Due to extreme levels of corruption from the top down, Russia can't compete economically with the EU nations, so Putin uses violence to try to prevent these countries from making trade deals. Putin doesn't like NATO, because it prevents him using violence to keep countries subservient to him.

However, if the demand was high, but it is difficult to supply the market, then this will drive up the price more than a place with a porous border like America. Of course, this type of logical thinking might be over the head of a person like you, who sees the world through bigoted stereotypes instead of facts and common sense.

Obviously, the risk of getting caught by sneaking drugs by plane and boat to Europe is more risky (and expensive) than moving it across the 3,145 kilometers US-Mexico border. This means European don't have to worry as much about cheap drugs flooding their markets.

These are all developed economies with sizable foreign investment, because there is still plenty of growth opportunities, and investment risk is reduced due to poltical stability and rule of law. Japan's only obstacle from receiving the same investments is xenophobic policies.

The reserve currency's only benefit to the economy is that it increases purchasing power and it allows government caused inflation to be shared globally. This is not a guarantee of growth (just look at the Carter administration). Foreigners like to invest in America, because our stocks are transparent and high performing. The value of having a reserve currency has been exaggerated by politicians who want create huge deficits while lying that it will not a have a negative effect on the economy.
