It stinks when politicians and media are so cosy This goes far beyond the BBC!

What should Sunak do now? He should admit his mandate is in tatters, and call a general election He won't, though 🙁

"Does the school have the power to limit what I say?" While you are representing the school as a member of staff, yes, they can do exactly that. You have the freedom to work somewhere else if you don't like the contract
312
@garethwilliams4467 true, when they are genuinely illegal. Too many people misuse "illegal" to mean "foreign people I don't like" though
196
Let's ignore all that waffle and cut to the core of the matter Anyone actually feel better off after 14 years of Tories?
166
I can't wait for the day when it is safe to say "The best thing to do with Liz Truss, is ignore her" Need to get her out of government first though...
157
"Let the markets decide" While you can't put a profit value on a nurse, the market can tell you when they aren't paid enough If you struggle to hire enough, that's the market telling you to pay them more!
155
Mr "why don't they protest in parliament square" has no idea how often that has already been tried, and largely ignored
153
Powerful line at the end - it's only where Tories have control that the problems exist!
152
When did we become a country that protects statues and motorways with more vigor than we protect people?
145
If I can pose a counter question - given the list of catastrophes since 2017, who still thinks Corbyn would have done worse?
129
@PatrickStarfishman worse than Johnson? Worse than Truss? Sunak looks better compared to his predecessors, but turns out he's been fiddling the books to help his wife's business. Would Corbyn do something like that?
128
Liz - "We should be less dependent on authoritarian regimes" Apparently we should have home-grown authoritarian regimes so we aren't dependent on foreign authoritarians!
118
It's entirely fair to recognise the pandemic added to waiting lists The Tories need to be held to account for the massive waiting lists that had built up before the pandemic!
111
I seem to remember the mandate being new hospitals and levelling up. What happened to that? 🤔
75
I had some concerns about his foreign policy, but on domestic issues he is spot on!
73
If Tory Boy is so sure he represents the people, why not have an election and prove it?
72
Farage is that guy who's the first to point a finger and say "they are staring at us funny", while also being the first to leg it if a fight kicks off
66
Charging for 'minor' ailments is a terrible idea. A lot of those 'minor' ailments are the early symptoms of major ailments. Discourage people from getting minor ailments treated, and you miss the chance to fix major ailments before they become major
65
@nick1065 I can't wait! We'll start seeing the government actually solving problems 🙂
61
@branmaher6684 Absolutely every job that interacts with other people has a standard of conduct for how you address people and expected standards of politeness It's simple common sense, if you can't meet the expected standard of conduct, you need to find yourself a different job
59
@johnrussell3961 you mean it was all a con? From the Tories! Shocking 😝
54
@Tom as opposed to greedy people hiring people on wages so threadbare that they still stay poor?
54
@jasonbourne7499 "Take back control!" "Secure our borders!" Turns out the French do Brexit better than actual Brexiteers 🤣
52
So when is the referedum on the CPTPP then?
51
That was truly epic
51
@Fossil Fish Leg can you imagine if someone on benefits said "I didn't need it but I claimed it anyway"?
50
I hope the RMT win, and they start a trend that gets other people better pay too. Wages have been pushed down for too long!
49
Most of them are reasonably well off, but looking for excuses to explain why they are not yet millionaires
49
@SonOfExcess we tolerate everything except intolerance and hatred. Your freedom of opinion stops when it calls for eliminating that freedom for others!
49
Any journalist who has been cheerleading these cowboys needs to take a long hard look at themselves right now
48
He says "should we do the responsible thing or the popular thing" after just doing something neither popular nor responsible 🙄
46
@branmaher6684 Newsreaders have to read the news they are given to read. Diplomats have to negotiate the mandate they are given. Everyone who's job involves communication has a framework and standard they are expected to work within This isn't any different - there's an acceptable standard for addressing people at this institution. Meet the standard, or go elsewhere
45
All those things she didn't know? She's on the London Aseembly. Knowing this stuff is literally her current job!
45
@Snookbone if they were making me fund it, protesting "not my sport" is the least I would do!
45
...and the bulb still won't be changed, but someone will gain a new yacht
43
If this is stability, I wish we'd had that "chaos with Ed Milliband"!
43
There were two people left of centre on that panel, having an intelligent discussion about how we can cover peoples basic needs in a sustainable and affordable way How refreshing was that? Why doesn't this happen more often?
42
My take on the final question: A patriot wants to improve their country A nationalist wants to pretend everything is already perfect
42
Andy is responsible for a big heavy coach on public roads. Anyone else terrified?
41
@kippsguitar6539 it's not about jealousy. It's looking at which way Musk wants to travel, and asking if we actually want to jump on his bandwagon
40
The other big problem for the Tories is the findings also linked the finding to UN membership Do you think they'd give up the permanent seat on the UN security counci just for the Rwanda plan?
40
When have Tories worried about details, or actually making their plans work? Total lack of planning hadn't stopped them in the past, why would they start now?
39
@jasonbourne7499 There aren't enough French people driving to the UK to form a 20 mile queue
39
@andy1way we can get a manual job, but we can't get a manual job that pays enough to buy a house
38
@jollylollypop1 well, it did have a meaning, but it's been devalued into nonsense recently...
37
@branmaher6684 if your theoretical "Rascist Slur News" existed, then you knew what you signed up to, and yes, you should quit if you don't want to be part of that!
37
@holdontoyourwig They shouldn't be the same, but if you want your bins collected you should pay binmen enough to pay their bills
36
Makes as much sense as the pro lifers who are happy to see children go hungry...
36
It's the same nonsense as people who claim that disliking the Tory party means you hate the UK
