@keithparker1346 while we do have to be careful not to go Full Zimbabwe, it is true that Reeves is being too conservative, small and large C!
1
@timelwell7002 Starmer has done a classic Starmer and planted his arse firmly on the fence on PR Basically he won't take a position, so if we can get strong public support for it, he'll deign to put his name on the act of Parliament At least he's stopped opposing PR...
1
@realtijuana5998 also Truss and Kwarteng
1
They deploy it in the property market to stop ordinary people buying their own house
1
Realistically, this is needed in our FPTP voting system - a lot of support in one constituency wins a seat, the same support spread out wins none However, you can't treat volunteers as servants. There's ways to inspire and encourage people to campaign elsewhere, and Starmer's way is not even close to the best way!
1
Only green are offering any, so that's a trick question!
1
@keithparker1346 some of it will definitely be people giving up in stress and confusion from trying to deal with the willfully awful system
1
The financial incompetence and hyperinflation isn't a good look
1
Carla Denyer said Kier had changed the Labour party - into the Tories Carla Denyer is correct!
1
@deemitchell9544 definitely antisemitic. You don't get kicked out of Labour for being transphobic 😡
1
@georginabryan4772 well, byline are about 20k ahead of Dan in fundraising. Shame 😁
1
I have mixed feelings about Galloway, but of this I am certain - if we keep splitting and falling out the status quo parties will keep winning We need to acknowledge our differences, but not let those differences divide us. If we are divided, it's austerity forever 🙁
1
@kwanchan6745 depends on your seat - there are some constituencies where the Greens are the strongest party outside the big two - check local polling, or previous results if there's no recent local poll data If the LibDems are the best option where you are, then go for it! 🙂
1
@kwanchan6745 so what you're saying is everyone has to unite on the Greens, or we get the landlords and shareholders party?
1
@kwanchan6745 It's widely observable that swing voters get listened to more than steadfast loyalists. It's not fair, but it's fact We need to prove that we are swing voters, so we get listened to. Right now, the Tories are tearing themselves apart. There will never be a better time to get the attention of the established parties
1
@keithparker1346 I agree that we should judge people by actions not looks, but this is a bit of both That picture is from the cover of the Evening Standard, a Tory leaning paper. It's highly likely she was involved in picking the picture, so one of the actions we can judge her on is looking at that picture, and saying "yeah, that's how I want to announce my candidacy on the front page of the newspaper!"
1
@skyblazeeterno if you're talking about the "economically inactive", that includes people on early retirement You think a former senior manager is going to give up early retirement to work in a care home?
1
@oneoflokis I agree! Fascist Tories out first though 🙂
1
I want to hold the Chancellor to a bit of a higher standard than "not screamingly incompetent and corrupt" 🙄
1
@johndownes3841 never have, never will!
1
@fatherjack1148 true that they are all thatcherites, but blue are far worse than red...
1
@Daniel-py6rd grooming gangs are a serious problem, but it's racist to pretend they don't also come in white!
1
Are these the same work from home jobs that his colleague Mogg wants to force into offices? Typically contradictory thinking from the GBNews crew and Tories...
1
It is said that you're a native Londoner from the first time you complain about the bloody tourists standing on the left By that measure, London was built by natives 😁
1
@tt-ew7rx I suspect she'd fail the same standard, and that there's people born on the other side of the planet who get day-to-day London better than Hall does!
1
@user-jc4lb5mm7x or maybe she does, and won't sell out the people she is standing to represent
1
@yellowgreen5229 destroy democracy by voting for democratic parties ? How does that work?
1
Depends if it fragments. If you get loose material you could be looking at an undersea equivalent of the Chernobyl fallout If it stays intact, water is really good at blocking radiation. The area within a few metres will be spectacularly lethal, but beyond that the levels will be barely higher than typical background radioactivity
1
You can't threaten to sack ChatGPT if it doesn't follow your agenda Murdoch may find generative AI wanders off from the editorial boundaries rather easily 😉
1
I wish we could focus on policies, but Hall doesn't have much to focus on beyond being petty, spiteful and entitled. Plenty of London Assembly meetings to review if you want to see her "working"
1
If a 5 year old pushes another 5 year old, we wouldn't accept "someone pushed me first" as an excuse Yet with supposedly grown-up world leaders, we do have to tell them "someone else tried a genocide" doesn't excuse more genocidal behaviour. They are an embarrassment to humanity
1
Well, Starmer did say if you don't like my changes, leave Well done Keith! You got what you asked for 😁 I have donated to the campaign 🙂
1
They will absolutely restore the whip - this time They don't want to give someone like Zara Sultana four years warning to build an independent campaign team
1
and the fossil shills say wind is unreliable 🙄
1
I wouldn't go that far, but I do worry that Westminster sees the jong un dynasty as an inspiration...
1
Sadly, the same can be said the other way around. It's especially ugly when you bring immigration in. There's a certain faction of (generally older) socialists that would rather shoot themselves in the foot than stand with other workers that might be from a different background 🙁
1
Nonsense, unless you're claiming he was somehow in charge of American banking regulation!
1
@JH-lf4ql they will tackle corruption, that I believe, and won't pull any deranged Liz Truss style stunts, so that's preferable to Blue However, they are actively avoiding tackling inequality. Anyone currently screwed on housing will remain screwed, and cost of living problems will not ease significantly
1
Our legal system is built on the common law assumption of permission, so if there's no law or precedent prohibiting it, it's allowed This differs from civil legal systems, which do explicitly define every case So if there's no law against protest, and precedent shows it was allowed in the past, it's allowed
1
@timelwell7002 I guess we'll find out how badly the establishment wants to eject the legacy of Boris! Something for us to watch for in the future 🙂
1
You say wages and capital gains should be taxed at the same rate? I disagree. CG should be taxed more
1
@JH-lf4ql If I was in her seat of Coventry South I'd vote Labour, but I'm not, so I won't. The candidate here is a textbook Starmer loyalist
1
Pandemics are chaotic, not cyclic. There's no reason why another couldn't happen soon - especially when political momentum is more "let's pretend nothing happened" than "let's learn what lessons we can from this"
1
@KernowDamo feel free to run with it and tell me if you think it's missing anything!
1
But isn't this beautiful? It sends a powerful message, without disturbing the anti-Tory tactical vote elsewhere This tactic wouldn't work under PR. Just sayin 😉
1
@richardgallagher4880 you keep defending Etonians and their policies. If you don't think they are on your side, why do you stand up for them?
1
@richardgallagher4880 I observe your behaviour, and comment on it. If you don't want people thinking you're an Etonian shill, stop shilling Etonian rhetoric
1
@richardgallagher4880 crappy troll is crap
1
@stephenholmes1036 that everybody's mental health is important? What's wrong with that?
1
@indricotherium4802 The stupid two party system is the problem. Why take the risk of spitting off and facing the uphill struggle for recognition when there's the comfortable hope you'll turn things around internally Any Day Soon?
