What messenger? All Fauci has done is fear monger and play politics.
1
In a nation of 327+ million people those are actually low numbers. According to the CDC more have died with pneumonia.
1
@singvogel7895 this virus is not that deadly.
1
"We need open borders, and these new immigrants need to be given free healthcare and college paid from by the Koch brothers, Walmart, Amazon, and the top 10th of top 100th of the 1%!" Bernie Sanders
1
@Darkannihilator1 , you can't quantify "happiness". Saying they are "happy" is not a solid argument as it is subjective. For example, in the US there is a correlation between income and suicide rates.
1
It was a fact check where Bernie claimed that the study says the US would save money under Medicare for all. Bernie pointed to that dollar amount. However, that dollar amount is just for public spending and does not include private. Also, the number admits that the number is a conservative estimate and chances are it would cost more, and it makes assumptions that increasing demand will not raise prices and doctors would take a 40% pay cut. Even with these assumptions and taking the lower amount you still get a very high number that will require a 50% increase in taxes. Point being is that Bernie is misrepresenting the study.
1
The study looks at only public spending. It says "increase federal budget", it does not include private spending. Also, the study admits that the number is a conservative estimate saying "It is likely that the actual cost of M4A would be substantially great than has been estimated from its legislative text."
1
Other nations have a private system of some kind. Even strong supporters of medicare for all say there will be a private system for you to use if you want.
1
MithraMusic, a program like M4A harms the middle class. They cannot afford to pay double and thus end up using medicare which is inferior to a private system. The rich can afford to pay double so they will get the best healthcare. No different than how the rich can afford to pay for the taxes for public schools and send their kids to private. Social programs screw over the middle class the most.
1
Bernie is all about discussing the issues. Here you have a study that is doing just that. When it came out Bernie completely misrepresents it. He needs to be held accountable. I support discussing the issues but Bernie needs to be honest about it. This is why people don't take him serious, he has to lie to push his ideas.
1
Matthew, police and roads are locally ran and funded and are a drop in the bucket compared to healthcare costs. Also, they are nowhere new as complex as healthcare.
1
She wears a mask
1
Not true.
1
"Socialism is against capitalism." Bernie Sanders is against capitalism. Small business owners have expressed concerns about his plan to him and he basically tells them to screw off. As a whole Bernie is a narcissist. You can tell when he bought his third home.
1
The people want to go back to work.
1
She isn't wrong. He wasn't a democrat. Why did he run as a democrat? He is on the democrat side until the democrats mess up. At that point Bernie is no longer a democrat.
1
Fauci is not nice. He is an out of touch fool that should not be in the position he is in.
1
So is Jeff Bezos going to a talking point for Bernie just like the Koch Brothers are and the Walton family?
1
The idea of preventative healthcare can be argued against. When Medicaid was expanded to 6000 patients in Oregon and those patients were compared to 6000 patients who did not receive Medicaid there wasn't any different in health outcomes. Reality is a major part of preventative care is lifestyle choices such as diet and exercise.
1
The point was to place us in a position to keep deaths down. Even with rising cases deaths are still low and not rising. The point was never to stop the spread. In fact, we want it to spread to build up herd immunity. As long as deaths do not spike up we are fine.
1
@brooke7806 1000 is low compared to where we were at in April. Also, on average 7500 die a day in the US for many causes. So is 1000 a day really that big if a number.
1
@jockyoung4491 define "many". And yes, the fact people die everyday is relevant. You can't just throw numbers out there, you have to put them in perspective. For example, according to the University of Minnesota 40% of deaths are in nursing homes. According the UCSF 50% of new nursing home patients die in 5 months. So here we are shutting down a nation, depression is up, antidepressant use is up to where the FDA placed on on a shortage list, substance abuse is up, etc. And how could we have done better.
1
Or people with rational thought. Go ahead and dig to find deaths for a virus that is not that deadly.
1
What truth? To live in fear?
1
It is on you to stay safe. In the end you have to look after yourself. Because a government keeping you "safe" can be used against you.
1
Most politicians try to explain why. Problem is that in politics people only look for yes or no on complex issues.
1
Uh, saying other nations do it is not a strong argument as you are ignoring many factors outside of healthcare that can contribute to the outcomes.
1
"Let me sum up why for Bernie, he wants over taxation along with higher deficit spending. " That pretty much sums up all of his speeches.
1
Robert Jesson, great point. I hate the arguments of "other countries do it". Other countries are different and have different cultures. You cannot compare. Australia is an island, why compare it to the US?
1
Socialism fails on the large scale because future generations become entitled and lazy. Why work when the government can just provide everything for you?
