  1. hey can I just say one thing that this documentary never showed, he was a horrible stepfather who beat the boys and abused us girls, that’s all I gotta say about him, he’s dead to us because someone who can take a child’s innocence away shouldn’t be worth anything. Oh and I’m one of the little girls in this movie. I’m not afraid of him anymore, he also served his time but I think they should of locked him up and threw away the key

  3.  @Bigbaymonstermare  we’re doing good, Richard also known as Dickie now, he’s a Chef in Orillia, kaitlynn has a daughter and she is in between careers at the moment, Alex.. well long story short he just passed away this month due to a year long battle to cancer, me I’m in northern Ontario.. married, 2 children, Zak is a chef out in Newfoundland and breanna lives in Orillia with her boyfriend and 2 children. Our mother lives in Northern Ontario, currently she is doing well too.

  8.  @darrenchilds8980  lol I need to say that the children who grow up poor don’t always stay poor, I’m the 4th child in that movie and I’m not poor, in fact I have so much more then what my mom had while I was growing up.. heck I’m also able to vacation and do stuff for my children that I never had, but I’m not mad at my mother for how we were raised, it’s not her fault, it could of been the poor of excuse men that she had to deal with as well including Karl!

  11.  @america1403  she isn’t wrong, I am one of the children, my brother does have cancer he’s currently with stage 4 cancer and multiple cancers. Kaitlynn was working for the school board for being a motivational speaker she has a daughter as well, Richard (Dickie) is a chef in Orillia, Alex is northern Ontario he’s the one currently dieing, Zak lives in Newfoundland, breanna lives in orillia with her 2 children and boyfriend, and myself I live in northern Ontario with my husband and 2 kids. Our mother also lives in Northern Ontario but has a different name.

  15. I was able to break the cycle with my children, I’m the fourth child in this documentary and I have everything for my children, I’m married, we have a home, and we have a bunch of outdoor toys! My kids are spoiled because I wasn’t able to be and I don’t want my children to be left without.

  21.  @ss-zz6ii  I’m not sure if it’s irresponsible, in life you have many obstacles and learning curves, you never know maybe the children needed to see this and it makes them better people for it. I don’t know but it’s a learning thing for everyone, she did a good job at what she was able to do at the time.

  23. It was years before 2016 she hasn’t had a relationship with our mother but for the past 5 years she has been talking and getting along with her. Kaitlynn was going through some hardships herself but she’s becoming clean and more aware of what’s going on around her now.. she is doing much better.

I’ll be honest and never did write anything about Karl, but he actually ruined our lives he took the innocence of me an my sisters and abuse us all, it was after the documentary when my mom got a job at the casino working nights he would do his abusing then. It wasn’t till our highschool years it all then came out, we went to court and he got put away for his crimes… he’s out now and who knows what he’s up too, but as a childhood memory of that man he was Horrible!😢

  27.  @dreaminlayers  he’s 32 with his cancer that movie was made over 20 years ago, my brother seems to still have a good sense of humour about his cancer and knowing he doesn’t have much time left.. it’s multiple cancers he has.

Not that it’s any of your business but it’s not as bad as it sounds, my mom was with him for only a year, then his son and I started to date, been with him half my life now, I was 15 when I got with him I’m now 30 🙂 It’s not like we’re actually related.

  38. Probably not, we're all grown up and all in our 30's now. Unfortunately my brother Alex passed away back in June 2023. But other than that we are all sorta scattered everywhere with families of our own... Our mother is living a good life in Northern Ontario now. By the way I'm one of the kids from this documentary, this is my update for you lol

  40. We were all young and our career choices were just that- dreams! But I’m now able to work in a school so I feel fortunate for that! 😊 Because in the movie I said I wanted to be a teacher 😅

  49.  @constantvanlife  I like to think that I am.. but as for my siblings I can't really say for them. Richard is a chef southern Ontario Kaitlynn lives in northern Ontario Myself I'm working with children for the school board, I have a family and I like to say we're doing well. Zak and breanna live out East (Newfoundland) Zak is also a chef and has a family of his own, Breanna also has a family of her own. We are all grown up now and in our 30s thriving Our mother is in Northern Ontario and as for Karl well we haven't heard much from him after he was sentenced to 6yrs in jail for assaulting us children (hes out now and not sure where he is nor do I care where he is) That sums it up. If you want to look at some of our social media to see where we all are and how were doing.   50.  @LadyWebz  wow I’m sorry for not seeing this comment sooner, but we’re doing alright.. my mom lives in northern Ontario happy with someone. Richard (Dickie he goes by now) is a chef in orillia, kaitlynn she is in between jobs at the moment and she has a 11 year old daughter, Alex- well he just passed away from a years battle with Cancer, he actually died June 16th and my heart just breaks for him because he was only 32 and he’s my brother and I miss him so much, but me I’m doing good for myself, I’m married, I have 2 children, boy and girl and I count myself lucky I work at there school, and I get to work with my kids and get paid lol 😂 And as for Zak he’s in Newfoundland working as a chef as well, he’s out there with his girlfriend and they have a baby on the way, and breanna she’s living in Orillia with her boyfriend and her 2 daughters. Sorry it took so long to respond as I just didn’t get this notification or something.
