@kaitoshinichi Yeah... I thought I was a lazy student in Chemistry but at least I managed to grasp the basics that there are 118 elements lol.
18
@khoontan-l2c Because Tritium is the most concerning one. The rest are fine. Also there are only 118 elements in the world that we know of, only 37 of those are radioactive. Stop spreading nonsense.

Oh, when did the UN and US complain about China dumping nuclear waste water into the ocean? I did not see that please link me the source,
10
It’s embarrassing for the Iraqi government that they cannot guarantee the safety of foreign embassies on their territory. Probably not an ideal country for business if the government cannot even guarantee safety of embassies.
8
@hanshengz4291 I was responding to Terrytang his message indicated the UN and the US had complained about China releasing nuclear waste water and they had double standards not doing the same to Japan so I just asked him to tell me when the UN and the US complained about China releasing nuclear waste water. I am not speaking for anyone, perhaps you should improve your reading comprehension before making assumptions. Have a nice day.
5
Obviously they are, they don't like the occupiers of their territory.
4
Tritium has a 12.33 year half-time. The longer they take to release it the less it will be.
4
@Lamin_G I don't need a lawyer to tell me what the IAEA report says, it's readily available on their website and it's in English - I have read it myself. On the very first page it says: the effects on the environment and people are expected to be negligible. I don't doubt Mr. Gao's intelligence it's just if there is something wrong with my body I go to the hospital to see a doctor, not a plumber. My point is his profession doesn't invalidate his claims but at the end of the day he is a lawyer discussing nuclear science, I would have liked to see a nuclear scientist as a guest talking about the risk. I would have expected more scientists to step forward and say it's not safe, not just Chinese scientists but surely if this is such dangerous thing there would be scientists from all over the world speaking out. This is not even making the news outside of Asia.
3
@ddzhou3630 just because you are against it doesn't mean it's fine spreading false information. If you think it's a bad thing you can explain it using facts that are real instead of making things up so it sounds more scary.
3
@jutswheezie Well if the US did not care they would not be the top UN donor by miles. But perhaps you are right - maybe it's time the US stopped caring and withdrew all funding.
3
There is 8400g of Tritium in the Pacific ocean, there is 3g Tritium in the Fukushima wastewater. If you are concerned about it you should never have fed seafood to your son in the first place.
3
Why would I respect the faith that says I am an infidel for not sharing it's belief?
3
@TagmatonDomestikon Solely responsible for both world wars? Did you miss history class how the first world war started?
3
Science is never 100% sure of anything, as new research develops new thoughts are adapted and old ones discarded. The world used to be flat now it's not, science changes all the time.
2
@shinkouhai919 There is 8400g Tritium in the pacific Ocean and there is less than 3g Tritium in the wastewater at Fukushima. Also it will be released gradually over 30 years and tritium has a half-life of 12.33 years. These are all facts that you can easily find yourself online, I totally respect and understand people are worried but 3g of tritium in a pacific ocean that already has 8400g over 30 years doesn't sound like a big difference to me. But hey I am just a random guy on the internet and not a scientist.
2
@duncankowable That's a lot of keywords man I am not sure I can remember all of them. The only keywords I remembered from reading the report was "discharge will have a negligible impact on people and the environment." That was all I was interested in.
2
@Lamin_G I guess we see what we want to see, I personally like Terran don't understand why there was a lawyer there, I suppose he was supposed to argue to legality of the whole situation but he ended up discussing the science and he clearly had not much to input, wasting time talking about Carbon-14. Even High schoolers know the human body contains carbon-14 and is naturally occurrent in all agricultural products. Perhaps for you this was a move of brilliance for me it was pointless, anyone that has studied Chemistry knows C-14 is not a concern here, Tritium is the serious and harmful element that we need to be careful about.
2
@golahacodbixiyahaxortaah8843 Yeah by the way this is going it will be demolished, perhaps that's for the best.
2
Because they don't want to pay - they like to talk about support but they love their money more than than their Muslim brothers.
2
@eugenetong8749 It's their fishing industry that will suffer reputational and economical damage, Chinese people have boycotted Japanese product at one time or another they are used to it, not the first time.
2
He retired from politics after he lost his re-election.
2
Oh you guys have been persecuting religious minorities for centuries and now you want us to care about other people treating you bad?
2
It sounds like it's time for you to step up, fill the void.
2
So basically the whole world except China then lol?
2
I don't like taxes but as a taxpayer I can confidently say I am proud to be a supporter of funding Himars systems in Ukraine.
2
Well said, I totally agree. Why do we have to send funds to people that hate our guts?
2
So let me get this straight, the nations that cannot even beat Israel that they outnumber 1000 to 1 is going to take on Europe? Let's see how that goes LOL.
2
Woah relax bud going from killing a terrorist to attacking the UN? That's quite a few steps between those two, relax won't happen. This is just every day kind of stuff down in the Middle East. Terrorists and counter-terrorists playing cat and mouse game.