1
Not true. The study was just for public spending where Bernie is trying to compare it to what we spend now both publicly and privately. Also, the study made many assumptions that are unrealistic unless the quality of healthcare will drop. That is not reported as well. What happened is that Bernie took a number and completely misrepresented it. Bernie is being dishonest here because he is a career, corrupt politician.
1
He also said the SC makes the law of the land. Apparently he does not understand that is the job of Congress.
1
Because he is a hack. He has been a nobody until recently and since then he has shown to have no clue the general public thinks and how to handle this situation. All he does is fear monger and gives no positive outlook. It divided our nation into 1. people are confused as he is not telling the full story 2. people are scared as all he does is fear monger 3. people are sick of him I am in group three. I am all for taking precautions. But when Fauci does nothing but fear monger and his predictions continue to be wrong I cannot listen anymore. Have been more correct than Fauci.
1
Deaths are still low. Fauci has been nothing but negative.
1
Bernie, in less than 3 minutes, went to identity politics and a rant on healthcare and wages. This is why Bernie is considered to be a joke by many. He falls to the same talking points as opposed to staying on topic.
1
Deaths are still low and evidence shows that kids are less likely to get the disease. The goal from the beginning was to slow down the spread, and with kids it is slow. It was never about stopping the spread to be zero.
1
Yakno Yaa, Canada has a lower murder rate than the US if you remove all gun murders from the US. At that point you have to realize it is that the US, for many reasons, is simply a more violent nation. That is not a gun issue.
1
So natural resources are gift of god according to Moore. Well, food is listed at that, and Moore isn't conserving food. And the tea party is for conserving money, that means not throwing away in health care, unemployment, welfare, college education, etc. but investing it. They are for a balance budget admendment which is what we need, it controls the government.
1
This is how Persia became Iran. One side of the political spectrum silencing and arresting the other.
1
We do not govern on polls. Bernie needs to stop pointing to opinion polls with vague questions.
1
Oh, now Bernie Sanders cares about the military when he been wanting to cut it for years. This communist needs to go away.
1
@JRG2733 the issue is that this virus is not that deadly. The vast majority are old. For example, overall over 90% who die were 55 and older. In NY those who die who were 44 and younger made up 4% of the deaths. Out of those over 2/3 had underlying conditions. Thus, virtually all who die are either sick or old to begin with. The next issue is that you can build up an immunity to this, and potentially one up to around 10 years. So while we wait for a vaccine we can push for herd immunity to avoid another spike. To do that, however, we need to open up. Now is the time. Our hospitals have empty spaces and viruses do not travel as well outside, especially under warm weather. There is also evidence that more than we think have the immunity. But staying lock down is not going to help in both the economy and overall health. In reality, staying lock down will lead to another spike where opening up won't.
1
So many triggered leftists here. Tapper is correct, Bernie is wrong (or lied). The Koch brothers study did not say that Medicare for all would save the American people money. Sorry that facts hurt your feelings.
1
bwink23, Bernie is entertainment, so are his fans. He will never become president, but watching him rant on "living wage" and "tax the rich" and "white people can't be poor" and "the top 1%" is funny. At this point I am just laughing at stupidity of him and his fans.
1
When emotions go up logic and reasoning go down. This girl should be seeing a counselor. She should not be paraded around by the media pushing for gun control propaganda.
1
Bernie has one tax plan, tax everyone at 90%.
1
This is a violation of free speech. What Jones said was sick in many ways, but his speech should be protected. This is setting a bad standard. At what point do those on the right start suing left wing media for the lies they spread?
1
@SmileyD7777 the problem is Fauci is all doom and negative. No positive news. He could have brought up natural immunity that was known since May 2020 and it being long term as a light at the end of the tunnel. He could have been honest on the death rate being less than 1%. Overall, many can be honest about the actual death count where the 800,000 is overstated in that almost all who died would have been dead in the same timeframe based on many objective measures. He could have weighed out the pros and cons of the lockdowns and they psychological damage it can do to others and the economic damage. He didn't. All he talked about was the virus and with no positive talk about there being an end to this. At that point many, like me, just realize this virus is here to stay. We rather live life and enjoy it as opposed to living in fear. If covid kills me at least I will be enjoying life in the process. Also, we have a vaccine. At the very beginning a vaccine was never guaranteed. Well, here it is. If you are vaccinated you are safe. Others can choose to take the risk. Time to move on in life. That is why so many are sick of Fauci. He wants this pandemic to keep going for fame and money. That is why he gives no end to this.
1
It is more than just paying taxes, you have to see if you are getting your money's worth. Prior to the Revolutionary War the colonies were paying less taxes than the British. However, they did not like a centralized government overseas taking their money and them not seeing the benefits. Thus the created their own. In order to see if you are getting your money's worth you have to keep government as local as possible. No one is against taxes, it is about getting your money's worth and spending taxes in the best way.
1
That is mainly due to culture and their small populations.
