There are more men in death row, and yes, part of it does have to do with the fact that men generally commit worse crimes, but also because no one thinks women are a threat (even if they commit the same crime). It's a patriarchal thing where women are seen as more submissive, docile and overall weaker than men. Basically the same logic that had women banned from fighting in the military.
