"Anyone who doesn't believe that an adult who works 40 hours a week should" Any adult working min. wage is either doing to for supplemental income and doesn't need it or simply is lazy. Plus they are not working full time in that a small percent is working full time on min. wage. The term "living wage" is subjective and doesn't mean anything. Bernie in the end was avoiding the question, he made an embarrassment of himself. So far all you have done is call me a troll, you haven't said anything to support how I am, as you feel, stupid. No different than Bernie laughing at Douglas and than avoiding questions with talking points. It works fine in politics, but never in the real world where Bernie has never worked. That is why he is a career politician form Vermont with little experience. And that is why he will get beat. If you really think you know better than let us get into a debate on the living wage. What is a "living wage" to you? What are your standards? You can start and I will tell you how the term is subjective. Until you put your money where your mouth is you will just be as foolish as Bernie who has only around 10% support.

That is why economists, except for very few ever use it. Radical politicians use it and news stations use it. What is the standard for a "living wage"? A one bedroom apartment or 3 people living in a studio? What kind of food? Transportation? What if you can walk to work like me? I earn more than my girlfriend and I walk to work. My girlfriend works 35 hours a week at $8.50/hr and she drives a sports car that she is making payments on. That $8.50/hr is a luxury payment for her and me. I bet if the min. wage didn't exist that company will be willing to hire someone at $5/hr who needs the job more than my girlfriend. But the fact that she has work experience and a college degree puts her over the top. Which brings up the next point how the min. wage kills jobs. In all, the term "living wage" is subjective. Go to grad. school in economics and do a dissertation on it, you will get kicked out. There isn't one single good reason to even have a min. wage as well. I laid out valid points and all you did was continue to laugh and call names like Bernie does. No actual rebuttal at all. Which is why Bernie will simply lose this election.

Your mentioning of Trump was an error on your part. You are so confident that I would vote for Trump that you said you would bet on it. But now you are retracting that statement. I comprehended what you said perfectly, you are just back pedaling. 3. The problem is that you don't know how to solve the problems. Bernie Sanders' policies will just compound them. The problem with Bernie is that the "problems" he brings up are over exaggerated and his ways of "fixing" them will just make them worse. You don't realize it because you refuse to look at it in any different way. I am, on my free time, willing to explain to you why Bernie is wrong in so many ways. Instead you just laugh due to you being very myopic. That is just sad. Instead of wanting to listen to the other side you follow a man who only spouts talking points and gives no solution. That is why he is going to lose. And when he loses you will cry and say we have problems in this country when in reality you are the problem for failing to be open minded and willing to tackle and learn about complex issues. Simply taxing and giving money away won't work. I make a living educating college students, I am giving you free advice in how Bernie is a fool. You're welcome :).

As with Sanders talking about people working over 40 hours a week. Doing what? Work has changed since the 40 hour work week was put in place? Work is not as physically demanding. At this point all I am asking you to do is look beyond the talking points and actually look deep into the issue. You will learn a lot and see why Bernie is a fool. But considering how you just acted here I doubt it.

Or you can blindly follow Bernie and his talking points and watch him lose. And then make excuses why your life is not good while people like me succeed. It is up to you. In all I am pursuing my PhD, Bernie can get elected and destroy the economy, I will be fine due to my skills. I really have nothing to gain from a strong economy. I will actually have more to gain from a weak economy due to lower housing prices. During the last recession I got a raise, moved 2000 miles away, got a new car and a nice apartment to live all for a low price. Seriously, you need to really look into the issue and find out why Bernie is a fool and why his policies will hurt the economy. As you do you will realize what you have to do to be successful as well.

There is hope for you, at least you are admitting some things. Yes Bernie is a hypocrite, he complains about money i politics but then gets donations himself. He is saying "if I get money for my campaign then it isn't a problem", no, it is the same thing. I guess my example didn't explain to you how you did say I was voting for Walker and Trump. If anyone did it is you with our assumptions and lack of breaking down why Bernie is right and I am wrong. To answer Sanders' question I will say this.  We should go after home owners because their wealth is 30 times of that as a renter.  How is that?  Well, 61% of the average family's wealth is in a home.  The Walton family own half of Walmart.  If you want wealth distribution you would have to giving parts of Walmart to other people.  That won't work because 90% of small businesses fail meaning Walmarts will start to go bankrupt and the ones being successful will pull away from the pack, once again wealth disparity. There is a huge different between wealth and income.  Walmart simply can't afford higher wages.  It amazes me how ignorant people are in this country.

Travis Bewley Walmart pays the market rate for a retail store.  If they were to pay anymore then they would go bankrupt.  The bigger problem is how the biggest employer in the US sells goods that are manufactured in other countries.  Manufacturing jobs pay well but we chased them out of the country due to higher regulations.  Retail businesses never pay much because their business model doesn't allow it.  Walmart would love to pay more but simply can't afford to.  The idea that Walmart likes high turnover and pissed off employees is just asinine.

