Them terror birbs were pretty damn fierce, they had a hatchet for a face. That's hardcore.
9
@AifDaimon Yup, you heard that right. And there's also a modern fish named after Greedo (Peckoltia greedoi), a prehistoric mammal named after Padmé (Xenokeryx amidalae), and a pterosaur named after Aerodactyl from Pokémon (Aerodactylus).
8
@claycountybrian5645 Oh no. That guy is gaining the giraffe's trust only to then stab its face.
8
Those were all nothing to the sky bison and winged lemur.
8
Not really, most have fantastic names that suit them. The ones I can think of with unfair names are Oviraptor here and Basilosaurus, which was a whale and not a reptile.
8
Deinocheirus: "I'm the weirdest dino ever!" Spinosaurus: "Hold my big fat newt tail."
8
Yeah, same. I have that famous dinosaur book with the Luis Rey artwork, and in it Deinocherus is basically censored and they only show its claws and feet. At least they correctly classed it as an Ornithomimid. Also, many, many more dinosaur books are now obsolete for another different reason. RIP Troodon. F*ck Stenonychosaurus.
7
Not funny.
7
They're huge and can rip you apart in seconds. Nobody wanted to take the chance.
6
Reptiles hibernate when it's cold. Besides, the entire world wasn't covered in snow and ice during the "ice age".
6
@eliburry-schnepp6012 Same, I hear savannah and I can only picture a scene in modern Kenya.
6
So if we have an anaconda live for many years in a sauna, will it become a Titanoboa? XD
6
Penguins aren't just related to dinosaurs, they ARE dinosaurs.
6
I'd say back then it was worse, you would have to watch out all the time for danger, such as getting pounced on by a Thylacoleo, trampled by a herd of Diprotodon, kicked by a Procoptodon, devoured by a Megalania or getting chased by a demon duck of doom...
5
Mycel Nah I think that documentary was from Discovery.
5
We all make mistakes, we're only human. ;)
5
Yup. Edmonton, Canada.
5
@voxbox697 A sea bear, you mean like the ones that DON'T EXIST!!!
5
@jacobhoover1654 Everything after Jaws 2 was a joke. 🤣
5
Dinosaurs are related to birds and crocodiles, not lizards.
5
Who else heard of these animals for the first time thanks to Walking with Beasts?
5
How is that clickbait? It promises exactly what the video contains.
4
The ones in the Ice Age movies were Macrauchenia, those were WAY smaller than Paraceratherium.
4
That's not a Smilodon, it's a Thylacosmilus. And while Smilodon is a cat, Thylacosmilus is related to marsupials, which is why it appears in this video.
4
@steavestone9981 A giant whale on land is a dead whale.
4
Like moray eels and giant groupers.
4
Wouldn't a thagomizer be a downgrade? Thagomizers just punctured the skin and theropods could heal from these injuries, while clubs shattered bone and the results were usually fatal.
3
I'm getting Puss in Boots vibes...
3
Why is this so funny!? XD
3
The Shring-a-ding? XD
3
That would be cool but the effects on the ecosystem would be horrendous. 🤣🤣🤣
3
1:17 I'm not sure if those guys killed the rhino, or if the rhino is sleeping and it's about to be killed in its sleep. Either way, RIP.
3
@MudnuK Anurognathids were apparently adorable. Most paleoart I see of them shows them as cute, fluffy fellows with big, owl-like eyes, a far cry from their scaly, hideous Primeval versions.
3
@vantagepoint9270 Well things just got a little chillier...
3
@Paper_Frogg Sup. :)
3
@unclekanethetiberiummain1994 Or basking sharks. XD
3
Uh, wild dogs are more basal than wolves and they're not that closely related to wolves and dogs. Wolves and domestic dogs: Genus Canis Wild dogs: Genus Lycaon
3
JohnnyGotHisGun Those were Struthiomimus.
3
@cyanide2813 Madagascar hissing cockroaches and giant burrowing cockroaches are very cool, they don't deserve a horrid fate.
3
Why not chimaerants?
3
After the disaster that was Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, Pachyrhinosaurus isn't talked about much anymore... JK, they just forgot. XD
3
That sounds like it could be a Pokémon name.
3
Hmm, there were cave hyenas in Europe alongside cavemen and the wolves that gave rise to dogs. What would life be like if early man tamed hyenas instead?
3
Oh, you mean the ones that devoured that poor freshly-hatched Gastornis chick in Walking with Beasts? Brrr.
3
Well, when it comes to personal opinions, it's fine if you think Stegos are better. However when it comes to the facts, Ankylos are technically better because they evolved better armor and they survived until the end of the Cretaceous while Stegos went extinct way before that.
2
@kari7403 Same here, I understand that some people are scared of snakes even though I don't see what's scary about them. Though to be fair, I'm not scared of any animal, I like looking at spiders and stuff.
2
The origin story of Piranha Plant.
2
Ah yes, the episode where the "polar Allosaur" decapitates a Leaellynasaura onscreen and swallows the head whole. Yay.
2
Maybe they were too big?
2
It looks like a swimming tongue! 😂
