This car picks up speed so rapidly that it would be scary to drive it without seeing the speedometer because you could end up with insane speeds to familiar corners. For example, not many cars can do ~270 km/h to the first compression on tourist lap around 7:15.

5:10 I cannot understand running this kind of car without an air filter for the engine but if you want to make the engine loose and increase oil consumption, it sure increases intake noises.

He didn't recoginize Misha so he goes with the basic instructions. And the reason for those instructions is that somebody previously failed to stay on the right while driving a slow car and caused additional incident.
87
The car went so smoothly around the corners that it took me a while to notice that the speedo was actually in MPH instead of km/h.
83
This is a good reminder for everybody tuning their cars: make sure all your bushings, including stabilizers and dogbones (if your car has those) are perfectly good. It doesn't make any sense to invest on better springs and shocks if any of the bushings are bad.
76
Yeah, and you don't need to worry about overheating either because the engine doesn't have enough power to boil the water.
64
This really shows how good F1 drivers are. He used every millimeter of the track and seemed to be in control all the time. And in typical F1 driver style he brakes sooner before corners and goes to accelerator much earlier than many people.

This message deserves to be pinned!

Nürburgring doesn't have true competition so the fact that they don't hike prices more in this monopoly situation is actually pretty nice. It would be nice to have cheaper prices that that's not required. The only issue I have is only having the option to get a single lap ticket vs full season pass. How about single weekend unlimited laps pass or single week unlimited laps pass?
36
Really nice car and I definitely liked the "seriously used" looks. Much more interesting than the polished paint jobs this kind of cars usually have. With improved suspension it will be great!
36
I love that you focused on cornering first and increase engine power only after getting the basics right! Way too many try to increase engine power first and never get proper cornering.
33
I was about to write about the same thing. That VW Scirocco with the Nürnburgring sticker in the rear seemed like it got traffic compared to this car. In reality it was accelerating with full throttle.
33
If you watch the first incident around 6:00, you'll notice that RPM wasn't even 6000 when it failed. I would guess some wiring is a bit loose and with G-forces combined with suspension shock, some electronics gets unhappy. If you scan the control units, you'll probably find which part is have intermittent short to ground or open circuit.
29
13:23 The approach to foxhole looks insane with this dim lights! Hopefully you could see more while driving the car.
23
4:53 The way this car picks up speed around 250 km/h shows that 300 km/h is not even close the limit but the traction and the length of the straight are getting the limiting factor really fast.
22
Whatever tuner you used for that "500 hp" initial state should be avoided like plague. I wouldn't drive even 100 hp engine with an incorrectly adjusted turbo actuator.
19
And holding the steering stable while going over all those bumps on the track! Normally gravity pulls your both hands with the same force but in opposite rotation which cancels out. This time it's all gravity vs muscle.
17
@ArosaMike The problem is that if you make it totally safe in car like this, you'll end up with really boring videos. The behavior of that driver was really surprising because he was going so slowly there was absolutely no reason to cut the corner like that. Any rustbox could have easily done the corner driving on the right.
16
... and also get pizza and tiramisu for everybody and celebrate the P3 on the same day.
15
The owner seemed to think "man, I really need to learn to drive like this" in every corner.
13
We need a followup video for this one. Was the brake fluid bad or too low, or what happened? It's definitely not expected to fully lose the brakes even when heated up. In addition, the warning for "assist for low brake performance" come up with THE FIRST TIME you applied heavy braking at 5:35 so it was definitely caused by something else but heating up.
10
I guess he considers himself a racecar driver once racing makes majority of his income. Before that he's a vlogger that just doesn't have to pay for driving a race car.
10
That car was very fast for having "only" 260 hp. Can somebody explain what happened 4:24? It sounded like DSG released the clutch to change gears but then engaged the same gear again?

It seems that this speedometer runs at 20-25 fps which is obviously much better than 1-2 fps speedometers for many other car manufacturers. I think some manufacturers think that the speedometer is hard to read if the numbers change fast but you can easily keep the numbers readable with fast enough display (you need maybe 20 ms pixel response time or less for a crisp 25 fps display so that's should be easily doable even in cold temperatures with a good LCD and obviously OLED would be always fast enough). I find slow speedometer response hard to use even for normal passanger cars if you try to accurately match the highest allowed speed on road. I think using tabular font for the numbers would have been even better. For example, when speed went from 172 to 171 the number 7 shifted a bit towards to right because "2" was taking more space than "1". Some fonts have very nice numbers with regular widths and do not require such shifts. And I loved the tachometer implementation even more here.

