If the objective was to have a semi-functional government in the country, so that terrorists organizations can't launch attacks from Afghanistan, then the objective was highly successful under Obama. Under Biden, Al Qaeda and ISIS-K are freed from the prisons and free to reestablish themselves in the country.

The ones sent to prison in China also don't tend to live into old age due to the Communist preferring to withhold medical care. I don't think anyone should follow the "justice" system of China where "criminals" are either murdered by the state or too scared to be murdered by the state.

Russia literally invaded Ukraine to prevent a trade deal with the EU, because Russia doesn't want competitors in it's backyard.
