  2. It isn't a big deal. That church is a non-profit organization and when they applied for the grant they ranked 5th out of 44 which is high enough to receive money. What was preventing them from receiving money is simply the fact that it was a church. Beyond that they are a non-profit organization like the Boys and Girls Club and thus the same rules should apply. Denying them money is actually unconstitutional as it discriminates base on religion. The SC is right on this one.

  4. +rjdulac Every other recession in US history was recovered from in around 5 years with little to no federal government involvement. Come 1929 a recession hits. Come FDR and his new deal and we don't recover until the 1940s, over a decade later. There is a reason why it was a depression.

Ignoring Alex Jones as I find him to be a conspiracy theorist, Crowder and Shapiro have topics you can debate on. Are there some issues you can't debate? Yes, such as the earth is flat. Crowder and Shapiro don't support that. However, the problem is Kyle feels other issues such as the min. wage, universal healthcare, and the issues surrounding climate change (look up Crowder's viewpoint on it) are not debatable. They are. Saying they are not debatable is completely dismissing one side where people eventually catch on that those that do that are hacks.

  20.  @Holipsism  , Shapiro did beat Cenk. Cenk simply told people to "Google it" when the issues are complex and require a much deeper discussion than "Google it". Kyle would do very poorly against Shapiro on policy issues as Kyle is a person who completely dismisses the other side. I have seen so many people rip on Shapiro but can never explain how he is wrong.

  22. +Ethan Cooke Poor black areas are areas of high crime. It isn't so much that they are black, it has more to do with low income areas. Low income areas are areas of high crime. Go to a neighborhood with higher income and you would see no cops. You also see no graffiti or sketchy people at night. Now compare that to a low income area. Black people are also poorer when compared to white. It all factors in at the end. You shouldn't be looking at them targeting black people, it is cops targeting high crime areas that are low income areas and black people are statistically poor. Adding all the variables it leads to more black arrests, but is isn't because cops are racists.

  36. Economics is far more complicated than what David laid out. He is assuming that we can just raise taxes and people won't react by changing spending habits. They will. Even a 4% increase on income tax will change people's consumption. He is also assuming the programs to pay for will cost X amount where federal government programs typically cost a lot more. For example, look at what happened in the Community Mental Health Act of 1963. When these programs struggle leftists will simply say "it needs more money" and then say "raise taxes". This is actually their response to the fact that Medicare and SS are running out of money. So at what point do you stop raising taxes and stop spending?

  50. João Marques Norway uses a major resource in oil to fund for it's programs.  When that runs out they are screwed. The US has higher productivity, healthcare and science research and innovation along with better technology innovation.  All those countries have a larger debt per capita than the US and is basically protected by the US military.  The US is a more progressive country all around. The simple fact is that you can't consume what you don't produce.  Just because the government is going to provide you with something doesn't mean you will get it.  Take healthcare for example.  In the UK they ration out their care to where mothers are giving birth in bathrooms.  When you don' produce you can't consume and that is why socialism doesn't work.  It hinders production.  Socialism is great if you don't want to advance in society.  When you want a more progressive society than socialism should be avoided.