The 1st amendment was written before the internet and computers. During the writing of the first amendment there were already designs for guns that can shoot multiple rounds. Plus weapons have always advanced throughout history from sticks to rocks to sharp rocks to swords then guns and so on.

He always points towards X amount of people own more wealth than half of the country (one of his handful of talking points designed to stir emotions instead of discussion). If he understood what wealth is he will see that isn't bad. I have negative wealth due to my loans......but because of my loans I am pursuing a PhD in physical chemistry that will make me very productive and successful to where I will have wealth in a few years. That is an investment. In reality I don't think Bernie is dumb though, he knows what to say to get him elected. He is a career politician. Anyone that listens to him talk that has intelligence can see that. For example he says we should ask the rich to pay their fair share, but college students are forced to pay back loans that they voluntarily pulled out themselves.

Wealth inequality happens in a lot of socialist countries with high tax rates.  That is because income is taxed, not wealth.  There is a difference.  A person can make earn a lot of income but have negative wealth due to loans.  That is why we have wealth inequality in the US because people have loans.  61% of the average family's wealth is in their house, so if you don't own a home than you have very little wealth.  At the same time you could still be making a nice wage.  Wealth inequality isn't a bad thing. Also, corporations are not receiving  welfare unless they are politically connected then that is the problem of government, not corporations.

  28. donjulioanejo You describe the problems of socialism and the min. wage.  Problem is that people who support socialism are the ones that are lazy.  I see people that get no where in life and they wonder why but the main reason is because they were lazy. Working in public education I see it a lot.  I see really hard working teachers who are organize and rarely take days off get paid the same as those that are not as organize and are lazy.  They also complain when they don't make much money when they do (they sign a 182 day contract) and I see how much waste there is in public education.  There are talks of it going private (to improve it) but they don't want that.

  33. John Edwards I worked graveyard because it paid more. A lot of graveyard shifts paid more.  I also worked at 4 in the morning.  So when I was going to work or getting off of my graveyard shift Walmart was the only place open so I shopped there.  Some people have a life where they are unable to shop at "normal hours".  Why do you want to kill more jobs by forcing people to shop when you think is "normal"?

  34. John Edwards Seems like Walmart is doing just fine in that they generate more profit than Costco and have more employees and more stores. Walmart caters to a different set of customers.  They cater to those with low income, they have a variety of goods, and they are open 24 hours for those who do work odd hours in their life.  If every business followed the Costco model I, along with several others, would suffer.  It would be difficult to find time to shop, we don't have the space to buy in bulk or the need and our choices would be limited.  Walmart is ran pretty well.  They are just different than Costco.

  39. +badpanda84 Because the rich will have access to the best of both healthcare and education and will be the only ones. The poor will take advantage of those "free" programs. The middle class will have to settle for those programs which are inferior. The rich will be the only ones that will be able to afford higher taxes and the private option. The middle class who works hard will be unable to buy the quality they want, and deserve due to higher taxes and higher cost of living because the rich pass the cost onto the consumers and workers. You are assuming that those who are rich will be willing to work for free which is not true.

  41. +badpanda84 Bernie admits that taxing Wall Street won't pay for college, the states will have to pay for 1/3 of it. So what taxes do they raise? Also, how is he going to pay off the 1.2 trillion dollar in student loan debt? He has no plan for that? And his numbers for "free" college are off and surely will fall short. So just a 0.5% tax increase will offer "free" healthcare? The reason why Vermont could not pass it was because it was going to be a lot more than that.

  46. Jason King Walmart has low prices but they are not that much lower than other grocery and retail stores. If they raised prices customers will go elsewhere where service is better. Also, why the attack on McDonalds and Walmart? They are not the only ones who pay low wages. Never mind that the can't afford higher wages.

  47. Jason King If the CEOs of Walmart and McDonalds were to earn $0 the employees there will earn an extral $0.001 per hour. Their profit margins are thin. They make a lot due to their massive amount of stocks they have out there. Those shareholders want to see their investment grow (who are, BTW not mega rich also). If the CEO of Walmart and McDonalds were to raise wages that will hurt profits to where they will be earning in the red. That will ruin the value of the company and thus stocks. The shareholders will then vote out the CEOs and hire new ones. In short, they simply can't afford higher wages. Plus, what about smaller companies such as Hy Vee or Raleys?

  49. Jason King The Walton family are not the CEOs of walmart. And the Walton family earn that much due to them owning around 50% of stocks of Walmart. The Walton family can't just give money away because that would mean less money for investing in Walmart and growing it which creates jobs and increases the value of stocks for other shareholders.
