  2. I'm a retired teacher. In my last school, black kids were less than 5% of the student body but got 90% of the discipline referrals. They said it was racism, but then we dug deeper and found that black students, unlike white, Asian, or Latino students, got multiple verbal warnings before receiving a formal discipline referral--in other words, they were given more chances to correct their behavior than any other demographic and they still refused. And we still got called racist. Even when we had black teachers or staffers disciplining black students, their actions were labeled "racist". Want to know why black students had such bad attitudes? With a few exceptions, black parents would storm over to the school and tell us "YOU CAN'T TELL MY CHILD WHAT TO DO." And we had students who parroted these words: "My mama says I don't have to do anything YOU tell me." Defiance for defiance's sake. It's a self-defeating culture that can't distinguish between genuine oppression and legitimate authority.

  4. Something has definitely changed in the past five years. I'm 60 and was called a racist for the first time in my life three years ago. I served in the USAF and my best friend from my military days is a black guy named Art. Art and I went to college on the GI bill together after we got out of the service. I've worked most of my career in multiracial ("diverse") places like Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, never any problems. And it's not older black folks who are saying this; it's always some kid in his or her twenties. Their explanation is that I was always racist and older black people didn't have the guts to tell me, and that since I'm white, I'm by default racist, because all white people are. In my life, I've seen overt racism recede from our society, and I was happy to see it again. It was always hurtful and divisive and denied good people a chance to prove themselves. But now it's come back, just directed at whites. Thomas Sowell said it best: “Racism does not have a good track record. It's been tried out for a long time and you'd think by now we'd want to put an end to it instead of putting it under new management."

I know some crew members from Mad Max: Fury Road and they said that Charlize had several meltdowns on set, was chronically late (delaying difficult outdoor shootings), and was generally a gigantic pain in the ass--and she played the "I feel threatened by Tom Hardy because I'm just a GIRL!" card. There's a reason why the "Furiosa" movie is being made with a different actress--nobody on that set wants to work with Charlize Theron again.

  10. I was a teacher for thirty years and 95% of the discipline problems from students came in the last five. It goes back to three things: 1. Politicians have thrown discipline codes out the window because the codes are "racist"--teachers and administrators have no power. 2. Parents used to be on our side, now they always take their kids' side, no matter the facts. 3. Kids have been "raised" to be very entitled and disrespectful, and they carry that with them to school. I loved teaching and 95% of my students were wonderful from Year One to Year Thirty. Did you know that 5% of the students cause 95% of the discipline problems in schools? And school staff are powerless to govern them. My advice to anyone considering a teaching career? Don't.

  14. My money's on Charlize in the fight--her mom killed her dad and got away with it, so Charlize has likely inherited that masculine-style aggression and killer instinct. According to Charlize and her mother, Gerda, Charlize's father, Charles, fired first through a locked door, and then Gerda returned fire, killing Charles. South African authorities said it was self-defense. My older sister is a retired cop and she wondered how Charles could've missed all three of his shots at the same range as Gerda's, all of which hit Charles. IF Charles fired first, and was uninjured at the time, at least one of the bullets should've found their target. But a man who has already been shot and is dying might not have very good aim--or perhaps the shots from his gun were fired AFTER he died of his gunshot wounds? The "self-defense" shooting was in 1991, and the South African police accepted Gerda Theron's account of events at face value. But Gerda's and Charlize's story wobbles severely under closer scrutiny.

  26. One of my best friends from HS went into the Marines and became a Kansas highway trooper when he got out. Three people, two men and a woman, ganged up on him while he was waiting for backup. He put both men down on the ground by punching them and then told the woman to get on the ground. She said "You can't hit a woman." and attacked him. He could and he did. But honestly, if there'd been two male cops there instead of a man and a woman, they'd have outmuscled all of those women easily. WOMEN SHOULD NOT BE STREET COPS. THEY'RE ENDANGERING THEIR OWN LIVES AND THOSE OF THEIR PARTNERS. THEY'RE NOT STRONG ENOUGH.

Not only have my family never owned slaves: *Direct ancestors relocated from Massachusetts to Kansas in the 1850s to fight to have Kansas enter the Union as a free state; *Three of my direct ancestors died fighting on the Union side in the Civil War. They volunteered to fight because of their abolitionist beliefs; *My direct ancestors donated their own money and land to freed slaves and help them re-settle as farmers in Kansas after the Civil War.
