@synchronium24 [insert Al Gore sigh here] Saagar Enjeti is absolutely not economically left. When has he ever supported raising taxes for the rich, increasing Social Security, enacting Medicare for All, raising the minimum wage, free college tuition, student and medical debt forgiveness, or anything to actual help the poor and working people? And don't give me UBI, because there is a left version, and there is a right version. The way you can tell the difference is what they do to the existing social safety net. And don't give me that he rails against the "corporate elite." So does Rand Paul, but there's no teeth behind it.

@matt-lederman Indeed, these were thorny issues, but she seems to be glossing over them completely. Considering how many times the United States supported fascists in coups against socialist or Marxist governments, which then killed thousands of their own citizens, this is hardly an example of saving lives or employing some scientists.
8
If you spend most of your time complaining about someone who makes a little bit less than you do instead of someone who gets more in a day than you do in a year, you're doing it wrong.
8
And she kept lying about what Sam said. Almost as if she was acting in... bad faith.
8
@cwx8 Children under 12 can't take it. And the longer people ignore the fact that we live in a society, the more chances this thing has to mutate to a form that vaccines aren't nearly as effective in preventing.
8
@dariondonte8386 Indeed. If he were a right wing troll trying to sabotage the left, would he behave any differently?
8
@tyronnemoss In 2020, he bragged to Joe Rogan about not voting because the polling place was at a fire station and "looked dirty." Some populist! And this was a person who started a group dedicated to electing down ballot candidates who said that it didn't matter in the end because he is "in a safe state." There were some key state legislative races, Kyle.
8
@traviswebb3532 Aaron is the most notorious troll on this channel. He is a sad and lonely boy because he has to make up dozens of usernames in order to pretend to have friends.
8
@adonaiabaddon93 His real name is Aaron Dickson.
8
@Whoyouwishyouwere NATO members don't pay dues. And if you can't appreciate the lack of self-awareness of someone notorious for not paying his bills to say "you've gotta pay," that's not our problem.
8
I had a similar experience in 2013. Someone was complaining about the evil Obamacare, and I asked him if he wanted to go back to the bad old days of people being denied coverage for being sick. He insisted he didn't, so I asked him what he wanted to do instead, and except for the mandate, he described the ACA perfectly.
8
@LeonardLeon It's where rich people schmooze. Mini golf is pretty fun, though, but that's more about the obstacles.
8
"Lowest ever recorded by a President in this century." Bush had 25% in 2008. The right-wing memory hole continues.
8
Even the time where Rubin talked about getting laughs?
8
@smtpgirl I think so, too. I don't think that we will necessarily get the realignment that we wanted, but I do hope that enough people have finally realized that you can't work with people who want you dead.
8
I swear, these people are Underpants Gnomes. Forcing a vote and losing spectacularly makes you look weak, and it ruins any goodwill for things that we have a chance for like a living wage and Student Loan Forgiveness.
8
@AlabamaMan-mp9yq [citation needed]
8
9:43 Darn right, Sam! Generation X representing!
8
@tomitstube A small part of me died though seeing Krist Novoselic defend the actions of police in the wake of the George Floyd protests. If you would have guessed between the two that Axl Rose would have taken the side of BLM, you would have won a lot of bets.
8
Bob upnkiss Hopefully, one of them gets a good enough cell phone reception to call in soon.
8
He fell down the anti-anti-Trump spider hole. That, and he always had a big libertarian streak (at one point, he supported Ron Paul). The Snowden thing made him a hero among the anti-government lefty types, but he's always been bad. The people who are talking with their dismay about what he's become missed that he's always been bad.
8
If Republicans wanted to work together, welcome aboard, but nothing I have seen in this century suggests that they do.
8
Well, millions in the group known as the greatest generation were antifascist and killed for that. I am proud that my grandpa was an antifasicst.
8
That's why it's up to anyone who fell for her grift to expose it. I fell for hers in 2016, and got suspicious when she tried to get a job with Trump and then went to Syria, but seeing the torture interview was the last straw. I thought Yang was putting a good idea out until I saw the fine print. That's why I fight these grifters so hard in the comment section.
8
@glennfarris305 Let's assume you're right, that it was a bad wheel that wasn't replaced. You know what would prevent them running the train when they refused to replace it? An inspection of the parts, but wouldn't that be, dare I say it... regulation?