2
So I should respect a holy book that claims I as a non-believer is an infidel? Nah sorry, respect is earned.
2
Yes it's true they have no more space to store it and none of their neighbours wants to help them store more or provide funds to build new storage facilities and with IAEA saying it's safe the option to release it into the ocean makes most sense to them I guess.
2
Sources please, the Korean government has said it's okay, so has Australia. Which countries are you talking about. China, yes but that's only one.
2
@mailhanyi He mentioned countries not individuals, there are concerned individuals everywhere that doesn't mean the country disagrees. Just because there were protests by individuals in Korea doesn't mean that Korea as a country disagrees. In fact the Korean government has stated Korea's support of the release. If you are going to claim a country disagrees then I'd expect to see an official statement from the government of said country condemning the move. So far I've seen the Chinese government making such statements but that's it. Perhaps it's a matter of definition but I do find it misleading when you claim a country is against it when said country's government has officially stated support. There will always be individual concern of course I am not saying all Koreans are cool with it but as a country their official stance is dictated by their government and they have said they are cool with it.
2
@fluseint.1303 Georgia? Chechnya? Ukraine? Moldova?
2
I think you are overthinking it, he is talking about China because the Chinese government has condemned Japan for how they release the wastewater. The Korean public is not happy but the Korean government supports Japan's action. So far there are only two national governments that has said this is bad and that is China and Russia. Other countries some of the population is unhappy but the government has not made such statements.
2
Didn't the woman say China and Korea also release radioactive wastewater into the ocean, shall every Korean and Chinese drink that water too then? Maybe they can all do it together?
2
@edward3190 The IAEA has said they have people there on site to monitor the release, there is no reason to believe they don't have access to monitor and test the waters themselves.
1
Next tiktok trend for sure
1
Yes they took the life support away from Gaza, hopefully the Arab nations can help their brothers and sisters instead of relying on the West which they hate so much.
1
How can IAEA be sure about something they have never experienced? Because Tritium has been released into the ocean for a long time. There is 8400g of Tritium in the pacific ocean already and less than 3g in Fukushima wasterwater. Did you even listen to the facts presented or did you just click the video to argue online?
1
@wwbren It does, the nuclear watch dog with the most prominent experts and scientists in the field will be on site to make sure everything is done correctly. Would you rather we let 5 monkeys be in charge of it instead? Or maybe you are the kind of person that goes to the Zoo when you need a surgery? If they are going to do it might as well do it correctly and have a third party present.
1
the IAEA is a part of the UN, they have no authority. Did you think Putin stopped his invasion of Ukraine when the UN said stop? The UN cannot really do much, they can say what they like and don't like but that's about it.
1
@Ace-zm4tb I suppose it comes down to trust then, you apparently claim the Japanese government are not well known for how they deal with things. I don't share that opinion, where I am from we have no problem with the Japanese, sure they did horrible things in WW2 but so did the Germans and we get along with them just fine. I do however have the experience living in China for extended periods of time so I do know where that sentiment comes from. I am not Chinese though so I don't share that resentment or distrust. Sure the government could have covered something up, nothing is impossible but the Japanese are the first line of people to get exposed to the consequences so I doubt it. Maybe I am in the minority but I don't find their solution to dump it into the ocean weird at all, the IAEA has set protocols for how to safely discharge nuclear waste water into the ocean for a reason, because it's common practice for nations with nuclear powerplants. I would agree I would find it odd if Japan were the first nation in history to do so but truth is it's already common practice to dump nuclear wastewater into the ocean, hence why there is already 8400g of Tritium in the pacific ocean because the nations around the ocean have been dumping it already for decades. Is there a possibility there are other substances present? Sure, but that is also a possibility for every case of every nation doing so and we have been allowing them to do so for decades. Also I don't believe the IAEA would allow it should they find a problem with it, they are on-site 24/7 monitoring the release if they have no issues with it then I am assuming it's all safe and in good order just like every other nation doing the same with their Nuclear wastewater.
1
@wenerjy What do you mean what about the 300.000 tons released from the initial Fukushima failure? You mean the natural disaster? Who shall I blame, god?
1
They also said Japan is following all safety protocols and it's safe, in the same report might I add.
1
Trust me most people will stop consuming as much "sea products" from that ocean, no matter who fishes them. The water is shared, just because the fisherman catching the fish is not Japanese doesn't mean the fish is "clean".
1
@toni-xz6dd We have ethics, morality and humanity. That's why we side against Hamas the terrorist org. If you want to support them go send them a donation.
1
Lol nuke someone for burning paper LOL
1
depends who you ask, ask a muslim it's idf ask a non muslim its Hamas
1
Of course, they do it all the time. It won't be the first time they boycott Japanese products.
1
Well at least they were nuclear experts and not lawyers like the other guy LOL.
