Where if you tag someone and they don't immediately go down, they might still get a shot on you. Someone is 500 yards away? I don't care if the 5.56 FMJ is acting like a .22 WMR at that point, I don't think someone with a .22 lodged in their body is going to have an easy time aiming those 500 yard shots at me.

With 5.45 the wounded who survived the fight suffered enough internal damage to die later. Mind that in the Libyan civil war when 5.56 weapons and M855 arrived into the scene, people also started spreading the rumor that the green tip meant poison because they were used to 7.62x39 M43 equivalents.

Some materials indeed get penetrated easier with higher velocity, but often the larger the mass of a bullet the bigger and more dangerous the fragments are, and anyone who's seen the cinder block tests from channels like Paul Harrell knows that often 9mm required more shots to crack a block. There's always a give and take depending on what type of object you're hitting and you won't know beforehand what you're going to hit.

Mind that I'm retrieving this information from the top of my head so it could be out of date - the rounded lug bolts require a matching rounded lug barrel extension so it's not a part you can get that's interchangeable with other AR parts. You can get spare E3 bolts - they're not always easy to come by as said above my comment - but they will not fit your AR. I don't know of any "enhanced" bolt with rounded lugs that offers that option and a matching barrel extension, they could exist so anyone feel free to correct me. The Sig MCX has rounded corners, though. They call it "tapered lug bolt" on their website.

The AR-10 was made for military service, but it was not picked up by many countries so the design was repurposed for the new lightweight caliber rifle that would replace the M14. The AR-15s, before the M16 was even adopted, was sent to the jungle in Southeast Asia where it was praised for its reliability. You're misusing the term tolerance. The problems at the beginning were caused by lack of chroming of parts, which lead to M16s to get pitting in the humid environment. AR-15s designed as Stoner intended did not have this problem. The ammunition was also changed, which was overcharging the gas system and causing the rifle to cycle too fast. All firearms need regular cleaning.