@someguyprobably It's more like +1 dB increase means amplitude of sound waves have ~26% more power. That means that the sound power is doubled for every 3 dB (if you run two cars side by side, the sound is +3 dB above the single car sound output) and humans usually interpret +6 dB as twice as loud. This is why people damage their hearing with too loud music.
8
@jeeewhyyypheee Maybe this car only allows taking traction control off but never the stability control?
7
Misha must have driven pretty many cars with broken clutch to be ready to do that so fast. I would have figured out the same maybe 10 seconds slower.
7
It's also worth mentioning that many cars with drive-by-wire accelerator pedal have stock configuration to ignore accelerator pedal if pressed at the same time with brake pedal. This is designed for fault safety in case the accelerator pedal position sensor fails floored, you can always get the car to idle simply pressing the brake pedal. For this kind of setup, left foot braking doesn't work because every time you touch the brake, the accelerator pedal stops working until you fully lift it and then re-press it.
7
@ArosaMike I totally agree that doing this kind of driving during TF is definitely a big risk. However, Misha has been doing thousands of laps and as far as I know, has grand total of 2 crashes. And at least one of those crashes was caused by a technical failure. Seems pretty good track record for me when it cames to accidents per kilometer while driving fast, so Misha seems to have pretty acceptable risk level for his skills. No matter how you drive, once you go above 200 km/h, the driving is no longer totally safe on the ring.
7
That engine runs really nice for having over 300 000 km on the clock already!
6
According to other comments it was probably turbo intercooler getting too hot and computer delaying timing to protect the engine because intake air was getting too hot. It's interesting that there were no warnings or indicators in the dash about this, though.
6
It seems that the logic for the beeps could be "rear tyres are rotating at least 5% slower than the front tyres". That way you get beeps if the rear slides around even if you don't touch the brakes.
6
@MuppetsSh0w Do you really think that ad hominem is a good argument in a discussion?
6
It's not about how many minutes it takes to make a lap, it's about driving every car as fast as possible.
6
@racker5108 The engine was turned off and on before reversing. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or by accident. The usual logic of displaying the oil pressure warning indicator to "test the bulb" applied here.
5
Is this one of the BMW opt-in subscription extras?
5
Great two first laps. I'm looking forward for a lap with paddle shifters.
5
@antoine78150 Sometimes you actually press both (partially), especially with FWD cars if you want the car to oversteer a bit. But yes, you're right in general that left foot breaking doesn't mean that you hold both pedals down.
5
@kevindoran4336 What are you talking about? Misha didn't even drive during the RCN5 which should be clear if you watched the video by Super GT to the end. Do you have a reliable source for your claims or are you just spreading some rumours?
5
@konradkubala51 Exactly! And the reason this works is that (most) cars have higher performance brakes than the engine power so you should optimize the acceleration, not the braking. Even F1 cars have better brakes than engine power so they brake as late as possible without sacrificing the acceleration after the corner.
5
4:51 Very good deal from a friend: free repair!
5
That Golf mk1 did really well indeed! Those old cars had very good feedback from tires to steering wheel. I remember driving a Passat from similar era and when it was about to lose traction, you could always tell which tire was about to slide! More modern cars can go faster around the corners thanks to better suspension but the feedback is much worse. It was quite surprising that the limiting factor was engine cooling instead of brakes or suspension!
5
The headlights of modern cars are ridiculously expensive! This car had 1800 EUR headlight (each) and some BMW models have headlights that cost 3000+ EUR each.
4
I think Audi Pre Sense should automatically disable itself when it sees combination of Performance mode and ESC off.
4
The most important mod would be to keep system less hot. However, I'm not sure if that's doable with any sensible amount of work. Tyres with more sidewall and more grip would be a second best option to try next.
3
Most people running M4 around the ring would be overtaken by Porsches but not Robert.
3
@reefhog That's right. And it also has clear km/h numeric output in the middle. However, if you just gimpse it and look at the dial pointing the numbers with most emphasis, you're looking at MPH display. That's the mistake I first made.
3
@Alex-hv3ir Unfortunately, I think white smoke from diesel engine means a crack in cylinder head unless you're hearing engine obviously missing power from one cylinder (which would cause diesel to go through the cylinder without ignition, probably because of a broken valve). If you're losing any coolant, it's the cause of white smoke because coolant is leaking through the cylinder head.
3
If you use high quality oil and do the official maintenance, doing 338000 should be easy. I'd doubt he's still running the original clutch, though.
3
I hope these misleading clickbaits in the title do not become the norm. If you really want to go with clickbait style, at least keep it honest. "I broke the owners brain" would have been fine.
