Unbelievable. This should be considered neo-slavery. This is what happens when unregulated, corporate capitalism runs wild.
160
How does that even make sense? Shouldn't a "patriotic duty" be a right? Oh, well. I have family members who think just like your dad, so I feel you.
58
It's also not possible when they keep voting for the same party; which literally exists to keep the working class poor and enrich only the owner class, for 75+ years with the exception of one guy one time.
53
@jeremymizer8958 If only being stupid hurt as much as being smart, huh? Our relatives would actually have a motivation to educate themselves.
38
No, cápìtàlí$m does !!!
35
All taxes do. Europeans fund research as well. The difference is the European countries have some type of universal healthcare for their citizens, but the US doesn't. The US has middle men robbing the patients blind.
26
Everything beyond a billion needs to be taxed 100%. They won the game and they can get a medal. The rest of us still need to work a job just so we can afford basic needs.
26
@johnfrank6112 "but she is working for the wrong company": Then where is she supposed to work?
24
I hope you're right.
23
Don't be a corporate simp. They have been repeatedly raising the rent since the 1980s for no reason at all.
19
The "psychopathic" part is redundant. Billionaires and trillionaires are by definition both psychopathic and sociopatic. Most are even narcissist. They have to be, otherwise they wouldn't be so rich.
14
@discipleofschaub : Lmao, that's rich... You clearly bave no idea of all the private things of us all that Peter Thiel isexposing to private companies, the CIA, the NSA and so many others. He's a complete hypocrite and you and many other should stop simping for him.
9
True. This is less than pocket change for corporations.
9
You are allowed. You just don't have any power. Same thing for unions and income negotiations.
8
Lol, all of the bots make more sense than you, @darlene.
7
@shadowdragon-e7m "to give them soul power": What is "soul power"? Sounds spiritual. Did you perhaps mean to say "sole power"?
7
"He created a car company with [...]": He didn't create anything. You need to do proper research. He bought Tesla, after the OG owners already designed cars and then he forced them out via contracts and ever since he has called himself the "inventor / creator", which is simply not true.
7
Because for the last 40 years, none of the politicians after him did anything to help the American people. No picies, just platitudes.
6
It sucked before as well. Just a little less than now.
6
On a planet with limited resources, greed is also "the desire for more".
6
We need to get rid of cápítàlì$m.
6
@PacmanBrunner "Aren't u so tech forward": Lol, this has nothing to do with tech and everything to do with Americans being extremely loyal to corporations and not questioning anything in the hope that they'll one day reach the final line of the rags-to-riches path called the American dream.
6
Not just aerospace. Also space travel, deep sea travel, and land travel. Business people in power are never good for people, health, safety, the environment and most of the time not even for the economy.
6
Probably because fixing is always more expensive than buying new stuff. It's just one failure of cápitàli$m.
6
@Planner38 "the loss of private property and the imposition of socialism": No, it's not. Socialism values personal property and a roof over everyone's head IS PERSONAL PROPERTY. Private property doesn't mean what you think it does. Learn the difference! Besides, the fact that you believe you own anything under cápítàlì$m is ironic. You don't own sht and everything can and will be taken from you.
5
You can fix single issues, when the entire system is the problem. We need to get rid of the system.
5
@PacmanBrunner "You live in such a superior nation and culture!": Do you have anything relevant to add to this conversation other than your passive aggressive responses, which are but symptoms of your maddening individual failures that you are trying to hide with sarcasm?
5
At the very least a simple thing to change would be to stop painting the trucks black. If they were painted white, they would give off more heat.
4
@cbryce9243 You really lack reading comprehension. I literally wrote "At the very least" at the beginning of my comment. I never claimed that was enough. And still, that would at least reduce inside temps for about 20-40°F. At least the drivers wouldn't be burning themselves anymore while trying to get to the right package/delivery.
4
"their own secondary market to re-sell tickets and collect even more fees": Not really. Private individuals, who don't plan on going to a concert or a sports match, do the same thing: They try to buy as many tickets firsthand as possible (because they are still cheap), just to resell them later at outrageous prices.
4
@DaverSomethingSomething @DaverSomethingSomething No such thing as "unfettered capitalism": This is just capitali$m.
4
I never use delivery system. If I order something, I'm planning on getting to the restaurants myself. Not to toot my own horn, but I just think the delivery service is degrading workers by creating low wage jobs. It would be better if workers were paid more and got better jobs that aren't slightly dangerous and are bad for the climate.
4
@backcountyrpilot : All of the things you just mentioned were created by scientists(usually in colleges and universities), not by businesses.
4
The problem is capitalism. As long as we the people tolerate living under it, our corporate overlords will find new ways to weasle around the law to extract as much wealth and work from their workers as they can. Workers need to own the means of production!
4
Well, it's too late for that and the properties they already own are not going to just be handed over to the people.
4
@bradatherton9369 "not always.": I love how you are trying to prove my wrong, but even you have to admit the truth. Thanks for proving me right. "Why the hyperbolic statement?": It's not hyperbolic at all. It's literally a feature of this system. Have you ever tried to buy replacement parts for Iphones? Check the prices. You'll see that a new phone is cheaper than the repair (don't forget the worker doing the repair, because you are legally not allowed to fix it yourself. If you fix it yourself you can be held accountable for a crime) "If you do then it’s obvious you’ve never fixed anything": Gosh, you know nothing about the military. You clearly think that fixing something means crocheting or some weak @ss sht. What was the biggest you ever fixed and how did you do it? Keep in mind that is has to be a machine / a technology, because that's what the military uses.
4
@scatto365 Exactly, @scatto365 . If only more people understood that.
3
Argentina is currently having a stroke.
3
It's all about control. The owner class needs to keep us workers ensl@ved, otherwise their entire gig economy / con / scam falls apart.
3
The US is a third world country with a Gucci belt.
3
"Insurers" (can't even call them that) practising medicine without a license...
3
@carterburpee8499 "the Biden administration did block multiple mining developments": Mining is also bad for the environment. Alaska needs to look into renewables.
3
@K4R3N "it's the best system we have": Only for the elite... "ust needs some adjustments and corrections": We've been trying that for hundreds of years now. How long until we the working class can expect it to work the way you think would be best?
3
Yes, the sht, the pss and the bills sure are trickling down.
3
@jennieshepherd5845 "but not EVERY president cut taxes for billionaires.": The problem is that most POTUSs also didn't stop the tax breaks for them, either.
3
Exactly. Elon learned well from his father.
3
The club is getting smaller and smaller.
3
Only in the US, though. In Europe, you can get it for free.
3
@doomsday : No, we need all of those three AND age limits. Nobody over 70 should be allowed anywhere near a public office.
3
They should apply to be POTUS instead or some other gov't job. Apparently those are the only kinds of positions someone with a record can fill.
