently in dealing with our Government, notably over the "illegal prorogation".
2
Charles has been speaking directly to the scientists & watching the science evolve for more than 5 decades so I would assume he's pretty authoritative. He has powers to advise & to warn, I expect this would best be done in public forums so that the electorate can evaluate the Government's performance. This is nominally a democracy after all.
2
The UK economy has shrunk more than a 5th these 13 years but it's still £trillions, there's plenty of money. What's needed is to drag the money back from the Cayman Islands, or at the very least stop yet more being leeched off.
2
@joepaluka9031 private medicine may work if you can afford it, fully a quarter of the UK population is now in poverty.
2
@richardmurphy4520 we had a republic, it survived 11 years before they were forced by their incompetence to bring a King back.
2
@rtozier2011 look at the numbers, Corbyn very nearly got the top job & if Israel hadn't been working so hard against him he would have got it easily.
2
Also missing from this was the power of lobbies & of money. Keir Starmer is very obviously standing on the Israel lobby, the current PM hasn't yet shown his hand but is probably standing on hedgefunds, the previous PM was standing on Tufton Street think-tanks & the one before standing on piles of money from various sources.
2
Farage is downhill faster! 😂 He made his money through Crispin Odey's hedgefund when his Brexit tanked Sterling & he'll do it again & again & again! If you want improvements in your conditions vote Green.
2
36:05 Lord Bird (founder of The Big Issue) is, I think, the only member of either House who has had direct personal experience of the circumstances discussed here.
2
Not as many as operate from this country & none from abroad.
2
@jackkruese4258 this ability to appoint & dismiss Ministers is Royal Prerogative which comes from the Bill of Rights which was the culmination of the English Civil Wars & is one of the very few written parts of our Constitution & probably the most sensitive because of its relationship with the Civil Wars. I am well aware that the current crop of Torys & the right-wing Press are arrogant & ignorant enough to attempt to overrule the Constitution but would the Courts allow this?
2
Excellent article except that Chakrabortty totally fails to mention that change IS on offer – on offer from the Green Party! #VoteWisely, #VoteGreen! They don't need to be in Government, they just need to be polling strong enough they can kick up a stink whenever Gov't gets it wrong! #VoteWisely, #VoteGreen!
