What evidence of god exists? Find some that isn't based on people's feelings or filling in gaps of knowledge with imaginary ideas. Again, I'm talking about proof not your feelings about looking at waterfalls or rainbows.

  4. ekool.445 Evolution is a fact. There's no discussion that it's not among people who actually understand the science. And there is no difference between micro-evolution and macro-evolution. They are the same process. They are both just evolution.

  5. Mephistahpheles I have never blindly accepted evolution as truth. I was pretty much taught creationism growing up and thought it was true until I actually learned what evolution is, took biology classes and read up on it. Once you've actually studied it you're not "blindly accepting" it.

  6. Mephistahpheles What actual evidence have any of your classes presented for creationism? That science doesn't presently know something doesn't mean that it had to have been a god that did it. Until there is actually evidence to show the only honest answer is "I don't know." Faith is not an answer. Faith is believing things when there is no reason to believe it.

  8. ekool.445 Evolution does not deal at all with the origin of the universe or the origin of life. And it's not ridiculous that people believe in a god, there's just no evidence of it whatsoever while there is abundant evidence of evolution.

  9. Mephistahpheles No. There is fossil evidence and we have actually observed evolution. We has watched insects and other animals evolve over time. There is actual data to show how the evolutionary process works.  I do not believe there is a god because there has never been any compelling evidence to prove there is. You can't look at the fact that we don't know for sure how the universe was created or life first came to be and say "it must have been a god". Science needs better evidence than that. But, also, if evolution were suddenly shown not to be true that wouldn't prove the existence of a god. I don't care what you believe as long as you're not using it to enact policy. Evolution wasn't what made me question the existence of god and disproving it (which you wouldn't be able to) would not mean your god exists.

I think it's wrong to include "atheism" as a religion ( which I guess he doesn't specifically do) because atheism only says that one doesn't believe in god, there is no dogma explicit to atheism beyond that so you will find any number of beliefs or opinions that don't specifically relate to atheism but can be rational or irrational depending on the atheist. There are atheists who won't accept anything for which there is no empirical evidence but there are atheists who believe in ghosts or alien abductions.

  19. I think there is a huge threat from radical Islam--but we gay people shouldn't be fooled into sacrificing the rights we have gained because of fear of Muslims. Trump has completely surrounded himself with anti-gay politicians, pundits and preachers.

  50. Hi sexual orientation is a part of his identity. He would not be who he is now if he wasn't gay. All of those things you pointed out are a part of people's identities and while it's great that you haven't had to deal with anything like that I don't know why you think it's a virtue to not talk about it. Those things are not unimportant. They are not the sum total of a person but they are incredibly important and if you think they're not you're just not paying attention.