8
@markzuckergecko621 Social Security taxes stop completely after $147,000, which makes it a regressive tax. Payroll taxes are the largest source of taxation for a majority of Americans. Unearned income is not subject to it at all. Over the last 40 years, the richest people in America switched their income more and more to sources like stock options and other things subject to capital gains taxes, which means that their total taxation has plummeted in half since the 1960s. In 1967, the wealthiest 400 families paid an effective rate of nearly twice what the poorest 50% did. Now, it is lower.
8
@rightrightrightuhhuhuhhuh6516 Well, not exactly inexplicable. Greenwald was always a libertarian and at one point defended Nazis assaulting people under free speech grounds. Taibbi has always defined himself y what he was against b rather than what he was for.
8
@9Crow Yeah, that's why he blocked people for tweeting "Debate Sam Seder."
8
I actually once heard, "I don't want the minimum wage to increase because I like the idea of making twice as much as spmeone," and another time when someone making $30K/year thought the progressive income tax was targeting him. Sometimes, the people on the second-lowest rung of the ladder are the cruelest of all.
8
No complaints here. It's truly amazing that they still haven't recalibrated to figure out that anti-abortion posturing only works politically when there is no chance of success.
8
Because if Kyle Kulinski thinks that you are friends, he will never criticize you.
8
@brentnoury7626 I'm guessing that you replied to the wrong person, but let's look at what actually works. Goldwater got routed in 1964, and rather than whine about things being hopeless, people built a movement, and in 16 years, they took over the Republican Party. We are right on the issues, and you want to give up after five. No wonder we can't get anything done. If a bunch of people on the left are just lazy nihilists, maybe we deserve to lose.
8
@zedwolf1589 And even as a person of faith, I can tell you that no church would want the liability if something happened on its property, and you're asking a lot of people to come in. That sort of thing isn't easy to coordinate, let alone base child care on. It's one thing to say that maybe kids a little bit older don't always need an adult around to go play for an hour or two (my daughter is six, and my rule when she goes to the park or something is that we has to stay where we can both see each other), but to leave kids unsupervised or rely on volunteers all day is ridiculous.
8
@DemonDante1000 So, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to sit and smug superiority and lose, or are you going to accept the reality that the vast majority of voters are casual observers at best and try to figure out how to do actual messaging that gets things done?
8
Is the scumbag caller who Sam annihilated over the border policy? If so, he really, really hates other people's kids.
8
He deserves it. I feel sorry for his kids, though.
8
You mean you don't like that he had no patience with someone unable to make a coherent argument who kept trying to change the subject every time he asked a question?
8
She knows exactly what she is doing. She doesn't care about results, just appearing pure. This grifter is the one who pushed the idea that Bernie could win the primary with 30% because the Not Bernie candidates would never coalesce around one candidate.
8
He may have seen one, but he doesn't know what to do with one.
8
@Philbert-s2c Idiocracy means "rule by idiots."
8
Mari Jayne Andrew Yang was a libertarian wolf in leftist clothing, but he is removing any and all pretense now.
8
If he bought a brand-new car for $14,000, he bought it 25 years ago. In other words, he is lying.
8
@robinsss No, but when you start to see the self-centered nature of libertarian thought, that may very well be the catalyst that makes you dig deeper to see if there is anything else where it is just an excuse to be selfish.
8
So sorry they had to suffer for this ideology.
8
Anti-war as a blanket statement is not a left position. There are times when a larger peace requires fighting an existential threat (see: the Civil War, WWII, for example). Taking the Just War Theory seriously is a big step in trying to figure such things out.
8
@StoveToTheFace Darn right! They need to go down the triage ladder unless they can document some legitimate medical reason such as being immunocompromised or having allergies to the vaccine.
8
@fatrobdouble Glenn Greenwald is literally a libertarian.
8
I guess that Big Orange Dummy is forgetting that the Kurds helped us defeat the Ottomans in WWI, too.
8
The GM strike proved once and for all that there is no such thing as a good employer-based plan, because they wield it like a sword of Damocles to keep wages down and workers in line.
8
He lies more than any candidate not named Donald Trump. His signature proposal is a lie, because he keeps saying that "everyone" gets a thousand bucks a month, but they don't.
