  14. What is especially pathetic is, this story said the reason for the shutdowns was Fukishima. Japan sits on several fault lines, so is seismically unstable. Germany does not. The last time an earthquake was close to Germany, was in the 14th century, in Switzerland. I grew up on the San Andreas fault, and the nearby Diablo Canyon nuclear powerplant never suffered from seismic damage, even though it was built in the 1970s.

Because the primary cases were gay men, and the main spreader event was a European fetish fair, only gay men are being routinely tested, and straight people, with the symptoms of the disease, are being ignored. Without testing everyone, with a weird rash or blisters (vesicles) we won't know how widely this disease has spread. Public health officials need to widen their testing field. A NYC infectious disease physician has been testing anyone with monkeypox symptoms, and he has found it in straight people, and even two children. Let's not make the mistakes we made before, and assume only certain people can get this. Anyone who comes into contact with infectious vesicles, or fluid from infectious vesicles, or an object contaminated with fluid from infectious vesicles, can be infected. This is not an STD and anyone can be infected !

My daughter returned from Japan, through Canada, also with a high fever and vomiting. The Canadian healthcare staff, at the airport, gave her antibiotics and a saline infusion to rehydrate her, and rescheduled her flight back to Portland, for when she was feeling well, and never asked a dime. And Canada is not known for human rights abuses, like Qatar is.

  21. You don't use wax to dye cloth. The wax is a resist, to prevent areas from being dyed. You put your wax mask, on the area you want to remain white, and dye. Then you mask more areas. And through several iterations, you get multicolored cloth, without printing. As to being a dying art, hardly, my mom did batik, as have I and my daughters.

  24. While true that vaccinated individuals can possibly pass Covid on, they do so at a far lesser scale than unvaccinated individuals. They may not be bullet proof, but it is like they are wearing a kevlar vest. Vaccinated people are less likely to become infected, if infected they transmit less virus for a much shorter time. Don't forget 80% of the virus is transmitted by only 20% of infected, and those super-spreaders are always unvaccinated.

What angers me is, the way my city was destroyed, the downtown totally wrecked, over the death of a criminal, high on fentanyl, resisting arrest for another crime, in a city over two thousand miles away from mine. So many good people had their stores and homes completely wrecked over something that happened far away.

In 2020, in the US, 13,663 people were killed with guns, 1,739 from knives or other cutting instruments, and 393 from blunt objects. That is why humans must take in oxygen, while we exhale carbon dioxide. When carbon dioxide and oxygen are in balance, the ecosystem works well, but when there is an excess of carbon dioxide, as there is now, the temperature of the earth rises, causing disruptions of weather patterns, overly energetic storms, drought in some areas and excess rain in others.
