Cyberpunk genre: makes predictions based on current trends with a heavy dose of pessimism/cynicism People when those trends stay on course: 😮

@cinnamon-skateboarding5987 Not all cryptos work like Bitcoin. Monero for example has your transactions recorded on the ledger, but the information on the ledger doesn't indentify the wallet.

"PDF File" was a joke going around a decade ago back when I was in college. Now that people are saying stuff like "kermit sewer slide" to keep down the naughty word count it went mainstream.
78
@goingbingo This is just a fatalistic view. If we find a cause and really pin it down, we can fix it.
74
@shupamos7773 cameras without cellphones attached to them existed.
66
Tyler Witkin supposedly played SQ42 start to finish in 2016. Don't ask what happened to that finished build of the game (that nobody ever saw).
61
Didn't that already happen and everything went smoother than expected?
56
Now the EU needs to tell their own countries to quit their antics.
52
@davidfl4 gotta justify that budget increase for next year
41
How does Mark Whalberg fit into all of this?
41
The USMC actually passed their audit. Salute our crayon eaters.
38
And it was called "surfing the web" because you were figuratively riding the wave. Nowadays? It's not surfing, just scrolling.
37
@hypergon-5627 He's not useful in any way.
37
@hharlington7156 Working for Boeing as an engineer isn't "science". As an engineering student myself, we're trained to apply science. Not to be scientists. Nothing wrong with putting a lab coat on and doing a show for children but he was told to keep the costume on and continue serving as a mouthpiece. At one point he overstepped his bounds.
37
I played a cs_ map and the hostages all had models of my family and they had hyper-realistic blood coming out of their eyes.
36
"Your Honor, my client pleads to only doing a little trolling. We move to dismiss all charges."
36
@LambdaTF2 At the same time, an AI will be able to tell if an image was natural or generated by AI.
32
Google became the Bing from the memes back in like 2016.
30
@PhrozenFox "I already know all my devices record everything I say" - it was the apathy that ushered in the concept in the first place
26
@praiseallah5591 Let's say he is innocent. He still told people he did it. He might not be a criminal, but he told people crime is cool.
25
@OneHunnitNoCapStannitOnBidnisz "sole" would mean "only" in this case. "Soul intention" would be a worst case Ontario type of situation. A real doggy dog world.
25
@bangerxshane How does holding up innocent people secure the rights of others? There's also no such thing as the right to feel safe, someone with a phobia of flying will never feel safe in an airplane until that fear is addressed. The right to feel safe is a nonsensical proposition when people can be unreasonable and illogical about their feelings and fears. Does someone afraid of terrorism have the right to demand middle eastern looking men to be kicked out of the flight?
24
@Conraf No, it's because nothing's optimized anymore.
23
Directed by M. Night Shayamalan
22
@frozendude707 I hate the future
22
@PunishedRalph Who was a writer for Million Dollar Extreme and even appeared in one skit.
22
@AnythingForSouls ArmA 3 had a ballistics system in like 2013. Nowadays script kiddies in Unity can make a ballistics system.
22
I'm 99% sure it was a joke on tumblr first and the video was made expanding on the joke.
22
@SquaresToOvals Pretty sure back in the 40s people didn't say nice things about the victims in Germany.
21
They could get it to work reliably. The problem is that like everything else in CA it's completely mismanaged.
21
@lxix5968 So skip the game?
20
BO2 was great. But it shouldn't hold the series back.
20
@joescannoli7660 Trimming is more convinient, especially since I do torso and legs too. I just gotta look presentable in thai shorts, no need for a close shave.
20
@dieu1403 they'd just waste all their resources "liberating" normal pets from normal homes and then euthanizing them because PETA insists on being the bad guy on almost every situation they get involved in.
18
One man who defected to the South asked to go back.
18
@bdhale34 the Geneva convention isn't relevant because they're not at war. The relevant stuff would be labor laws and how they intersect with a gameshow/challenge. You can't force a person to work 48 hours straight but you can pay someone to go through sleep deprivation for studies and whatnot.
16
@yesbabelon Even if they explained the risks they'd be found liable. You can't put someone at risk as a condition to win the challenge. If I expain the danger it doesn't remove the liability if I challenge you to run through a hall of running chainsaws stuck to the floor and walls. Sleep deprivation is bad for your health and shouldn't have been part of the challenge.
16
@rayhimmel7167 Several countries have both nukes and healthcare.
16
@filthyweeb3912 limo driver went a hundred times... because he was hired to drive. Get the jist?
15
The normal pills.
15
@zlatkojerkovic9456 it's not about the money but how he got people into the biz
15
@BanditLeader Nothing stopped. Bitcoin was just "secure" through obscurity.
14
NFTs of his dumps, more like.
14
@ileutur6863 First, no. The soviet state literally used mental illness as a way to control dissent. You're against the government? Comrade, you should get checked out. Second, anything that's no more intrusive than driver's ed is useless. People get licenses and then drive drunk anyway.
14
@varkr2066 Gatekeeping is good. It keeps the creeps away.
14
Finally some ordinary gaming content
13
As someone living outside the US, this kind of problem is nearly unsolvable. They end up in the streets.
13
@Tricendo I didn't watch the original video so I don't know if it was explained. He didn't grab the slide on the return, he punched the slide out of battery with his chest and used his hand to prevent it from returning forward. When you take the slide out of battery the trigger becomes unable to interact with the sear. This is why people are usually taught weapon retention and not pressing pistols against an opponent, because the spring may not even close the slide by itself and you'd need to force the slide forward to get it to fire.

If I'm paying a fee might as well hire an actual tutor.
