Don't start with that BS. Doesn't help anyone.
12
Which is why it's important not to overly romanticise and whitewash our history.
11
I'd love a gif of Ollie's reaction to the first one. I don't understand the mentality of sending unsolicited dick pics. I'll be totally honest, I feel a shred of awe at the confidence these men must have. I'm certainly not that that bold and I'd like to think, if I were, that I'd use such boldness in a more worthwhile way. Seriously guys, just don't.

@Dan_1348 Massive salaries have not been shown to attract fantastic people. It HAS been shown to attract immoral, greedy people who'll cut regulations and staff levels to the bone if it makes them a bit more profit. These are people for whom there can never be enough, so they'll seek to take and take at exponentially higher rates.
11
No, not middle aged northern women. He can only hypnotise people with low morals and high ambitions, far beyond their ability.
11
@Rachelforpeace1If you're not religious, who "promised" the land exclusively to Jewish people?
11
@jimi1is3king It's not his. Taxpayer money, chap. That's our highway. The king can get shafted.
10
@danw5760 According to who, you?
10
You sound sane...
10
@mrdaveythebaby Give it a few years, the way things are going we might just find out...
10
@marksavage1108 I notice you're really trying to dodge that question...
10
Yes. Yes, she did.
10
@iFunktion So we're just out-sourcing our carbon footprint to other countries, that doesn't make us any less complicit.
10
Okay. This interview isn't about Ghandi.
10
@YeshuaIsLord7777 Trying to enforce conservative values on those three issues has not helped the US at all.
9
Or because they're British? This is their home. Not sure what your problem is here.
9
100%, we've got a political system that attacks those with decent intentions and empowers those only present to fill their pockets. I like Mhairi Black, I'm not Rayner's biggest fan but I appreciate her fire. Surely we could have a political system that empowers these people to do what they're there for.
9
@aituk Was there peace on the 7th? What about Israel's attack on the Jenin camp in July?
9
Ask her to come and do a longer form interview. Household names like Vorderman can do a lot of good by helping spread the word and direct our attention towards the right folk.
9
Grimes was absolutely lying when he said he didn't know about the religious connections. He's like a cheap Charlie Kirk.
9
People ARE resigning. It's lead to serious staffing issues, putting those still there under greater stress and burden, so the cycle worsens. And then what, we end up with a ghost of a health service?
9
He's got the vague beginnings of a point, but what are British values? That's so often the part that gets left unsaid. When it does get said, it's very clear that they're just expressing their personal values.
9
All the evidence suggests Paul would strongly disagree.
9
@elanacharles-hiddengem No-one is telling you that 4yo can start taking puberty blockers or "self-mutilate". That's a ridiculous lie being peddled by the likes of Matt Walsh, a man particularly interested in lowering ages of consent and focuses on the fertility of 16yo girls. The nature loving yoga enthusiast becoming a mad anti-vaxxer, though? I can think of a half dozen people from my broader social circle who followed exactly that route.
9
This is someone who also said, without a hint of irony, that having an unelected head of state is a good thing... and then just moved on. No follow-up, no explanation of that stance. She's clearly not a thinker.
8
@pjmlfc05 Which makes it a former hotel. Pretty simple, chap.
8
@tomasrocha6139 Meanwhile, everything is going so well, right?
8
Starmer's "achievement" was barely improving on the same voteshare Corbyn got in 2019. I'm not kidding, it's only an increase of 1.7%. And they called Corbyn "unelectable". Starmer hasn't really achieved anything, all credit here goes to the Tories.
8
@VectorTracker Why was he a hero? Because we're told he was? He didn't fight and put his life on the line, he wasn't struggling through the blitz. Why do we encourage history to forget or overlook his bad deeds?
8
@maxcsw5809 The implication being it would have been bad had he got in because he's bad fiscally... just how well have things gone in that regard since the last election?
8
@vespasian266 He literally accused people of being "silly", spending all their money and then blaming the government for it. Whereas the reality was that the government's actions caused cost of living to soar. So what actually happened was that the government was "silly" and they cost us our money. Are you getting this?
8
@TBakerXD I'd like a coalition. But a properly representative one which understands the need for cooperation and compromise.
8
Then you missed the point of what Paul is saying here.
8
@Solus94 I was at the march for peace today. It was enormous, hundreds of thousands of people. Didn't hear anyone shout "jihad". Didn't see any placards about it. Saw plenty of Jewish people marching for peace alongside everyone else. The only mention I heard of Hamas was when multiple speakers condemned their actions and called for the release of the hostages.
8
I only disagree in that I think she should just be removed from her position. Totally unfit for public service.
8
I'm a bit concerned by the green belt bit. Partly 'cos I'm a hippie, I have concerns regarding further destruction of animal habitat and further damage to our environment. I also question if it's practical. How many people living in such an area will also be working in said area? If they're having to commute further then that's further environmental impact and additional costs to the residents. We NEED more housing but I think we also need to look really hard at how efficiently we're using brown-field sites within our towns and cities. EDIT: I'm also really interested in what Oli mentioned at the end but didn't have time to go into. I think we need a really hard look at restructuring of just HOW we live within this world and I'd love to hear more on that topic. Anyone know where I could start learning more?
7
"We vote them in to think for us, don't we?" How very telling...
7
@pjmlfc05 Yes and no. They kinda stop being hotels when all the staff are let go, it just becomes another holding center.
7
@pjmlfc05 No, it's a former hotel. That's the only way of looking at it.
7
@thomasj5083 That's neoliberalism for you. Great if you're a soulless money grubber, not so great for everyone else...
7
You sound like yet another person who gets their understanding of communism from the Daily Mail.
7
@nicksimmons7234 So then what's the point? If you think it's valid to put values and principles aside, to do whatever it takes, because the only goal is attaining power, then what's the point of any of it?
7
In an ideal world, yes. But employers are increasingly hostile towards staff taking sick days and the SSP isn't adequate. It sucks but we don't have a choice.
7
@Evolve-TV You're telling me all I need to know to make that judgement.
7
@Evolve-TV It's hard when people don't stick to the script, isn't it? Can't have a copy+paste for everything.
7
@ricardosmythe2548 "You don't understand, they could have killed twice as many children if they weren't so professional!" That's your take. And it's insane.
7
@RestlessBs3 Do you... do you think you "naturally selected" the place of your birth?
7
The official end of the British Empire is given as 1997, when Hong Kong was returned to China.
7
Bull. Churchill was one man, a tiny part of a massive, massive picture. The idea that, without that one person, the entire war would have gone the other way is naive and ignorant of history.
7
I've always been bemused by older guys I've worked with making comments about younger female coworkers like "if I wasn't married..." Yeah. 'Cos that's the one thing standing in the way... not the fact you look like shit after 30 years of beer and kebabs, or that you have no manners or respect, etc...
