Well, I hope they heard the response!
1
@Funintherain13 something needs to change. If wages can't go up, then the cost of living, especially the cost of housing, needs to come down!
1
Why not? There's good jobs available maintaining them, and it brings down electricity bills
1
@Movies4evaa maybe executive wages and share dividends need to be trimmed a bit? Had to claim that everything is running well so they deserve it...
1
The USA pulls the IMF strings, not the EU
1
If they continue with austerity we aren't going to be growing
1
@williamproffitt6688 Mistakes happen most when people are overworked and tired They are striking in part to improve recruitment and retention, so they are not so overworked and tired Paying better wages saves lives
1
@williamproffitt6688 the market disagrees, and staff are voting with their feet
1
@pavelowpower they wouldn't be striking because the recruitment and retention problem would be solved
1
Wonder when he'll reapply for that green card? Not much left here for a banker to stick around for
1
@bw6316 In real terms, that returns pay to the levels paid under Labour If Labour can afford it, why can't the Tories?
1
Yeah, this is what taking back control really looks like!
1
@georgewright9914 They aren't investing. Most of those profits are stashed in tax havens This lack of investment is why productivity is so poor
1
We are far from full. Without immigration the population would be falling
1
I could say takes one to know one, but Boris nailed it there
1
Lynch cares about ordinary people more than any Tory ever has
1
Got to give Minford credit - at least he's consistent in being wrong!
1
They didn't need Sky to tell them. They already knew
1
If it's losing money, I assume the current owners would be happy to give it back to national ownership for a low price? 😉
1
Maybe supermarket workers should!
1
@Richard_Straker but Great British Energy will achieve energy independence and decarbonisation - no tradeoff between energy security and climate security needed!
1
@Richard_Straker Green hydrogen is the long term solution, and in the short term every step towards decarbonisation means we can prioritise things like heavy industry with the remaining fossil fuel capacity and limit our exposure to international cost spikes
1
@Richard_Straker Solar and Wind aren't hypothetical. We can scale those up while we solve the rest Every kwh we generate from renewables is one less kwh we need to buy on the global market
1
If we want people healthy and working we should invest in the NHS!
1
Barrister's rates are more like a small business than a wage - it's not take home pay, it has to cover job expenses too Compare them to self employed plumbers or electricians for a fair comparison
1
We've been trusting "the rich" to create better jobs for four decades now. They've failed! Time to try taxing the rich instead 🙂
1
@EliF-ge5bu the NHS isn't supposed to make money. It keeps everyone healthy so we can go and make money!
1
Normal people don't spend their whole day worrying about penises
1
There are a lot of newspapers and TV journalists who cover for the Tories while giving Labour no slack. Labour are doing great, given the stacked deck
1
@acthompson9983 Not sure what your point is. If the majority don't want the Tories, and we boot the Tories out, that is democracy
1
and yet the Tories pushed through a policy that experts warned would result in an interest rate hike 🤦♂️
1
and it's all planned, because it's what Liz Truss was promising all summer during the Leadership campaign. This was their goal the whole time
1
The train company contracts are with the government, and those contracts give the government control over certain things One of those things is negotiation with the Unions any deal has to be signed off by the Tories, and the Tories are blocking everything
1
@FlashdogFul28 I have to acknowledge that the Tories and their chums have one he'll of a PR setup going on! Just a shame they don't put as much time, money and effort into making the country run better!
1
@paulanderson7796 either way, the Tories need to go!
1
Inflation is external, and will be falling whatever we do The stagnation is government policy, and increasing wages will ease that
1
Just think of the thick walls and solid bars he'll be protected by! /s
1
So make people work against their will? We have a name for that, what is it?
1
Enough about MPs though, give nurses a pay rise!
1
@danielwebb8402 so the railway is a utility then? In which case it should be nationalised and nobody should be profiting from it
1
Tory Members are certifiably loopy?
1
@yiannismcaughrey1999 In Italy, a cabinet reshuffle counts as a new government. By that standard, how many changes has our FPTP strong and stable Tory government been through recently?
1
@yiannismcaughrey1999 Perhaps some things are best not rushed? Maybe a bit more discussion and collaboration will prevent policy announcements which get abandoned 24 hours later!
1
Maybe she thinks we are as clever as she is? 🤣
1
19% would get them back to the real terms pay nurses had under Labour If the Tories can't afford it, it's a confession that the economy was better under Labour
1
@rashawnpatton7356 Let's hope Truss and pals can shake a few people out of their old habits!
1
@mogznwaz not everyone's taxes - just those who've been dodging taxes and reaping the benefits of society without properly contributing to society
1
So we got "jump off the cliff" done, what next?
1
@Helpm'boab still fits - China's economy is starting to look shaky
1
Wasn't the unions who put the son of a KGB officer in the House of Lords...
