Chinese transparency laws are so poor that investing is incredibly risky because there are dozens of Chinese Enrons are out there. The Alibaba Group was winning until the CCP cracked down on them for outperforming the state. Chinese authoritarianism and corruption makes investing in the Chinese market very risky. In addition to the risk, the Chinese underperforms compared to the rest of the Chinese economy. This is likely due to state ownership making companies spend money on things that benefit the CCP instead of investing in things that make the company more profitable.

Meanwhile, when Georgia's, Moldova's, and Ukraine's democratically elected governments opposed Russia, they became occupied by Russia troops. Obviously, your only justification for Russian aggression is based on conspiracies that could be debunked by anyone with common sense.

Economists use satellite images of pollution as more accurate indicator of GDP in China than the numbers coming from the Communist government. China won't even release the death count of national disasters to cover up miss management. So no, I don't trust any of numbers coming out of China about their prison population or their concentration camps.

Few countries prefer to have Chinese yen as a reserve currency, because there is little faith in the long term stability of the currency compared to wealthy democracies. This is because there are no checks on the power of a Chinese autocratic to destabilize the currency with things like capital controls and intentionally trying to devalue it. The key to the dollar's high demand is trust in its stability.

  44.  @u.2b215  Dictatorships can't have rule of law, because the law is meaningless when the dictatorship controls the courts, makes the laws, and only enforces the one that benefit himself. You can disagree with this point, but investors believe this. It is the reason why investors rarely involve themselves with autocrats and when they due they require the businesses in those countries to pay an extra risk premium to them.

  50.  @charonboat6394  Poland's Law and Justice party doesn't even respect Poland's constitution, so it is hypocritical to for them to say that EU is overstepping by asking Poland to follow the treaty obligation (and a requirement for any functioning democracy) to have judicial independence. If Poland and Hungary has such an issue with their treaty obligations, then they can Brexit.
