  5. Yeah, the good old days. When women knew their place and domestic abuse was ignored by the police. When "proper gents" like the Kray brothers could be protected by corrupt coppers and nobody would say much. When racial prejudice was out in the open and venomously cruel. The 1960s was a time of social snobbery, class bias, racial profiling and in some quarters, a lingering nostalgia for the "good old days" of the 1930s.

It examines the ways in which the American legal system has been engineered to discriminate against people of colour, either openly - Jim Crow Laws; covenants forbidding resale of property to non-whites; "sundown" towns and counties - or in a more nuanced fashion - restrictive hiring practices; second rate education facilities; most recently, removal of books by or about people of colour from school libraries. While featuring prominently in the right-wing's culture wars, CRT has had very little impact in the UK.

Before standing for election, one was an opthalmologist, the second a solicitor, the third was an engineer and IT consultant and the fourth was a barrister.

This so scandalized the legislators of Tennessee that they rushed through legislation establishing a minimum age for marriage. It was fixed at THIRTEEN. Even today, however, California, New Mexico and Oklahoma do not specify a minimum age for marriage, provided it has parental consent. "Our country has no room for paedophilia as a way of life", but one exception to that rule would seem to be the USA.

The tabloid newspapers' frenzy over the behaviour of the Duke of York, rest on the allegation that he had consensual carnal knowledge of a "minor". Problem is that the girl concerned was 17. Under the "sensible laws" of the UK there would be no case to answer because the age of consent here is 16. In Florida, however it is 18, which makes Florida an outlier. The contiguous states of Georgia and Alabama set the age a year lower. Confusing, isn't it? One further point, if you are going to attempt to insult me by dragging out the rotting corpse of Britain's former national treasure, at least learn to spell his name. It was "Savile". With ONE "L".

Yarmouth is a decaying seaside town, with a disproportionately elderly population. If "the hospitals are packed, GP surgeries are bursting at the seams and dentists are inaccessible" in Yarmouth, reducing immigration will only exacerbate the situation.

  49. No National Health Service at all, because immigrants make up a substantial proportion of the nursing staff and doctors, and an even higher proportion of the ancillary staff. London Transport at a standstill. Public transport across the rest of the country badly curtailed - lack of drivers, cleaners. Boring, stodgy food. TThe good old days, when people left their back doors unlocked because there was nothing in the house worth stealing.
