@John Champion Well actually, Russia aren't winners anymore. What's more, they've lost their status as second most powerful military since the start of this war

I was under the impression that the Zaporizhzhia power station reactors were all powered down and not producing any electricity.

Think he pointed out at the end - it was the USSR that supported the ANC. So both Ukraine and Russia supported them. Siding against Ukraine is therefore treachery. At the very least South Africa should stay neutral. But they should also remember what it is like to be repressed by a stronger force. Russia is attempting to suppress Ukraine, just as white South Africans suppressed Indian, Mixed and Black South Africans during the apartheid era.

I hear Pootin won't be celebrating on the 9th May either. He's too "busy" and will be watching from his bunker. What a coward!!
16
@evolassunglasses4673 I agree. Ukraine needs to negotiate for Russia to leave all five oblasts it illegally partly occupies. That's only fair. But Russia doesn't want to negotiate a fair outcome. Russia is being disingenuous in its "negotiations".
16
Modi said the same thing "no nukes".
14
The Russians have submarines that do mine laying. I assume at least some of the 6-7 Russian submarines trapped in the Black Sea region are capable of this task. Some country needs to donate some submarine killers to Ukraine.
11
@krasav The end of the beginning of Russia. Nah, just the end of Russia.
10
Stop interrupting her. You ask her a question, let her fully answer it.
10
I'm sorry but I can't watch any more of this interview. If your presenter just accepts this woman's lies without challenge then Times Radio's credibility is compromised.

@sylvianorah1367 Yes it matters. It's a major morale booster for Ukraine and will significantly reduce the already low morale of the invaders. 700 sq km might be won back easily, but 3000-4000 sq km is likely you're result in a permanent gain. And if only they had the logistics to keep this rout going it could significantly reduce the length of this war (which, just two weeks ago, was looking like it might drag on for years).
9
@richardtargett4128 Not even Serbia recognises the annexations.
9
I doubt Ukraine has a legal right, but it sure has a moral right. I would think that the "guarantors" have an obligation to replace the arms given away in the 1994 memo.
8
I disagree. The interviewee was saying "everytime the Russians open their mouths they are lying" and I think he was chuckling at that remark.
8
@FurtiveConsultingSolutions So whose army do you think has been fighting alongside Ukrainian forces then?
7
@themanwiththegoldengun1998 russian state media said Kyiv in three days. Why do you ask?
7
I note the "nutty" in your name - and it shows in your comment.
7
@aviira Ukraine is not an expansionist nation. It will be sufficient to wave goodbye to the last retreating Russians and then blow the bridge.
7
@stevenman013 Just about everything she says is a lie.
7
Indeed. If they can get to Tokmak they cut off the only east-west railway, and all east-west roads except the M14 (which runs immediately south of Melitopol) - effectively cutting Russia's land bridge.
6
I have to agree. He just parrotted on the old debunked propaganda.
6
No that was an example of fake news. You had to watch through to the end (like it said in the heading).
6
@douglastaggart9360 Stop trolling Douglas, or is it Ivan Taggart.
6
@douglastaggart9360 It's not self determination in Donbas when Russia stirs up trouble then arms dissidents, then causes more mayhem by attacking both sides to further disruption (2014). It's not self determination when Russia shells and bombs Russian speaking civilians resulting in the death of over 80,000 in Mariupol alone. Don't talk BS man.
6
@ĐoànĐạiDương-f1n I saw that video too.
6
@Withnail1969 Why would a residential building be a valid military target? Don't try to follow Russian logic - it's not logical. Most likely Russia thought it was a likely hideout for Ukrainian military equipment (as that's what they claimed it was). Maybe it was, but it's seeming less and less likely. And what would the Guardian know?
6
@raphaell4808 Why wait 126 years? Hawaii was part of the USA in 1945 when the United Nations Charter was signed - in which all signatories agreed to existing boundaries worldwide. The world has moved on from the days of land acquisition by conquest (with the exception of ruzzia). ruzzia signed the United Nations Charter. If ruzzia no longer wants to comply with it's commitments it is free to vacate it's seat on the UNSC and hand it over to another more responsible former member state of the USSR. ruZZia is illegally occupying Crimea today.
6
@georgeorwell3501 Preferably for ALL of his crimes.
5
@hermanwooster8944 Man you've got a distorted view of what was going on. What a bitter and jaundiced eye you use to look at events.
5
Thank you for calling him on his bias.
5
@julwiezdeghorz5089 What Kiev atrocities in Donbas? You mean the ones Russians committed in Donbas? Or maybe you have conveniently forgotten the atrocities that Russia has committed in the Donbas in 2022/23 that dwarf anything that happened there in the previous 8 years.
5
Talinthis - that is exactly why he must be stopped now, even at the risk of nuclear war.
5
I think it is totally irresponsible to give Ukraine Storm Shadow missiles. I believe Britain should insist that Ukraine sends any missiles with a range of over 100km to a neutral country immediately. Immediately after Russia does the same. Slava Ukraini.
5
@GeorgesBindschedler Ahh, but at least Ukraine is fighting internal corruption. It will come out of this more determined to reduce or eliminate corruption so that it can join the EU. Russia, on the other hand, has so embraced corruption that it has lost its status as 2nd most powerful military in the world.
5
Is it now? That's interesting. Is that what you would have said about London during the Blitz? We know how that turned out.
5
@andrew6978 The canal was reopened by Russia last year.
5
@coco-wd2kg They belonged to Ukraine from 1991. How long do you think it would have taken Ukraine to establish their own codes?
4
Free Assange.
4
@Withnail1969 According to the video, they do.
4
@ommsterlitz1805 So how many do you think is worth it? 10 Polish farmers? 200 Polish farmers? 10,000 Polish citizens? 500,000 Europeans? 10 million Europeans? It seems you'll gladly hand over 44 million Ukrainians.
3
From what I heard it looks like it was S300 missiles. I don't know their range, but it's almost certain they weren't launched from the Black or Caspian Seas. It's looking like it might have been two missiles launched from Ukraine as part of Ukraine's air defence, that missed their target. If that is the case then it's "friendly fire" and we'll have to pull our heads in. Mind you, Ukraine wouldn't have needed to launch them if there weren't Russian missiles flying towards Ukrainian targets, so Russia still bears some responsibility. And that's of little consolation to the families of the dead Polish farmers.
3
@winstonvanderbuilt2054 Nah, ruSSia has little left - the only "Real escalation" left is the thing Medvedev lamely threatens at least once a week.
3
@ehisgeorge414 When someone blew up the Nordstream pipelines (you don't know who did it) I was sitting thinking thank goodness someone has put an end to Russian blackmail, and German hand wringing. The destruction of those redundant pipelines was a great move. I want to shake the hands of the guys who did that.
3
@jakubklis6797 I agree, it could be extremely useful in the future once the fascist government in the Kremlin is gone. As you say, Ukraine will have to destroy it, but it would be sufficient to take out a few spans and leave the rest in place until such time as the Russians have come to their senses.
3
@boink800 That certainly seems to be the case in this current conflict.
3
@Memovox It's true. There are various Russian sources of "Kyiv in three days" one even says two days. Don't be a lazy so-and-so, do your own research.
3
@douglastaggart9360 Yeah you and at least one other. I like how you say "in fact" for something we know is not a fact.
3
Very enlightening. Thank-you.
3
The sound distracts too much.
3
@johnceena7322 That's not western hypocrisy. That's fair comment. You need to get that chip off your shoulder. What is wrong with wanting to remove energy dependency from a country that weaponises that energy?
