That's ridiculous. Putting a fence in your backyard is cheaper than paying the costs to raise your neighbour's child.

Adam Sandler doesn't necessarily fit into "trash cinema" because they blow a huge budget on big stars delivering cliche dialogue in a mainstream movie with bottom of the barrel jokes and an artificial/cheap emotionally charged final act. It's pretty much a by-the-numbers, written by committee, check-the-boxes, artificially manufactured big studio shlock. Ironic enjoyment of shlock isn't necessarily the same as "trash cinema".

+Shadhir RM and if I'm not mistaken a couple years ago it was found that the results from half of the studies from the field of psychology could not be replicated, and science kinda hangs on the whole repeat-ability thing. One study finding something is always cool news to hear, but not really anything groundbreaking.

It's also important to consider that the people who don't think are effective include Russian experts, who are clearly unbiased and hack frauds like Pierre Sprey. In real world testing and pilot testimony the F-35 seems to be an excellent machine despite all the software blocks still in place, but the news media (renowned by their knowledge in military hardware) keep going back to Pierre Sprey, the "designer behind the F-16" despite the fact that the F-16 is a good plane because they gave it capabilities Sprey himself thought were useless. The people who think the F-35 isn't needed are people insisting that the US of A should stick to older designs that did well under past conflicts but are outdated in the modern world. People who don't know what it's even meant for.

trickle up YMMV. The less I exercise the more I hang around the house munching on stuff. The more I exercise, the less I feel like eating.

"The implication is usually confirmable, on rare occasions false." but that's bullshit because you can find correlations in almost anything. Like those examples of wildfires and mattress sales, homicide rates and ice cream sales, etc. You can make anything you want correlate and rarely is there a causation involved.

European countries have huge unemployment problems.
10
@saiganesh7502 Cluster munitions were used in Libya?
8
This, but unironically.

@ma27794 "So you support citizens to own rocket launchers" - yes.
6
@austinduke8876 Clearly money is the issue. Those who have more children are too busy to get better jobs. Those who have money have it because they did not have children as early and as often.
6
@austinduke8876 Without fail one of the best predictors of poverty is having children early. Right there you get the hint that having children can make you poor.
6
@easlern I literally live in Europe and my government is left wing even though the center-right party "won" the election. The left just joined the center-left party and pooling their seats together they can form a government.
6
Look, the government is up to the eyes in cronyism, the Affordable Care Act was not a move towards better healthcare, it was the result of politicians being bought off by the businesses that would profit from forcing everyone to enroll in the program and eliminating health insurances that didn't "get with the program". Fairchild probably ran out of friends in Congress, I'd have to look into that situation myself. But are you seriously questioning the "one hand washes the other" mentality? The contracts had nothing to do with the JSF, so that excludes the possibility of handshakes under the table? Come on.

+James Line >"You cannot support mass immigration and a welfare state and increasing wages at the same time" Thanks for admitting that socialism has to be inherently xenophobic, though.
5
You have to understand "the economy" isn't an abstract dollar sign in a computer. It's the combination of all human activity. Changing the economy means poverty. You may be perfectly willing to do it for the cause, but convince billions to live on less resources. People would grab the pitchforks.
5
@ma27794 because it forces you to prove your innocence. That means assumption of guilt.
5
Yes the government should use their police force to restrict more freedoms. Get everyone used to being stopped by cops and being forced to provide papers to justify their travel.
5
***** So you're telling me that for example Richard C Blum, husband of Sen Feinstein, was never benefitted by his wife's activities? You're seriously implying that just because nobody got shitcanned for it, then Lockheed doesn't have their people in congress? Why buy watchdogs? You can look up every conflict of interest for yourself, they're being reported on, everyone is just too busy keeping up with the Kardashians.
4
Yeah but that's really complex. If I ask you for a moderate belief on gun control for example, I am sure I would disagree and be able to explain why your example of "moderate" is actually pretty radical and unreasonable. Or alternatively, look at the 4th Amendment. Both parties have a "moderate" opinion on cybersecurity which is that you can't have both security and privacy so we compromise. But to me, accepting any form of warrantless wiretapping is an extremist position even if you are a moderate. It's binary. My position is on the other extreme, absolutely no wiretapping without due process.

The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. The F-35 is a strike fighter.
3
An important part to remember about the F-117 being shot down is that planners became careless and sent the planes down the same corridor at predictable times. They shot down a F-117 because it had left it's bomb bay open and thus making it easier to lock onto, not to mention that the F-117 pilot did not have a launch warning. It was human complacency that failed that F-117, not the stealth technology itself.

