  10. This reminds me of the 2001/2 Foot & Mouth outbreak. The consensus is that it was caused by imports of (then-illegally) unchecked meat for the catering industry, waste from which was fed to pigs & it spread from there to sheep & cattle. Roads & Public Paths were closed across the country, there was a total ban on moving livestock, there were foot washes at field gates & wheel disinfectant pads across roads. Millions of animals were burned on huge pyres. I don't remember what else but it was a mess for 11 months & Blair's Government was more competent than the current shower.

  19. in 1948 & probably till 1979 there was no "top management", Matron (or Senior Male Nurse) was the whole of the management! And Matron had to work her way up through the ranks (on her first day she was scrubbing floors & emptying bedpans). Hospitals existed solely for the benefit of patients!

  22.  @Cornodebassetto  I agree @TruthGrenade needs to provide sources for his current statements but in 2014 RUSI, Chatham House & many of the other intelligent sources thought it was quite likely Putin wouldn't stop with Crimea. Indeed, he seems to have found the scheme likely enough to continue that he built one of the longest bridges in Europe across the straits (Azov Strait?). What he has done is wind up all the #RightWingNutjobs to create a civil war in the Donbas & backed them up with weapons but that scheme seems to have stalled in that one region which, presumably, is why he's sent the tanks in now (though he forgot to also send in fuel for them).

Just so you know, the phrase "ever closer union" is in the preamble to the Treaty of Rome & Article 2 of the Treaty also promoted the ‘spirit’ of closer union in its description of the aims of the Community, ending with “closer relations between the States belonging to it”. The phrase "ever closer union" is also in all the treaties since including Mrs Thatcher's project, the Maastrict & Lisbon Treaties which established the EU

  31. no, the Constitution is almost adequate, it just needs a mechanism to get rid of a dangerous Government automatically. Government is selected from within Parliament & Parliament is supreme but they have chosen not to exert their power.

There is a tunnel under Whitehall from the Houses of Parliament with side branches to every building, including Downing Street & New Scotland Yard, it was built for the Blitz but is still in regular use today. Just as an aside, Blair put a back gate into the garden of Downing Street, it goes through to Rupert Murdoch's flat.

  45.  @kawallabair3216  you're making an unreasonable expectation, Labour are 2 years away from government & can't predict how much of a mess the Torys are going to leave so can't form a definite plan & it would be daft if they laid it out now if they did because the Torys would just spend their time laying mines in it's path. Labour almost certainly have 90% of a plan in case an election does get called with the last details evolving day by day.
