Rigged elections.
3
@Justme-fz1ng Mongolia, Ethiopia, Benin, Madagascar, Cambodia, Sweden (in the 1970's), any Eastern European country, India, China.
2
@manovrsb Exactly.
2
Burkina Faso had nowhere to go but up.
2
@sweynforkbeard8857 And also, fascism is from the same family tree as communism which is socialism.
2
Or Ethiopia's own Red Terror under communist Mengistu Haile Mariam.
2
@UmQasaann It didn't fail Botswana or Rwanda.
2
Especially after independence.
2
@rtr0_insn323 And Sweden went bankrupt from socialism once.
2
LOL. So you're saying that Africans can't think for themselves and recognize BS from their leaders?
2
@albert einstien Literally nothing as taking land away from the White farmers (which is understandable) and giving it to political friends and those who were in no position to farm (standard socialist/communist fare)?
2
But for every Thomas Sankara, there was Siad Barre and Mengistu Haile Mariam.
2
@chroma._.5986 <just for adopting a different ideology than capitalism.> With a 104-plus year record of failure even in counties that didn't get railed by US special forces such as Mongolia, Somalia (supported the very same US special forces), Tanzania, Yugoslavia, India, Benin, Ethiopia, etc.
2
@Alex-ek5mp The DPRK is propped up by China as a buffer between China and US-friendly South Korea.
2
LOL. Delusional much? Are you trying to say that Libyans can't think for themselves and recognize BS especially from their own leadership?
2
@comrademax5302 And then collapsed when the economy crumbled?
2
By declaring independence from Britain?
2
Capitalism works in spite of corruption. Socialism/communism just doesn't work even under the best of circumstances.
2
Indeed.
2
Not in Benin, Ethiopia, Tanzania or Madagascar. The CIA largely left them alone and yet socialism still failed them.
2
Exactly. And the productive and innovative = the bourgeoisie that Marx called for the death of in order for socialism to established with the bottom-feeders otherwise known as the working class proletariat in charge.
2
@hoxhacat8195 And Chinese backed.
2
But that's negated by Ethiopia under Mengistu, Benin under Kerekou, Somalia under Barre, Angola under Dos Santos, Madagascar under Ratsiraka, Zimbabwe under Mugabe, etc.
2
@thebaker3240 They voted for their own subjugation by economic dependence on the Democratic Party.
2
Socialism failed in Africa, because all it did was make it easy for opportunistic power-mongers and delusional idealists to loot the wealth and starve the population with impunity.
2
Azhag Dark Don't forget mismanagement and corruption by African leaders even the ones who are not puppets of said colonial powers.
2
Economic slavery is better than physical slavery? Interesting.
2
@dellahful Rich in everything except brains.
2
It was short-lived. And had Sankara lived any longer, his socialism would have eventually and inevitably ended up like the rest of Africa.
2
None of those countries are socialist. And Sweden practiced socialism once only to get bankrupted by it in the 70's.
2
@skydivemag8718 And where's the money going to come from to pay for all that? Especially if the economy struggles?
2
@evano5635 The West had nothing to do with why Somalia, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Benin or Tanzania's socialism failed. Seychelle's socialism succeeded in spite of the West meddling. And yet abandoned it as soon as the 90's rolled in.
2
@zhcultivator That would make Botswana the Singapore of Africa.
2
And you forgot to mention the sanctions during the last days of Rhodesia and the Ian Smith regime.
2
Bolaji Windapo No.
2
Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania and Benin imploded on their own. No imperialists or neo-colonialists needed.
2
@tylergaye5457 Plenty of natural resources, but not enough economic savvy or know-how.
2
But in the end, only Chile prospered and became one of the wealthiest countries in South America.
2
He also funded and supported Idi Amin and destabilization efforts in Chad and Sierra Leone.
2
Or betting the wrong horse in the Cold War.
2
<Left alone without capitalists sabotage and economic warfafe, socialism would succeeded.> Like Ethiopia or Eastern Europe? Socialism would have failed anyway as it would stagnate and crumble while free-market capitalism would have still thrived as usual via the black market.
2
@usernamewastaken4829 LOL. How so? Africa has been socialist for most of its post-independence existence and is responsible for most of its current problems.
2
@billbandoh5818 China's.
2
LOL
2
1) LOL. 2) Fascism is from the same family tree as communism which is socialism.
2
Socialism rewards government greed and corruption.
2
@evano5635 By other billionaires headed by Winnie The Pooh.
2
Pretty much.
2
@yahyahasan2004 <cuz he was a good leader and loving for his people> Not to the peasants who had the audacity to buy and own land with the money they earned.
2
@yahyahasan2004 The land the government stole from the peasants wasn't where most workers work, though. And sure it's a good thing until it's yours that's being taken.