+wesley ogilvie but a drone doesn't do the job just fine, which is why attack aircraft and multi-role fighters are performing the jobs that drones are not sent to do. Not having an airforce is only relevant when the enemy maintains air space superiority. And currently, the US, Russia, Syria, etc are enforcing said superiority over ISIS's skies.
3
@liuring3756 "Learn from China, what they are doing to save people" - by welding them shut in their homes?
3
@Handsome Squidward We knew. It's April 1st. You could have made this video with information available in February.
3
Funny how consistent it is. I always heard it was found that in general conservatives think liberals are "misinformed" or "misguided", but liberals flat out hate conservatives. And no matter what I keep seeing people reinforcing this observation through the years.
3
@uyenst a woman was once murdered by an ex with a restraining order while she was on her waiting period for a gun.
3
@laerin7931 "Licensing doesn't stop one from acquiring guns for self defense." - make the license impossible to get and it will stop people. "Having to wait 3 weeks isn't going to matter" - a woman was once murdered by a man she placed a restraining order on while waiting for the gun. It does matter.
3
The problem is the left/right just forming a coalition to win control of the government even when they don't have enough votes as an individual party and you're back to the two party system.
3
@enlightenyourself8555 Takes more brain power to handle munitions than posting that comment.
3
@parkerbilbro3651 America definitely doesn't need a economically left wing party. Not only would they deliver an easy win to the Republican party by fragmenting the Democratic vote, but true left politics would divide the country even further. Maybe this may come as a shock to you, but the average democrat does not identify with leftist economics not social policies.
3
Ayanle Farah Well, they follow minimum wage laws to follow the law. People with citizenship tend to complain about it, that's the whole point of using undocumented foreigners as they won't report the situation. So yeah, they increase wages when the min wage increases, otherwise they'd be in trouble. All things being equal, I could not in good conscience advocate for the end of minimum wage laws. But in principle, I am against the concept. In a world without minimum wage I'd be all in favour for a workers' union to be able to negotiate corporate policy that set their own minimum wage without government intervention, just like I would support someone who really needs the money and decides to do the same job for less. Right now, the real minimum wage for those people is zero. No job at all.
2
+neeneko you should look at the illegal guns from the Philippines. Not only do they end up in the wrong hands, but a lot of people manufacture them with cheap welders, files, angle grinders and a drill press. This is entry level tooling you can get on a single trip to a hardware store.
2
@alexh349 overpopulation is a myth.
2
Because your leaders want to keep you in the third world. They control the guns so that they can control you.
2
@Jornandreja "We can't even figure out how to safely store the waste we've already produced." - we already know but regulations prevent it! "can't be safely moved." - yes, it can. There are coffins made to move nuclear waste specifically designed to safely transport it. "Solar" - doesn't work at night, weak during winters and in higher latitudes. "wind" - whacks birds to death, causes changes to climate in certain areas by taking energy out of natural winds "geothermal" - can only be done in specific types of rock and has the same problems as fracking "hydro" - you can't build dams everywhere, you're disrupting natural water cycles and even fish reproduction as they need to move upstream
2
@daburnz2 "That is Afghanistan, not the United States." - lol what? "the US government would be able to stop any resistance" - the US territory is an absolute nightmare in a COIN scenario... if you think Afghanistan is bad you should look at a map of the US. "the US police and military is too advanced for a group of citizens to put up a fight" - you mean the same US police that is too cowardly to deal with dogs and mentally ill? "They would be destroyed very quickly and would have no impact against the police." - bro remember when Chris Dorner, a SINGLE MAN, completely humiliated the LAPD during the manhunt? A police department can't even handle one determined individual swiftly, and you think they can handle a million angry residents?
2
@calligansaccount "The US spends more on the military than the next 8 countries COMBINED" - which means that as soon as the US becomes involved in a war and stops being the economic powerhouse, soldiers will stop getting paid really quick. That's like bragging your car has worse gas mileage, it can't last a LeMans. Or like a huge bodybuilder with no cardio who gets tired after two punches.
2
@Green Oscar it warms my heart whenever the anti-gun people expose themselves as bloodthirsty bootlickers who wish for the US govt to nuke its own people.
2
@jgonzalez20 two words: Banqiao Dam One hydroelectric accident killed more people than Fukushima and Chernobyl put together.
2
"Americans know that the constitution can be amended right?" - yeah but mentioning that it can be amended doesn't mean you can act like it already has been. Can it be amended? Sure. Amend it. If it's so easy do it right now.
2
@akashsharda9993 "america is the country that world looks up to" - nah "if that happens than all these countries are forced to take actions" - no, they won't. Unless you go and personally start bombing them into submission countries can't be forced to do anything.
2
@Mr.O-Town "I don’t understand why Americans have a problem with having to take a course and wait 3 weeks to be able to own a firearm." - Because then "Oops, too many people, you're gonna have to wait 5 weeks" and then it becomes 9 weeks, then 15 weeks, then 30 weeks. Deny people their gun rights without needing to write a law banning them. - Who creates the course? Who makes sure it's not impossible to pass? Who pays for the course? What about those who live too far away from training facilities and can't miss days off work?
2
The problem is that other countries are considered high income countries. China fell in the middle income trap.
2
More parties would still end up as a two party system, because the left or the right would form coalitions.
2
@cyagami90 That's just not true. There's people from developed countries that go to the US to do experimental treatments they aren't allowed by law to get in their country yet, people who don't want to wait in their country and decide to pay to get their treatment/surgery sooner, etc. There's private clinics in Canada where people travel from other developed countries simply because they have better procedures, for example that hernia treatment clinic that promises better results and faster recovery than the competition. It's not something exclusive to the US, but there's more research and private practice in the US so people go there.
2
Kanaka Maoli Democrats more centrist? They've been economically neoliberal for some time now and you cannot definitely expect an economically left party to succeed in the American system but they are definitely not "centrist". In fact they are losing support from centrist Democrats.
2
@susannehartl3067 "It will not voilate one section of the constitution, as it will not take away your right to own a weapon." - then why are poll taxes considered to infringe on someone's right to vote? Please try to learn about constitutional law before making statements about what violates or doesn't violate the constitution.
2
Okay by no means am I defending Fox News but CNN, MSNBC, etc are terribad at presenting anything about gun control laws. I don't watch Fox News but I'd assume they're the kind of people who'd actually call in experts in firearms, while the rest just calls butthurt senators and astroturf activist managers.

James Line You should tell the media then, stop this myth that we all want walled up borders.
